The problem with SNTP apps like AboutTime is that they step your software clock without also adjusting the rate, so that you still get bad timekeeping in between resets. A full-fledged NTP application does both, thus giving you accurate time-of-day AND time interval (which is obviously important for measuring duration of earthquakes, travel time, etc.)
