One more thing i must add. The authenticity of Chutney music is quite amazing to listen to during weddings (Guyanese weddings that is). Rikki Jai took advantage of chutney wedding music and made it a hit. Too bad most singers from Trinidad are making hits with Rum lyrics/connotations. It's sick and pathetic. Well if you want good chutney from Trinidad, listen to artists like Sam Boodram, Rakesh Yankaran, Anand Yankaran, Boodram Holass, Rasika Dindayal, Devanand Gattoo, Ramraji Prabhu, Molly Ramcharan, etc etc.
These artists have great music on their CDs, has the real classical but upbeat sound.
OUt of all Anand Yankaran is amazing. Seems like the older generation sung better chutney music (i guess cuz of its authenticity?). I've encountered many Guyanese singers (old generation) that sing well. Unfortunately, they don't produce music, it's usually sung at weddings. Too bad they don't market themselves. The dancing to chutney is amazing too. Anand produced some amazing hits to dance to. Even that type of chutney dancing is dwindling. I wonder why?
No its not, the singer is Rakesh Yankaran, brother of Anand Yankaran, and both from Trinidad. Guyana only has two popular "chutney" singers, that is Terry Gajraj and Queen Yasmin. One more thing i must add. The authenticity of Chutney music is quite amazing to listen to during weddings (Guyanese weddings that is). Rikki Jai took advantage of chutney wedding music and made it a hit. Too bad most singers from Trinidad are making hits with Rum lyrics/connotations. It's sick and pathetic. Well if you want good chutney from Trinidad, listen to artists like Sam Boodram, Rakesh Yankaran, Anand Yankaran, Boodram Holass, Rasika Dindayal, Devanand Gattoo, Ramraji Prabhu, Molly Ramcharan, etc etc.
These artists have great music on their CDs, has the real classical but upbeat sound.

OUt of all Anand Yankaran is amazing. Seems like the older generation sung better chutney music (i guess cuz of its authenticity?). I've encountered many Guyanese singers (old generation) that sing well. Unfortunately, they don't produce music, it's usually sung at weddings. Too bad they don't market themselves. The dancing to chutney is amazing too. Anand produced some amazing hits to dance to. Even that type of chutney dancing is dwindling. I wonder why?

No its not, the singer is Rakesh Yankaran, brother of Anand Yankaran, and both from Trinidad. Guyana only has two popular "chutney" singers, that is Terry Gajraj and Queen Yasmin. Trinidad has the Yankaran brothers, Boodram Holass, Neeshan Prabhoo, Adesh Samaroo, Rasika Dindial, Rikki Jai, and so on. Not trying to hate, but just stating the facts.
