Everyone who is pointing out her flaws. As a cellist and I can tell that you're all right in what you say but on a TV show like this people don't necessarily have the same amount of insight in music as we do. Frankly most people wouldn't look into a performance like that.Unlike most classical performances, playing a classical piece on more mainstream stages are more about making it look impressive and selling it, whilst she wasn't playing perfectly she made it look impressive and people liked it.
and on the other hand... what kind a friend is that who doesn't celebrate her friend's success? I would be happy as hell. Well, she couldn't play the piano so she seems very envious. Pity for her.
@beirenqi999 and also she was mostly playing only the open g string in the beginning, shifted very little, and most of them could be played in the first and third positions. It's sad how the judges don't understand what talent really is lol. Don't get me wrong, her tone is great and her passion and emotion is genuine.
It's great to finally realize someone UNDERSTANDS. These days, most people don't really know what "talent" is. AND THE FIRST SONG WAS BEAUTIFUL!! SCREW THE JUDGES!!!
@MsOugh Imho I too was not very sold to her talent as a violinist (i don't play the violin, just the guitar and piano), I heard what you and beirenqi meant tho during her performance.
Problem is that we need passionate people who might not be virtuozos as such but bring people to something diferent and help to open minds!
She is good but the phrase "one of the best we've ever had" that pierse said is an overstatement. Also i'm sure that with more studies she will show talent!
I'm adressing all the musicians who are pointing out the flaws in her performance. You made your point, but you are so annoying! It may be true that her performance wasn't perfect from a professional POV, but if it's subtil enough not to be noticed by the people you're performing for, what does it matter? Personally (and I'm sure many would agree), as long as I enjoy her music, I. DON'T. CARE. You are wasting your time, and ours.
What else could it make more impressive than "Storm".
I can't really judge about how well she play, because truthfully I don't have much knowledge on classic music. But I can tell that I'm impressed and she got perfect choice for the second performance.
Lots of criticisms here on Sue's violin playing.I am a musician and I can certainly tell when she was out of sync and then out of tune on the high note. HOWEVER, the fact is, the only thing matters is how she sells it to the average audience, who by no mean can hear those things (remember on-live you can't hit "play" again). She sells is really well. Her face expression, body movements, confidence, all those together made a lovely performance. Again, she's not playing for her college audition!!!
@beirenqi999 Musician maybe, but are you a violinist? I am... and violinists (most of them) have very good tone-ear. That's needed to play the violin.
@beirenqi999 as a non musician i can tell you that this video was NOT uploaded in HD which i'm disappointed because both violins and pianos sound so good
When I said that it wasn't good I was referring to the performance with her friend. the one by her own was ok... I know I wouldn't be able to do better than sue because I don't play the violin, but I play the piano. I also don't know if I would do better than her friend because I didn't see much... she played for like 35 seconds, so I couldn't really listen to her playing properly. come on don't tell me you were impressed by those mere 35 seconds!
These judges know NOTHING. In the piano/violin duo, Sue wasn't too bad.
But in her solo audition playing "Storm," Sue was TERRIBLE (out of tune, out of sync, missing notes--I've played it before so I know). She even simplified the music to make it easier, and still made all those mistakes. And NOW the judges think it was good?
Seriously, all you have to do is play fast repetitive notes against a fast/energetic background beat, and the judges will think it's "good." A complete joke.
Summer is the same thing as "Storm." That's the piece that Sue completely bombed, unless she re-played it again somewhere else? If there is another performance, then sure, let me know and I'll listen to it and see.
This piece isn't even that hard. It's just a standard classical piece that every serious violin student has played. It sounds fast and energetic, but it's not nearly as difficult as it sounds.
I feel really solo for her friend, but then again it was kinda rude to not cheer/encourage her on. What kind of a 'best friend' doesn't believe in their friend's dreams?
Me and my best mate met in college and we've been best friends going on 4yrs.
I would NOT try to hold him back. I'd feel too guilty if he said no to something because of me. Not Sue's fault they wanted her back and not the other girl.
The judges just felt she was the stronger performer of the two and had the best shot. That other girl would've said yes in an instant. Jealousy can ruin any friendship.
The look at 3.50 is so touching, like a movie , such an outstanding director. Simon knew the girl will say Yes. in another audition Simon said friends don't wish the best for their friends, and this is the proof..
SUE SON SUCKS SO BADLY. IF YOU WERE A REAL CLASSICAL MUSICIAN YOU WOULD AGREE. THAT WAS THE FUCKIN WORST INTERPRETATION OF SUMMER IN THE WHOLE WORLD SHE SUCKS. SHE CANT PLAY FOR SHIT.
For example they could have said after the show to the violinist to come back next year without her friend. But the way they said it, is just horrible.
she made the right decision... it probably definitely sucked to have to leave her friend behind, but she kind of had no choice. also, if i were her friend, i would have wanted her to leave me behind. i'm sure her friend understood :) what amazing talent this girl has!!
she made the right decision... it probably definitely sucked to have to leave her friend behind, but she kind of had no choice. also, if i were her friend, i would have wanted her to leave me behind. i'm sure her friend understood :)
