As for unconstitutional laws - secession is arguably unconstitutional as well (by interpretation of the Supremacy clause). In any case, secession is not what the framers of the Constitution were looking to give states. Otherwise, the Federalist papers would have been pointless and the phrase "Join or die" would never have been uttered and the Great Compromise would've been nothing but a sham.
