farewell TR. i was there holding off the bane and my clan was to holding the empire CP and when the server had 10 second left we all sayed our goodbyes this is jenkinss of centaurus signing off earth 1 stand free of bane.
i miss tabula rasa dam NCSOFT, they should do their Jobs properly i can't believe it i won't be playing another ncsoft Game again. i don't trust them why should play and and it closes down. i was thinking about playing Aion but why should i it will probably close like the rest of them and waste all that Time. it's a shame to see tabula rasa close down if they did it probably they could of made something of Tabula rasa and it would of made a great game crazy really
don't blame it on NCsoft. NCsoft give Richard Garriot all the time, resources, and man power he needed. Tabula Rasa was shut down simply because it's a head of its time. People didn't like the sci-fi, mmorpg/fps style...
I don't know if it was just ahead of its time- or ahead of it's time. Just IMO, the pseudo-shooting was just presentation. I see what they were trying to do there- appeal to people who thought MMORPGS were too slow and FPS's were too dumb. They basically reached the perfect compromise- and you know what they say: a perfect compromise means nobody's happy.
They basically evaded both demogrpahics instead of appealing to both.
That most people -a demographic viable to keep an MMO running, anyway- want either a dump FPS or a smart (well, relatively) RPG. The result is that is was too smart (read: not killing people without thinking) for many people, and too fast (Have to keep moving the mouse- omigod!) for the audience that enjoyed grinding through WoW.
And of course, people's perceptions that they only enjoy one genre are a big factor too. Lots of people just said that an FPS/MMO hybrid wouldn't work.
PVP in many non-Wowish mmorpgs are sometimes too smart and too fast... (ex. PVPing in Lineage 2 is like playing counter strike while having to think at the same time)
I never got to play TR because my fairly-old computer couldn't handle it, but after I saw this video and read peoples comment I truly wish I had bought a new PC way sooner than I did. I hope you guys enjoyed it, it looks awesome. :)
farewell TR. My clan and I were there at the end too Centaurus Earth 3. The three of us all in vulcans helping to hold the Empire CP was a rush. The strange silence that fell as the final countdown to victory started was almost unbelevable then the general chan erupted in goodbies, celebration, and of course trumpets :). This is Brennen of centaurus signing off, Earth 3 stands free of the Bane.
I didn't cry 'til I saw this. I'll miss it. Lots. Always on my Top 5 MMO list. Only got in the last 2 hours on shutdown day, so I missed all the photo ops. Nasing on Pegasus, Earth(5) forever!
I was there too. Centaurus Server. Thanks for the great Video! And you have the same armor combination like me! :D The lag was shit, but anyway, it was a great event. maybe some crazy investors will buy the licence or.... well anyway. Goodbye, Farewell and Amen!
I was playing yesterday on Centaurus (European szerver) Earth2; we have lost the Empire Section, but we stand still on the Lexington base until the end...
This is Bolduc reporting in. I would've stayed until the end. But the game crashed and I lost patience 2 hours before.
What does the message say at the end?
And how does the narrative end? Does humanity win the war against the seemingly unstoppable bane forces or does humanity use a secret weapon assuring mutual self-destruction?
So, did you win the battle, or did they win? If they won, does that mean that the only people here that were capable of protecting the galaxy were killed? And that the universe is doomed?
Hey man, This is Lieutenant Akatake reporting in. I had a great time getting together any of my AFS Last Stand troops. Thank you all for fighting. Remember me. I know I'll remember you.
almost a year...

So you are saying that their perfect compromise is a dumb MMORPG and a slow FPS?

Great tribute. Sad to see an mmo with such a great setting die before its time.
