They could have found someone other then Alison Lohman for the voice of Nausicaä, someone that at least has some Anime voice acting experience . I found her voice lacking the part. Her voice in many parts of the film just wasn't matching the scene.

It's on amazon.com, if you search "Warriors of the Wind [VHS] (1985)" under the movies/TV section. You'll have to buy it from a seller, rather than from amazon, so I would ask the seller you choose (there are seven or so) if it's the correct one prior to purchase. It looks to be, though. I'd have posted the link for you, but YouTube won't allow me to.

@DaveSimonH I don't understand that mindset. I don't see how an English dub is in any way inferior to a japanese dub. They are both dubs. Cartoons can't actually talk. The whole reason why dubs of live action suck is that they ruin the performance of the actor. You have one actor talking, and another voice acting, and it takes you out of the film (and the voice actor is never as in the moment as the actor who was there on set). With animation, its always a dub.

You're not the only one. I dont think japanese people have the same mind-set as americans or other western folk.

I personally prefer the japanese voices because it sounds a lot better.

its not that something gets lost in the translation. Its the way they act.

An american voice actor who is doing a japanese movie, is not going to act like the character. but merely create an american identity for that character (which often sounds out of place/ unnatural) =/

Nice cast for this dub, i did grew up with this movie in the 80's under the Warriors of the Wind butchered dub cut when i was 4 25 years ago which had the voices of Linda Gary, Ginny Taylor (Space Ghost), Cam Clarke (Keneda from 1989 Akira dub and Leonardo from Ninja Turtles) and Hal Smith (Owl from Winnie the Pooh, Glumgold/Gyro from Ducktales etc.) and i didn't realize it was a butchery until i saw the fansub tape in high school and good thing we got an uncut dub.

oh, I just want to say his performance does not suit for Asbel, I did not know his scandals, but on the whole I love this dubbing work because they esteem the original goodness. Many English dubbing often destroys the original for their own stopgap originality and the benefits of copy rights. As you know the first work of Nausicaa USA version is the atrocity.
