Hi Cindy, I love this video, but I have a major problem. I hope you can help. After drilling the hole in my resin pendant(s) I can see the white inside the pendant where the hole was drilled. I tried drilling closer to the back but I can still see it. Please help, i've already ruined a few pieces. I also have tried a bead reamer to try and get out the particles but it was no help.
@beadsrock00 thank you! The while inside is actually where the resin melts, you just can't help it. But there is a little trick you can try. Resin is self-healing so if you use just a little bit of resin to secure whatever you are putting in the hole, it should make it all better. Let me know.
Well.. No, that would violate the laws of physics. Something that only happens in childrens stories, and the minds of crazy people.
One solution is to use a pen vice.
If there are a large number of evenly shaped items a fixture to hold them securely can aid the process. One would ofcourse have to make the fixture first.
Pen vices and fixtures are replaceable if damaged when drilling, fingers are not.
thanks for posting these..i think i found your page on ebay. Easy Cast seems to be the brand for me. thanks for teaching, hope to buy a starter kit soon. :)!!!
hi cindy, i have recently become interested in resin jewelry design. do you have any videos, or know of any videos, where i can see how stones are set into resin? i am wondering if the best way is to drill indentations into the resin or to make a custom mold with indentations already in the piece. (also, i heard resin dust is extremely bad for lungs, so i'm a bit wary...) thanks soo much!

3 things that are unsafe.
1. Never ever hold a workpiece with your hands when drilling. Ever.
2. Always wear eye protection when working with rotary machinery.
3. Use a dot punch to mark your holes. Using a drillbit will cause it to bend and possibly fracture while in use.

@tinknyc Yes it is bad. I was told to wear a respirator mask. I need to buy one and you should too if you do resin.

I like your frugalness a penny saved is a penny earned, good dope on the resin, you really have the range.
Would live to see a complete project from start to finish and a gallery of your work!
