  • oh I so wanna watch this movie! well mainly becuz of Missy Higgins :D

  • @bamanck

    I apologise unreservedly...

  • AHhhahH "we have run over an aboriginie"

  • Cringing are for gay people :)

  • Can anyone please tell me if the aboriginal dancers in the "going to the footy scene" on the back of the ute are The Chooky Dancers? Thanks!

  • DON'T LISTEN TO Hammersley1967 THIS IS ACTUALLY A GOOD AUSTRALIAN FILM, I RECOMMEND ANYONE TO GO AND SEE IT!

  • MISSY HIGGINS!!!!!

  • Geoffrey Rush you say? I'm there, dude.

  • racist

  • to all our American friends, GO AND SEE IT! From Oz

  • @PigeonPair

    To all our American friends...

    PLEASE DON'T SEE THIS FILM!!!

IT'S NOT WHAT AUSTRALIAN FILMS ARE LIKE!!!

THEIR USUALLY MUCH BETTER THAN THIS!!!

Occasionally, embarrassingly poor movies like this come out when the Australian government decides that it's time to pretend to do a little bit of affirmative action by throwing a shitload of money at an embarrassingly piss poor production like this...

  • @Hammersley1967 whats with the cultural cringe? Why do you care so much what our "American friends" think?

I'm the first to admit I have problems with a lot of Australian films, its something to do with being too close to the subject probably (and shit scripts and lowest common denominator marketing - mainly to the US). But your comment about affirmative action - read: a bloody film about Aborigines, I find particularly offensive.

  • @shakypam

Not so much movies ABOUT Aboriginals...

But it's the movies done BY aboriginals that are so god damn embarrassing...

    *CRINGE*

  • @Hammersley1967 Which movies that are done BY the aboriginals- are the embarrassing ones ffs? Give me one movie created by aboriginals that you consider embarrassing? What is embarrassing is YOU!!!!! You're no art critic--you are a regular, run of the mill racist!!!!!! I'm a white Australian by the way--not Aboriginal!!! Just in case you thought you might go there!

  • @gypsybaby71

Ever seen the manifestation of pure cinematographic embarrassment "My Place"? A screen production based on a "novel" (if I can call it that) by that literary hack Sally Morgan?

    JESUS FUCKING CHRIST!!!

And this diabolical tripe is exported overseas to embarrass all Australians...

There should be a law against it...

    *CRINGE*

  • @Hammersley1967 you racist mate?

  • Comment removed

  • @crayolavert

    HOW DARE YOU!!!

I AM A LOYAL AND RIGHTEOUS SOLDIER OF OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST!!!

  • @Hammersley1967 You obviously didn't see the same movie as I did! Open up your mind---ok...its not exactly a traditonal style film but it is excellent none the less. It is not embarrassing, and it is definately not poor--its rich in culture, humour and heart---3 qualities you don't have. I don't think all American would like it--its not glossy and glamorous but is is us!!! But I do think a lot of Americans will get to see anoher side of Australia if they watch it!

  • @gypsybaby71

"You obviously didn't see the same movie as I did!"

Oh I saw it... I mean in between hiding under the seat in front of me due to tooth loosening embarrassment...

About the only thing that saved it was the performances of Rush and Szubanski...

The rest of it was below amateur level...

"its rich in culture, humour and heart"

    JESUS!!! Your easily impressed...

    *CRINGING EMBARRASSMENT*

  • @Hammersley1967 Oh shut up and chill out mate. You didn't like the movie. Let other people make their own minds up. We don't tell you what to watch. Don't tell us.

  • @boogiefever1985

I COMMAND YOU TO NOT WATCH THIS FILM!!!

  • @Hammersley1967 Let me guess, you are a Spinal Tap fan?
