  • Thumps up if you searched for ewoks because of how i met your mother!

  • That tripped me out the first time I saw, but now I love that they blink. they actually look like creatures instead of lovably savage teddy bears.

  • I think it's reasonable to assume that by the time the next instance of Star Wars rolls around all of the ewoks will be CGI anyway.

  • @elfslay Propably not. They look really realistic already now since they weren't dolls but kids in suits

  • People actually complain about this... did George Lucas really ruin the entire Star Wars series because he decided to make a fucking Ewok blink in one scene? Some other changes (krayt dragon, noo, and, of course, Greedo) only change the elements, but they don't ruin the entire damn movie. Seriously people.

  • This I can actually get behind, I think this is one of the few "improvements" by Lucas.

  • this is bullshit god damnit geoge lucas leave star wars alone

  • Great video.

  • Can Lucas just edit out the entire creature?

  • this is CG done well but don't forget that it's still stupid and pointless

Do you really want to buy a blu-ray player/tv/and over priced box set for blinking Ewoks?

  • @Redeye1524 Yes because everyone on the planet has bought a bluray player and HDTV for the sole purpose of waiting for the Starwars Blu-ray release and NOTHING else right?

  • @kydrice Well i'm not a tool who buys stuff like that in the first place

  • @Redeye1524 No, you're just a tool.

  • What's wrong? This is CGI done right. I did not notice before I read it on the net, and even though it just makes the Ewoks look more real. However, while they were at it they should have removed their zipper ;)

I do not agree with "NOOO", Greedo or direct changes to the plot or story telling, only element changes.

  • LUCAS YOU BASTARD!

  • Slightly unnecessary but I still highly doubt that teddy bears could have attacked stormtroopers belonging' ahem' to the Emperor's elite with arrows that don't even look sharp enough to puncture plastic!

  • If I STARE and watch it OVER and OVER again, I notice it. If I were to watch it as part of the whole movie, I highly doubt I would have ever noticed it.

  • I never even noticed that the Ewoks never blinked. I was too wrapped up the story and characters.

  • What's wrong with this?

  • its BLINKING whats wrong with blinking mean come on

  • I don't give a shit about the Ewoks. Just leave Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, C-3PO, R2-D2, Obi-Wan, Yoda, Chewie, Uncle Owen, Aunt Beru, Lando, Jabba, the Stormtroopers, and the Emperor alone.

  • THIS is what people have been complaining about? It's one of hte rare instances of convincing cgi and anyone else who says that Jedi forever ruined for them now is a fucking idiot.

  • @pigeonpsycho HEY BITCH STAR WARS CAME FIRST

  • this is a change...I guess I'm alright with, but still the no part with vader, on december 21st 2012, we find george lucas and hang him and set his corpse on fire

  • Okay, so they blink. Big deal. Not the end of the world.

At least they don't scream 'No'.

If you still want to complain, go watch the 'Holiday Special' again. : )

  • I never noticed that ewoks didn't blink until I heard about the change.

  • @anakinthehutt Apparently sarcasm is not a primary or second language to you.

  • I had a nightmare I was running through the woods, being chased by a bunch of ewok looking things... I partly blame this video... and partly the gigantic cake I ate before bed...

  • O_O Those eyes are staring into my soul...

  • God i hate star wars fans, even though I am one myself.

  • George Lucas went to so much trouble giving Ewoks CG eyelids - why just not digitally remove Jar Jar Binks from Episode I?

  • i remember watching this in the theater back in 1983 and i just couldn't get over the fact that the ewoks couldn't blink. It pretty much ruined the entire experience for me and i left the theater discouraged, but now i can enjoy the movie!

  • I like how people here try to tell everyone to just "calm down, they're just eyes, grow up" when George Lucas is the one obsessing over little things like this. This is just one of MANY changes to the original trilogy, and it won't be the last.

  • Better.

  • This change I don't mind

  • OMG NOOOO THE EWOKS EYES MOVE NOW NOOOOOOOOOO

Grow the fuck up. It's eyes. They look good now.

  • couldn't he fix up the light sabers instead of this?

  • George Lucas' punishment for this should be that his eyelids are cut off and he's forced to watch The Phantom Menace on a continuous loop 24-7. The worst part is the clicking noise it makes when he blinks. I mean, WHAT, THE, FUCK.

  • The ewoks were all little furry sacks of suck anyway...so no big loss.

  • who ever dislike, that means you didnt look and clicked dislike any ways

  • Was that a pixellated blink?

    Seriously?

  • Changes like blinking don't bother me, it's a little touch that adds some realism and would have been difficult to implement originally. The Gorn can now blink and I support that. Just don't screw with the dialog, the story, or add in horrible CGI which clashes with the awesome model work of the originals!

