@theresalillico I have been searching for this and others. How may I get this music on a disc? I still live in the Southbay. I would here this music when club was open. During the summer the back doors were open and this would come in loud and clear. I know all the words to their songs. Please can you help me?
this is music my grandparents would listen to...gracias ama and abuelito por aver heredado a nuestras vidas musica tan especial y hermosa como esta cancion...[[en paz descanses abuelito]] i know que nos sigues cuidando :)
To the guy that is criticizing Chicanos, Tejanos, Manitos, etc., why don't you do us all a favor and drag your mojo wetback ass back to that cesspool country you call Mexico? Why don't you man up and help fight for your country, against all the corruption and killing that are going down there, instead of being a chicken shit and mooching of our country and hating it at the same time?
haven't heard this since I was a kid on madison street in carlsbad ca. when my parents frenchy N lupe would play this stuff when my nino tony and nina virginia would come down from ontario, very nostalgic but also timeless, a true classic piece of music... sincerely Jesse Adam Valadez
@evadivaful my padrinos lived on Madison. The Tangumas.. Candy (Candelario and Pauline and their son Marty. Candy passed away in 97. He was orininally from Corpus.I think Pauline moved back into their home on Madison in Carlsbad.
@tejanovato I have fond memories of this group. Mundo is from El Paso, que no? They used to play all over southern California. I remember the dances in Camp Pendleton, Oceanside, Carlsbad and so on. All of us Manitos (de NM), Tejanos and locals from Califas would get together and enjoy this group in the 70's. Mundo is a hell of a vocalist. Poli I believe was from Torreon, NM. I heard that he passed away a few years ago. I sure miss those days.
@pmart001 -yeah...really sad...my family knew him. My dad, Poli and his sons played together for my grandpas retirement party. WOW...cumbias con sax. Poli and his sons were soooo good. I remember that night...his son danny plays sax and Im gonna ask if he wants to play in a band with me, my uncle, my cousin, and dad. Were from Portland, Oregon...including Danny. So I hope we can suprize you guys! :) Bad thing is...He works alot....ha...anyways...take care eveybody!
I love these guys...when I was attending San Diego State University we used to hang out in National City at Club 21 and see these guys...I have the first two albums that they put out...I've since made several copies in CD form for friends and family...My best to Poli and El Pastel...
@MrSichuy -Hey!!! Danny use to play for my dad..."GUERREROS SHOW" They were really good. But Danny works at the casino a lot now...He's dj and plays his saxophone sometimes when he works. I miss the old times because they played when I was little...Im older now and play the bass...But since Danny still plays, Im gonna ask if he wants to play again. I think its hard for him too, cuz of how he lost his dad. :(.. But I hope we can suprize you guys! SALUDOS DESDE PORTLAND, OREGON!!!
I'm from Texas and was in the Navy stationed on a Ship in San Diego. I remember going to Club 21 In National City and listening to Poli's Band. What a loss as he's not with us any more.
Wow this is my Uncles band sure brings back memories of spending summers in SanDiego with my cousins and listening to there Dads Band.We lost a true talent way to soon.
@deadindian1 You are so right! What a loss. I can't remember a band to their equal in that area. I am from NM. I lived in Fallbrook in the 60's through the 70's. My dad was in GI Forum. They used have the Dances in Camp Pendleton at the NCO Club. All of the Chicano Marines and Navy personnel from Texas, Nuevo Mexico, Arizona and Califas would all get together and enjoy them play.

@deadindian1 If I am correct, I think I remember Poli telling my dad and his compa Candelario Tanguma (who was originally from Corpus) that he was from Torreon, NM. That is near Albuquerque. I also lost my parents a couple of years ago this May, and my padrino Candelario in 1997. These songs and those on his album "aqui venimos" bring back fond memories. Sad, but beautiful because we lived and experienced those great times. Do you know if any of these albums are available on CD's?
Oh, and you're a real Mexican...see you at Taco Bell...Lástima que no sé de qué me están hablando ... con los mexicanos real, usted no iba a durar 16 minutos ...hay te watcho....
