Thank you so much for this -- there are very few videos which actually show what they do when they get remote access. It shows that this is just about the money, and nothing more sinister (as if that wasn't enough!).
I'd be very interested to see the form they wanted you to fill in. Do you have a copy?
This guy sounds just like the one I strung along for over 38 minutes with tales about how I couldnt pay for my software maintenance because they didnt take cash and I stored my money in my mattress...
Well done, you potentially saved some unsuspecting victim a few quid, following your video next time they ring i will do the same! A thousand internets to you sir!
Any Concerns Letting them Get onto the Computer using this or Teamviewer? If Someone gets this call, What can they access or what have they accessed. Is it Possible to track this ? Once again, these cold callers are the worst bottom feeding scum sucking algae eaters.
Tell that guy you'll give him a $3 contract for him to make spreadsheets for you, that's more than what they're paying him back in Kolkata, the mediocre IT sweat of the world.
i got a call from someone similar. They are rubbish liars. Only poor foolish people get suckered in. next time I'm going to play along. and then say, at the end. "Oh hang on a minute. I don't own a computer.."
Note: At the end he said "I will pull up the registration form", however he said earlier his "junior technician is working on your computer from [ some bullshit location ] "
thanks for this, I've put a recording on Youtube too (search for Windows Service Centre phone call scam) but stopped short of letting them onto my computer.
I received a call last night(March 16, 2011,) they had east indian accents and attempted to tell me my computers was experiencing problems, they wanted me to go to a website called 123logmein they also claim their company name was Maakaboor. I didn't believe it right from the start and when I told him I believed he was trying to scam me he became rude with me saying he wanted to fuck my daughter and to take my computer and stick it in my moms pussy,I then hand up. - Everyone beware of this scam!
I got a call yesterday from one and did everything he said and looked at the "errors" and dangerous malware. I stopped when he asked me to hold down my ctrl+start button+r for a certain amount of time.
I just got another call about 15 mins ago. I got their phone number, email and website (with links leading to no where).
I'm getting rather annoyed with them. They've called me 3 times so far.
I just received one of these calls. I played his game for a while knowing that it was all a scam. The website they directed me to was techforhelp com And stated that it would cost me $195.00 au for 12 months computer support to fix my slow computer. After a while I advised the caller that I believed he was a scam and that I did not have a windows computer but ran MAC. He then abruptly hung up. So be careful of anyone from that company.
I'm surprised you gave remote access, it's a good job they don't put malware or keyloggers onto the computer. However, it was still risky that you allowed them. But thank you for proving to me that these companies don't do use malicious software, just try and get a direct transaction from the person they are calling for a product that doesn't exist. Someone told me everything they are doing doesn't count as unlawful in India, due to their lack of CMA, bastards.
It was clearly a scam because you received a phone call regarding some sort of computer support that you didn’t asked for; and the strangest thing is that they offer their “service” free of charge; the only thing they want is mainly gain access to your computer. You are obviously aware of these scams and for that I would like to thank you for taking the time for uploading this video as this will contribute for the reduction of unsuspected people falling for this type of scams.
I received a similar call this afternoon regarding the same Microsoft computer support. I didn’t think twice in labelling the caller a scammer as I was sure that this was a fictitious computer support which didn’t have any purposes apart from allowing them to control my PC remotely, which obviously involves major privacy concerns.
This is no different from mugging. I used to string them along and then drop the bombshell that i was an internet security officer working for the "Cyber Fraud Investigation Dept" (made that up) !
These pigs are scum. They prey on less well informed folk and then rob them and steal their identity.
I like getting called by these guys, they're so stupid they don't even cross me off their list at the end, some times I just verbally abuse them (Non racially) and sometimes I go along with it before going off topic at the end and talking about NASA. lol
lol the 2 Indian scammers disliked this xD

wish the user had some type of call-tracing device to see where this caller was coming from so he could pass the info to their local authorities.

Keep a referee's whistle next to your phone, then the second you hear that Indian accent from callers, you can near deafen them with it..
