im getting one used for £185.

I dont really know about the noiseproblem, we had one in my school and i used it alot. really like the macro.

Are there any example pictures with the noise that someone can link me to?

is this good for recording videos ive wtached some videos of people recording a lizard and a snake ect and while they are recording there is a weird fuzzy sound is that with all G7

There have now been two models since the G7: the G9 and G10... I'd suggest chekcing out the best buys section at cameralabs . com for the best models around right now!

whats the best way to carry a compact camera around with you like the g7? I have though about using a camera strap which would be good whislt walking around but the problem is then if you use the strap it makes putting it into a small case problematic and fiddly. plus if it starts raining i have to put it into a case. WHats the best all round solution? a shoulder bag maybe.

Gordon is this a good camera to record videos with i seen some good quality videos shot but they all seem to have a weird sound in the background like fuzzynes

Hi, im really getting into photography, and soon may be getting the powershot G7 for my birthday. But the thing i was wondering if the Powershit G7 has a tripod hole?

yes it definitly has one all the canons have it there isn't one canon that doesn't have the tripod hole.

I was wondering if there are any DSLR's where you don't have to use the veiwfinder to see the picture you are taking.

Hi Splaiish, it's very unusual for a DSLR to use its screen for taking photos, but there are some models which can do it: the Panasonic L1 (see our video), Olympus E-330 (an old model), Olympus E-410 and E-510 (new models coming soon), and the Fujifilm S5 Pro and Canon 1D Mark III (both Professional models). So the best bet look like the new Olympus E-410 and E-510 and we'll review them soon! Note, none of them will record video though.

I have a powershot G7. You just have to keep the iso speed at 400 or below to maintain noise free images!

One quick note: the shimmering coloured patterns which you occassionally see on the G7's screen during the demo are due to the filming process. They're not actually there in real-life! The G7's screen is very good quality - but still a shame it doesn't flip out like the A640!
