I know this incident was not nuclear because I was working at the Pengaton at the time as a civilian analyst and I had to brief this incident to some military officers the morning after it happened. It LOOKS perhaps like a very very low yield nuke, but that is only because the sheer volume of weapons (from grenades to small arms ammo to mortar rounds) was so great that the ensuing blasts were visible over a great distance.

That there are mini nukes causing all the flashes up to 3:57? The effect you see is from the camera over amplifying the light in this video. No. It's just a large conventional explosion. A nuclear explosion would be easily detected and impossible to hide due to the increase in fission byproducts in the atmosphere and other factors like the unique seismic signature and scourching.

The camera magnifies the light it sees, thus the flash appears much brighter than it really was. This does not look to me like a nuclear explosion. You can see material flying out and arching from the base of the explosion and top of the explosion. You generally don't see those in nuclear blasts (the shockwave is moving too fast) While it is a very bright flash use the headlights in the foreground as a comparision. It was definetly a massive explosion, but non-nuclear.

A small backyard explosion can produce a mushroom cloud. In fact, smoke rings are the same as a mushroom cloud, but just on a smaller scale. The exact principle is the same. Good point - I apologize for the personal attack. I know this incident was not nuclear because I was working at the Pengaton at the time as a civilian analyst and I had to brief this incident to some military officers the morning after it happened. It LOOKS perhaps like a very very low yield nuke, but that is only because the sheer volume of weapons (from grenades to small arms ammo to mortar rounds) was so great that the ensuing blasts were visible over a great distance.

Okay... I need to point something out. Im noticing every other light in this image is smaller but equally as bright. Does this mean that there are nukes in the street lights? That there are mini nukes causing all the flashes up to 3:57? The effect you see is from the camera over amplifying the light in this video. What you probably saw was a large cache of artillery rounds and powder charges exploding... thus creating a fairly bright firey mushroom cloud.

Nuke comes at 3:54 and @rebeltshead, all nukes that hit the ground have a mushroom cloud, in fact, most large explosions period have mushroom clouds. And it's definitely a nuke if you watch the whole video. And yes that is a tactical nuke, TACTICAL being the key word there. They are called TACTICAL nukes because they don't want to level all of Baghdad.
Nukes only release as much energy as you put in. So technically speaking you could make a nuke the size of your hand, not easy that small though.

Definetly not a tactical nuke. The camera here is just a thermal camera, which is the explosion nearly burnt it out.
Other angles using regular cameras also show that it is not a nuke.
The flash from a nuclear explosion, even if it is only a little tactical nuke, would blind anyone looking at it. Seeing as there were plenty of people there in persona nd saw the explosion, and no one is mentioning blindness or radiation burns or anything else, it is NOT a nuke.

No. It's just a large conventional explosion. A nuclear explosion would be easily detected and impossible to hide due to the increase in fission byproducts in the atmosphere and other factors like the unique seismic signature and scourching.
This does not look anything like a nuclear explosion anyway.

This was not Nuclear, Thank God. I am living proof of that. This is the ammo dump at D-4, Forward Operating Base Camp blowing up October 10, 2005. No one was killed or injured. I praise our military for that because of the brilliant way they stored their artillery rounds along with other various high explosives to where even under the worst circumstances, they blew up in stages. If the whole 9 yards would have blew at once. South Baghdad (The Sunni Ghetto) would have suffered massive casualties

The camera magnifies the light it sees, thus the flash appears much brighter than it really was. AND let's not forget the fact that nuclear weapons do not trigger and detonate just because a mortar or even fire gets to it. It is a precision controlled chain reaction. We've had B52's crash and go up in balls of fire that subsequently burned for several hours (England, in the 50's) and their nukes on board didn't go off.

This does not look to me like a nuclear explosion. You can see material flying out and arching from the base of the explosion and top of the explosion. You generally don't see those in nuclear blasts (the shockwave is moving too fast) While it is a very bright flash use the headlights in the foreground as a comparision. It was definetly a massive explosion, but non-nuclear.

Dude its a 100 or 500 pound bomb it just looks big because of the night setting on the camera. Our (USA) smallest nuke was the "Davey Crockett" (and hasn't been used since 71') is 10000-20000 pounds(sometimes up to 50000. Even a Tactical nuke can take out a good part of a city and it helps if the most of the building are made out of mud. Also any bomb can make a mushroom cloud.

No one can explode a nuke by hitting it with a mortar round. It requires a complicated detonator and a special charge. Ask any scientist. And it would have flattened the whole area, that's for sure. The bright light is the "afterglow" of the light amplifying device which needs some time to "tone" down.

To say "bright flash" while looking through night vision is kind of irrespective. I was at Falcon Dec 05 to Nov 06. This wasn't a nuke. Mortar rounds hit the ammo dump causing ordance (artillery, mortars, small arms) to denotate for several hours.

This is a moderately large explosion. It is not nuclear in any way. The bright flash of light is from the fact that this was filmed using an infrared camera that is meant to be used in almost total darkness. Any very bright light will appear to be magnified.

a mushroom cloud is just formed from the rising hot air, and then when some of it cools, it falls over the top, and is sucked back in by the convection current. A small backyard explosion can produce a mushroom cloud. In fact, smoke rings are the same as a mushroom cloud, but just on a smaller scale. The exact principle is the same. So a mushroom cloud can not be used to identify whether it is a nuke or not. If u have any more questions, feel free to pm me