I will have to pop in the VHS though and see if they also added the iris in his eyes or perhaps that's just the HD making it noticeable?

  • OH MY GOD NOT BLINKING, THIS CLEARLY MAKES THE ENTIRE SAGA UNWATCHABLE.

  • Did he really need to go back in and add a blink? Why? Fucking why is that worth your goddamn time you stupid fat greedy shit

  • people actually hate the fact that ewoks can blink now? Are you people fucking retarded? The whole time I wished they would've blinked!

  • @BunnyHatJ Youre with me right? I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic... xD

Though, they are raging over and over indeed. Come on how old are those people? 30-40 maybe even 50?

  • So when will I be able to blink, Lucas?

  • I dont mind this change actually, its something he couldnt do back in the 80's

  • Lucas should have fixed the destruction of the Executor(Vader's Super Star Destroyer).

When it veers down and crashes into the Death Star it looks like someone lit a Yule log or something. Thing never looked like it was a gigantic spaceship colliding into an even more massive spaceship...it looked like somebody turning a flamethrower on a plastic model kit.

  • It's a shame they couldn't change the acting in all these movies, that's the real problem.

  • calm down guys. they are just eyelids.

  • Haha, Star Wars fans are over-critical nerds. They know the movies all over, and still buy them bluray? Just keep your VHS's then!

The normal people like the normal eyes. Oh and ehm, they need to improve those hideous explosions as well...

  • @ikdushea

Oh, you're right! Many fans don't just think "Oh, this change is interesting...", or "No way! I don't like this"... No, they go all rage, truly and sincerely believe that their lives are ruined, and sound like they wanted to kill somebody >_>'

  • Uncle George is a Ewok rapist

  • I don't mind the blinking eyes...that doesnt bother me too much. It would have been nice to of seen the Ewok develop a 12 inch boner whilst sitting next to Princess Mmmm. But like other fans...I object to the other changes.

  • this is a good change. It's not massive like the retard NOOOO or that weird ass sound Kenobi makes

  • This isn't a bad change. No issue with a little tweak here or there that doesn't affect the story.

However Darth Vaders Nooooooooooooooo affects the scene.

  • Only good change ^^

  • Lucas always intended for the Ewoks to blink but he simply couldn't offord it at the time. That's probably what he'll say. That's his answer for everything.

  • Are people seriously complain of such a un significant change like this one?

  • @CrashBash1412 No only the massive ones like Vaders NOOOOO!!

  • I like these new changes

  • Goddamn space pedobears

  • "OOH!"

    "What is it?"

    "George Lucas making changes..."

  • this is good

  • I don't really notice too much of a difference, Lucas has wasted his money here.

  • This is a pointless waste of money, can Lucas jsut PLEASE keep his hands off these one at LEAST!

  • @TimedropStudios it's his film, he made the original. No offence but he can do whatever he wants with it.

It's like a person making a beautiful painting then deciding to change it slightly and everyone getting miffed! Ridiculous!

  • @nike56770 When you create something for the masses like Star Wars, what you do has a serious impact. This is why shitty artist who "can't get it right the first time" and make changes to something people actually enjoyed (understatement) and add pointless gimmicks in later and later and later are shitty artists.

  • Let's just be glad he didn't CGI a bunch of Teddy Ruxpin dolls into the film. Blinking Wicket I can approve of.

Creepy teddy bears with cassette tapes in their asses running around and whacking Stormtroopers in the balls I CAN'T.

  • Looks so fake. So very, very fake. D:<

  • @joeybuddy96 your right those why cant he just leave them like how they are in real life???

  • This isnt too bad

  • all purist comments about making the ewoks blink aside...has anyone ever wondered why he is so freaked out by a damn hat when he himself is wearing something over his head?

  • This is fine. Makes the stupid Ewoks look less like stuffed toys.

  • there not cute anymore there gonna EAT LEIA! THEN THERE GONNA EAT ME! OH MY GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWD!

  • That's alright, actually. Not terrible.

  • This can't be real, it looks like it's fan-made, it's rough around the edges, and why does it blink so slowly? But... Maybe Lucas has just given up pretending he's improving the films, and just openly hates his fans?

  • its a small thing compared to the rest of the new shit lucas is doing, but EVEN THIS looks like crap! the muppets used have a real life look to them and CGI, as advanced as it can be, still looks fake, so now we have a "real" ewok with digital eyelids. pfft fuck lucas

  • @aezeon

This is shit looking blinking anyway, not like how some of Avatar looks or whatever.

  • awww that's so cute! I'm glad they changed this! Looks more real lol.