@Sadorath It's "Finding Beauty" There are two versions, Craig Armstrong and Escala. Escala's version features only the violin, but Craig's has more of a modern twist in it. But yes, Wolf's Rain is based of it. (:
what is wrong with sues friend she supported her in no way wat kind of best friend is that if my friend got an opportunity like that i would have been extremly happy for her GO SUE U ROCK!!!!!
She almost said no because of her stupid friend and she still didn't accept it.. That's a big friend over there, I bet she would say yes if she was on her place... :d
Yes, Sue's friend should have supported her. However, I also think that the judges should have given Janeane a solo shot too see if she could also prove herself on her own. Just in case. She could have proven herself too. Or at the very least, she'd known that she too had a shot but didn't make it. Either way, their friendship may have been preserved.
i think we all shouldn't talk about Janine or Sue like that. It must be hard for Janine to say yes to her friend that easily, it must be a lot to take in. She should suport her friend though. And the expression on her face isn't pissed, it's because she's sad. As for Sue, besties should show that they're always by their side! That's true friendship! Not acting as migratory birds. The fly away in cold weather. ANyway, we don't know anything between Sue and Janine so it's best we stop assuming.
Come on, if I was her friend, I'd shout from the backstage SHE'LL GO FOR AUDITION TOMOROW!!!
Why is it that if you're a best friend, you can't hide your feeling of sadness and show that you absolutely support your friend so that she knows you'll always be by her side?
I don't really think so :/ Friends should succeed together, but sometimes we have to make sacrifices. I don't think Janine would want to live with the conscience that Sue's career might have been better if she went on the stage. After all, she already lost, why not support her friend?
I shouldn't think so. I mean, she already lost right? So since her bestie got a chance, why shouldn't she support her? If it were me, I'd shout from the backstage saying SHE'LL ABSOLUTELY GO FOR AUDITION! I just think that maybe Janine feels that it's a lot to take in, then she started feeling sad. I don't agree with the other people saying Janine was pissed, because the expression on her face was just sadness. I could see she was almost trying no to cry.
@MyCoooookie Why do you disagree? That means she SHOULD break the friendship. I meant that if the eyboard girl didn't let her audition then shes a bad friend.
It would have been nice if her friend had screamed "yes she'll audition tommorrow" from the side of the stage! Now that would show some true friendship! =D
well i agree with the judges....sorry haters but it did indeed seem like two completley different pieces played at once and yes there was no dinamics.
@kawaiiushii That is so not true. The keyboard intro hinted directly at the violin part in the piece. You can't judge a piece like that on a mere 35 seconds, it could have been a slow burner building up to a massive climax. We'll never know now
And another thing, I don't know why people are giving the other girl grief about her reaction. They;d only just got buzzed off near the beginning of their act, and now she finds out that she's the reason why they were buzzed off. I think it was far more to do with that than the fact that Sue got to go through on her own. It would suck for anyone!
@LordWedgewood I don't think she was the reason she was booted off. She's also talented but her piece didn't flatter her talent at ALL, and with Son next to her, she was simply OVERSHADOWED. So of course they're going to pick the BETTER of the two. I understand why she would feel that way, but she should understand that they just don't go together. It sounded like a cacophonous, messy piece. Though I think the other girl should still be proud of her friend. She even said she was fine with it.
@4SAY4 Sue was not necessarily the better of the two. BGT proved a short-lived experience for both, with Sue doing better, but a look at the bigger picture tells a different story. Later that year, Sue she failed to get into the Royal College of Music in London (her application was rejected as she was deemed not good enough), whereas Janine did get in (she was good enough)
@DaveDaRave1980 and also Janine now plays full time in the London Symphony Orchestra. Where is Sue now? You never hear anything about her as a performer anymore. I'd hope she's still performing or recording somewhere out there, but if not then it just shows what a curse shows like BGT really are!
Why the feck do the judges buzz an act like that who are talented, yet they let through idiots who can't dance just for the 'comedic' factor. Seriously, people who are actually talented need to stop going on shows like this, they only get screwed over.
As a friend, you're supposed to be supportive. Also, Simon was clearly attracted to Sue and really sorry to see her go. She's definitely something though... both musically, and uh... physically.
they were really mean to them. i would've like to hear the whole thing with both of them. I thought it was a really nice song. This is why i dont watch tv shows like this
my first impression on her was good. but now that i re-watch, she wasn't all that great. actually if u listen, she had got lots of notes wrong. also, this is a re-creation of summer only -- not saying that is not good due to time limitations -- but she had gotten rid of the difficult parts. where you were supposed to play on 4 strings continuously, she only played the melody on one, which made her act less appealing. I'm only 14 but I can do what she did, so she's really NOT THAT GOOD
This is a talent show. Its about finding people with talent. Here it was a keyboard player and a violin player, where it just didnt match. The keyboard player honestly wast that great. But the Violinplayer was. Therefore they gave the most talented one a extra chanse. Friends should let their friends pursue there dreams. with or without them. And theyre still friends. And if your friend stop being your friend after you go solo like this, wheres the love?

