What is the language of the chorus? I don't know but iit sounds to me like Latin. By the way. I have not heard a song from Sirenia that I did not like. That is a rare thing for me to say about most groups.

its the same with tristania... they never put the lyrics to the choirs which is frustrating... all i know is that some choirs of both bands are classical opera pieces... like wormwood, that uses in taverna cuando soumos, from carmina burana

Sirenia is a class in the scientific classification system. It's animals such as sea manatees. I think that's just coincidence, though. :)

Oh, and Morten chose the name Sirenia to refer to their many lyrical references to Sirens. Hence the Greek mythology Azucena1510 mentioned.

It's the variant of the Greek word sirena meaning enchanter like those mentioned in the Odyssey. Obviously the word siren came from the word sirenia/sirena. The word also applies to mermaids.

@valiantu:yeah i suppose europeans are the best at symphonic metal. so far i havent seen any american symphonic bands. the closest is evanescence which is a ridiculouse attempt to be symphonic metal, although i still think evanescence is pretty cool, Sirenia,nightwish,within temptation etc will always be the best!=)

This is good music. Tristania and Sirenia are the only two bands that belong in their own unique genre, seeing as how the composers are all from/in the same circle of musicians. The new album is awesome, too. I like the evolution these two bands are going through. Every album so far is fresh.

Which old singer are you reffering to? Sirenia has a different lead singer on every album they've put out. If you're reffering to 'Nine Destinies and a Downfall', the lead singer is Monika Pedersen. Before Monika, Henriette Bordvik was their female vocalist. They had two guest singers that sang on the ablums 'Sirenian Shores' and 'At Sixes and Sevens' according to the Encyclopedia Metallum. Those singers are Emmanuelle Zoldan (session singer on Sirenian Shores) and Fabienne Gondamin.