  • Watched the film in the early hours of this morning (Blu-Ray originals marathon). I'm like 100% Wicket is the ONLY Ewok that blinks.

  • That...actually looks amazing!

  • Should of made the Ewoks into Wookies, Because Ewoks suck!

  • *In evil emperor laugh* Soon will come a time when I am one of the few people left on this earth that owns an original sw trilogy theatrical copy on dvd! Lucas can do what he likes, as long as I own an original copy myself he can butcher any future editions as much as he likes for all I care!

  • @HugovonDrax YOUR WRONG I ALSO OWN AN ORIGINAL COPY OF STAR WARS

  • @makutateridax200 You have done well Lord Vader. :P

  • THIS - IS - NOT NECESSARY!!!!!

  • looks much better, more realistic

  • Why are there no ewok jedis? WHY!?

  • @strangecity That would be to damn cute.

  • this would make me madder, if it weren't for the other changes

  • I'm obviously not a fan because I watched the clip then had to read what was wrong with it. Maybe loving a movie too much can be a bad thing.

  • they look like gremlins...........

  • Not too bad, not like that hilarious Krayt Dragon call. I don't have a Blu-Ray player anyway.

  • The film is now such a deeper narrative character study thanks to this. There is so such much more meaning to the film, and metaphorically it signifies meaning and maybe even afterlife, that even in death we all change. And that George Lucas is a fucking idiot! :)

  • @TheIrishAvengerCBM I fucking love you.....

  • @TheIrishAvengerCBM lucas is rich idiot!

  • @TheIrishAvengerCBM No, it's not deeper or meaningful. And there's nothing wrong with it, either. Jesus Christ, people will complain about anything. Oh, that awful Lucas. What the fuck have you contributed to popular culture?

  • @xerxestireirondada So I have to create a pop culture phenomenon before I can question somebody's work?! LOL

  • LOL. So pathetic is George Lucas. Failed he has at keep myself as a fan.

  • Well, I never realized if they blinked or didnt blink so I can live with this.

  • blinking is creepy but still...... i dunno..... well its not as bad as people made it out to be

  • George added all the new shit to make sure you buy the Blu Ray box AGAIN when it's released with the untouched originals...

  • You know...I never once noticed they didnt blink, nor did I care. But the question is...why the fuck would the director care?

  • So...the Ewoks have souls now?

  • I was gonna by the damn blu-ray....thank god i heard about these changes lol

  • this is minor, i always thought they did blink anyway. the 1997 edits to this film piss me off more than any blinking Ewoks could. i'm NEVER gonna buy these.

  • Comment removed

  • I think he needs to blink faster.

  • dont mess with my care bears mane...

  • Why all the changes were this suttle and well done.

  • This isn't to bad of a change, but it distracts me.

  • there is simply nothing wrong with this edit. Although that 'noo'' was abit too much, as if the previous edit where they replaced Sebastian Shaw with Hayden Christensen in the last scene wasnt enough...

  • Wow so people still get bent out of shape over the little things? Its hardly the new CGI band in Jabbas palace!

  • Now THIS is a change I can get behind and endorse.

Even as a really small child in 1983 I can remember thinking: "Why don't Ewoks blink?" It never made any sense to me growing up, so I'm glad that Lucas made a good decision to make THIS change. We can argue and gag about his other Blu Ray and DVD changes...but this one was long-needed.

  • Maybe when they do a re-release of the blu-ray versions they might listen do the fans. But that's a big maybe.

  • Ha! Midget bear x.x!!!

  • So wtf is everybody's problem with bashing the prequels yea sure 1 an 2 could have been a little bit better but they're still good movies an episode 3 could arguably be the best out of all 6 movies, just stop being fuckin stan boys an enjoy them as a saga FUCK! an stop cryin about every little change to the originals george has the technology to do better shit now, so he is. ACCEPT IT!

  • @hiphOpniac 6 is the best.

  • @zunkwind that's my 2nd favorite behind revenge. but no arguing here lol.

  • when are they going to replace carrie fischer's poncho with megan fox's boobs?

  • ...

Ok, where are the Laserdisc copies of the OT? I don't care if I don't have a Laserdisc player, the OT must be preserved in its true form, dammit!

  • I can live with this and the CGI Yoda since it will fit the continuity but still the No! just pisses me off since Lucas just want to remind us that Vader is not a badass as we thought he was but whinny little pissant in the prequels.

  • Was it somebody's job to sit there and be like, "Okay...now. Okay.....now...."