@MyCoooookie Why do you disagree? That means she SHOULD break the friendship. I meant that if the eyboard girl didn't let her audition then shes a bad friend.
kittenluvful 9 months ago
@kittenluvful Oh xD I agree!! xD I'm sorry I was kinda tired :'D
Yeah right :3

It would have been nice if her friend had screamed "yes she'll audition tommorrow" from the side of the stage! Now that would show some true friendship! =D

I THINK SUE SON LOOKS CUTE
JOSE515226 10 months ago
well i agree with the judges....sorry haters but it did indeed seem like two completley different pieces played at once and yes there was no dinamics.
kawaiiushii 10 months ago
@kawaiiushii That is so not true. The keyboard intro hinted directly at the violin part in the piece. You can't judge a piece like that on a mere 35 seconds, it could have been a slow burner building up to a massive climax. We'll never know now
DaveDaRave1980 4 months ago
are they still best friends ?
kawaiiushii 10 months ago
i personally liked the first one too...
maybe the judges aren't used to semi-classical music ?
grecogreco4 10 months ago
And another thing, I don't know why people are giving the other girl grief about her reaction. They;d only just got buzzed off near the beginning of their act, and now she finds out that she's the reason why they were buzzed off. I think it was far more to do with that than the fact that Sue got to go through on her own. It would suck for anyone!
LordWedgewood 10 months ago 2
@LordWedgewood I don't think she was the reason she was booted off. She's also talented but her piece didn't flatter her talent at ALL, and with Son next to her, she was simply OVERSHADOWED. So of course they're going to pick the BETTER of the two. I understand why she would feel that way, but she should understand that they just don't go together. It sounded like a cacophonous, messy piece. Though I think the other girl should still be proud of her friend. She even said she was fine with it.
AmionneJean 10 months ago
@AmionneJean I so agree
4SAY4 10 months ago
@4SAY4 Sue was not necessarily the better of the two. BGT proved a short-lived experience for both, with Sue doing better, but a look at the bigger picture tells a different story. Later that year, Sue she failed to get into the Royal College of Music in London (her application was rejected as she was deemed not good enough), whereas Janine did get in (she was good enough)
DaveDaRave1980 4 months ago
@DaveDaRave1980 and also Janine now plays full time in the London Symphony Orchestra. Where is Sue now? You never hear anything about her as a performer anymore. I'd hope she's still performing or recording somewhere out there, but if not then it just shows what a curse shows like BGT really are!
DaveDaRave1980 4 months ago
Why the feck do the judges buzz an act like that who are talented, yet they let through idiots who can't dance just for the 'comedic' factor. Seriously, people who are actually talented need to stop going on shows like this, they only get screwed over.
LordWedgewood 10 months ago
As a friend, you're supposed to be supportive. Also, Simon was clearly attracted to Sue and really sorry to see her go. She's definitely something though... both musically, and uh... physically.
baralailove 10 months ago
they were really mean to them. i would've like to hear the whole thing with both of them. I thought it was a really nice song. This is why i dont watch tv shows like this

She is indeed quite a amazing violinist and when based on talent alone she belonged up there with subo
tiengoku 10 months ago
my first impression on her was good. but now that i re-watch, she wasn't all that great. actually if u listen, she had got lots of notes wrong. also, this is a re-creation of summer only -- not saying that is not good due to time limitations -- but she had gotten rid of the difficult parts. where you were supposed to play on 4 strings continuously, she only played the melody on one, which made her act less appealing.

MultiCyyber 11 months ago
Well, I didn't like what they did. Really stupid, because it was something like: Hey, you on the violin, you're good. You on the keyboard, you suck!
It was a kind of disrespect, because they were there to perform in duo.
And it's easy to say that the friend should be happy for her, but imagine you in that situation?
And honestly? I didn't think the first presentation was bad.
I must say that you can find a lot of violinists, good violinists,it is common. But the work they done together isn't.
