I HATE THIS SONG. The guy who composed it never even watched One-Piece, it doesn't fit the arc at all and he's a total d-bag. He showed it to his daughter, she said it didn't fit and he used it anyways. then just recently said that adults shouldn't read manga, what a fucking douche.. he ruined this opening with this horrible song.

Then you learn about the guy... Yeah, I don't listen to the song as much as I used to. But this DOES give the continuous life lesson that charming things doesn't have to be produced by charming people...

@OmegaCalibur Read about that in the very same article. The reasons only make the guy look worse. No denying the guy's a total prick (though I don't remember saying not to condemn him) and I'll be sure to avoid anything he composes in the future.

This is bittersweet, since (if this song is any indication) he can make some very charming melodies. I'll vent my disgust with the man behind the song not with the song that was only guilty of not following the tone of the arc before we learned more.

Well, the second part was greatly animated and very fitting for the arc, not the song but the animation. I think the entire opening should have been based off the arc though, the opening itself until it shows Ace walking up the stairs was way too childish and had no relevance at all to the story.

@OmegaCalibur As One Piece OPs often juggle the Strawhats having fun times while assembling the significant comers and whats to come I more saw the first part as a quick excuse to animate a lot of the cover art from the manga and make you crack a wide smile.

Otherwise, I'd say the current opening makes up for that in spades. And makes me damn misty eye-eyed every time I see it.

I don't want to ruin anything for you so you should probably watch the anime when these openings are running. Most of them actually reflect the mood of their respective episodes quite nicely! The next opening (14) should be really nice though, a breath of fresh air I hope =) and quite upbeat too! (judging by the manga's current state)