  • The CGI Yoda and the Ewoks blinking are perfectly acceptable changes. In fact, I don't have a problem so much with the changes in the Special Edition from back in the day either. I thought some of them actually enhanced the films, such as the remastered Cloud City scenes. When changes happen that alter the story is where there is a problem. But all this being said, hope the Caravan of Courage and The Battle for Endor get blinking Ewoks now too. Y'know...for consistency. ;)

  • @billwenham

it looks too fake to me. one second you're looking at obviously fake plastic eyes(which i wouldn't mind being improved upon) and the next there's a cartoon drawing of an eyelid over them.

  • Where's the NOOO? I was told there were NOOOOs every where now!

  • I never would have noticed had it not been highlighted. It's a subtle, realistic effect.

Get over it people. Keeping the unblinking, staring eyes will not bring back your lost youth. You have grown up. Releasing the original theatrical version will not bring back your childhood.

  • Unnecessary, but subtle at least.

  • Okay....that's actually a good change.

But I still say no to the blu ray. D=

  • I'm not sure why people are tearing their hearts out over this one... I'm not even sure I would've noticed.

  • Just like the Gorn in the remastered Star Trek. Copy cat.

  • They're so cute! I want one! =D

  • Meh

  • its good..lucas has improved this scene..its not worth moaning about really..

  • More adorable

  • Nty to blue ray

  • "Its a hat, its not gonna hurt you" its a bomb

  • we all know what plinkett would say: OH MY GAWD! WATZ WRONG WITH YOUR FACE!

  • You notice that no one actually gives a shit that Ewoks blink now?

  • @MrSmelliott123 At my count.. almost 300,000 people.

  • I nothing this change.

  • Everyone knows that when your eyes are made of plastic you don't have to blink... Duh.

  • @prototype3651 Yeah the blinking of the eyes is okay, but the rest...

  • It makes the Ewoks seem more realistic, like they're actually living creatures. It's barely noticeable. Hell, I didn't even notice it until you people started making a big deal about it.

  • this bit i can live with but the new 'noooooo!' bit at the end of jedi can fuck right off

  • @INFSI99 Agreed this bit isn't as bad as everyone is making it out to be but that no at the end of ROTJ Lucas needs to be shot for.

  • @INFSI99 That's when the mute on your remote comes in handy.

  • @INFSI99 The NO thing sounds fine to me.. I don't get people.. it's 2011 not 77! GET OVER YOURSELVES! Go watch the SD 4:3 VHS if you want...

  • @deepen2011 Your point is lacking one. Why does it being 2011 effect that Lucas has no reason to go back and "remaster" the movies? for nothing more than to squeeze a few more dollars out of a classic series that was already done excellently? He should of just upgraded it to Blu-ray and left it the way millions of people had enjoyed it for about 30 years (And the movie was released in 1983 not 1977 you're thinking of the first one) Also, I will go watch the 4:3 SD version. It's much better

  • @deepen2011 yeah its 2011 not 1977 which is exactly why i dont wanna be digging out my old vhs player which probably doesnt work anymore

  • I was under the impression ewoks didnt have eyelids

  • I'm sorry i like it when they improve on it when they rerelease them it's a good thing! People love something to complain about if u don't like it dont FUCKIN buy the blu-ray box set but some of do so shut the fuck up and stop takin movies way 2 seriously n go n get a fuckin SHAG!!!!

  • i dont think this is that big a deal... its hardly in the same league as that "nooo"

  • What's wrong with that?

  • @101commentary Well, I'm not saying it's wrong to make them blink. It was unnecesary aaaand... it makes it sound IMO that G.L. made the whole new Blu-Ray Boxset just because he wanted to insert this "all new and never seen" blinking thing. Which no one cared about in the first place.

  • @Citan1981 I guess so yeah, the whole blu ray thing seems to go hand in hand with the 'never before seen' thing doesn't it?

I was just saying I didn't notice then not blinking before and didn't think about it lol

  • I like it when the Ewok says "Gunda".

  • i like her hair..

  • We see obvious midgets in some of the fakest looking costumes I have ever seen in a big-budget movie, with "fur" that looks like it came from a shag carpet, and people are mad about them blinking. SMH.

  • The blinking really draws your attention to just how freakishly large the Ewok's eyes are. Is that what George wanted?

  • you have got to be kidding me you are all moaning about Ewoks blinking how pathetic

  • I wish he would've replaced them with wookies like he originally planned. It's totally inconceivable that stormtroopers get taken out by ALFs.

  • Because the Ewok's just weren't unnecessary enough already...

  • Yet they still wear no pants.

  • 0:08

why is that blink so terrifying?

  • They could have, I don't know, made the blinking not look ungodly creepy

  • @ArtemusCain666 Ewoks were always creepy

  • I liked them better when they were just puppets that look like this teddy bear I had when I was 5...
