  • Better here than in the studio

  • Definetly, it's just the best version ever... In my opinion BETTER than the studio version!

  • great cover of this from my son....channel name is primussux...lots of other great stuff too...covers and originals thanx:)

  • fuck yeah, check out my cover :) ill buy you icecream

  • Awessooome

  • Dave !! fucking calm down! maniac!

  • @c3789

More importantly, Nirvana was a tight sounding band. Dave Grohl was a powerhouse and Nirvana was all about dynamic. And Noveselic was a bassist who just added to the sound.

Honestly, the only disrespect I've ever seen Cobain get is for his guitar playing which is just made by self important people who happen to realize a lot of music is comprised of simple power chords. BUT from a song writer and melody writer point of view...I don't see too many people disrespect him or the band.

  • fake thats not real check out my channel theres the right one

  • @flo6473 it's not fake it's an early version

  • @c3789 whoa buddy. I mean i agree for the most part, but then theres the top 40 list of now and also "He created great sounding music that touched a lot of people in a profound way more so than any musician probably in history"? WTF?!?!! U can suck it for being retarded in the face

  • Cobain's "Technicality" on guitar is in total sympathy with his attitude so, that is art.

  • this is ART

  • @c3789 I totally agree. Art is art.

  • . . .It might be because I'm baked, but does the video send shivers down your spine? . . .Sorry to be a lame-stain, but Krist is lookin' a lot like Lukin, and Kurt's guitar sounds a little bit like Mudhoney?. .This is probably the best upload of Nirvana ever to be uploaded on YouTube, wow, is there any dates for this filming?. . .

  • Omfg, Nirvana at the Opera House!

That woulda been the most epic show ever!!! Wish I coulda been there.

..Opera House is by far my favorite venue in Toronto!

  • I fucking LOVE this solo.. This must have been after that interview at much music, Kurt was wearing that same shirt. So this is what? 91?

  • @StevooooooBell yea i think like 91 MAYBE 92 but not too sure

  • @StevooooooBell Yep, September 1991.

  • I pretty sure they were touring with Dinosaur at this time.....could be wrong, but I believe that awesome guitar solo of his was most likely a product of hearing Mascis tear it up on stage every night of the week.

  • omggg i wish i were alive to see thiss

  • @wahhappenn this just makes me laugh.

  • BEST PERFOMANCE OF THIS SONG. y punto...

  • @KurtCobainNevermind You can always try listentoyoutube(dot)com for MP3's of youtube videos. No, I'm not advertising, I just use it alot lol

  • Kurt Cobain, proving once and for all that beautiful singing doesn't come from the mouth and guitar playing is more than just fancy licks and perfects picks.. Truely amazing in a weird weird way!

  • what an amazing solo!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • People make such a big deal out of Cobain's limited technical abilities, they seem to think like no one in his righ mind would start a band being such a limited musician...well I have news for you, lots of bands -lots of great bands- have equally or more limited musicians, who play equally simple music. But the shit hits the fan only for Nirvana, just because the're famous I guess. That's double-standard.

  • @pentagonoenllamas Umm..Cobain was not limited at all. Just because he didn't show off every time doesn't mean anything. Those people are just jealous of Nirvana. Pure and simple. First and foremost Nirvana were a punk band. And Kurt was a punk rocker. He believed in punk ethics and 10 minute show-offy guitar solo's is what Kurt was NOT about anyway.

  • That solo was so amazing and just angle like :D R.I.P Kurt Donald Cobain.

  • Well this and all the other 91 performances should kill any lingering suspicion that Courtney Love wrote this song.

  • Oh God... Kurt's voice and lirycs are THE BEST ever!

    I love Nirvana < 3

  • Can someone give me the link of the live version of this song where kurts the only one playing. Its not as awsome as this one but i just cant find it.

  • @Nirvaaanaa I'm assuming you're talking about the MTV unplugged in New York show they did, which is an acoustic version. It's the only song of that show Kurt played by himself and it's the only time I know of that he did Pennyroyal tea alone live. Here's the link to that one, hope it's what you're looking for.

    /watch?v=5PZ0rbHesgE

  • @westpsmity no its not unplugged...

  • What if people link Nirvana to suicide solution?

  • @cingle2004jp honestly in my opinion i cant see why kurt would pull the triiger ... UNLESS he was so high off heroin that he just hated his lifestyle and knew it would be a fuckin pain to get outa that mess he was in with the junk... kurt was just too smart in my opinion to have done it... he knew who and what he was... being under the influence can alter ur perception of life temporarily and distort it so he... but dope just makes u feel 2 g00d to wanna blow ur brains out ... lol

  • Great performance!!

  • what year was this?

  • @captainwacky45 From the look of everyone and the version, I'm guessing this was 91-92, pre In Utero.

  • This live performance is WAY better than the album version. Listen to the drums, Listen to Kurt's voice, listen to that even better guitar solo.

  • 2:05 Fucking awesome drum fill.

  • @BeTheDeathOfMe

    2:07 actually, but agreed.

  • Comment removed

  • @niceguyjayson

I put 2:05 because if you link 2:07 It doesn't give you the whole part, but yes, you are right.

  • Comment removed

  • One of their best songs.

  • fuck yeah in canada punk rock

  • @c3789 Well put brother...I have many guitarists that I admire, but no one has touched my life like Kurt has...

  • "I'm on Percodans and Demerol...I have very bad posture..." I can relate to that. I was in a bad car accident 7 years ago and have to take that shit because my back is fucked up. Nirvana was, and still is my favorite band ever...R.I.P Kurt. We love and miss you...

  • Kurt rulessssss

  • This Is so wicked i played on the same stage as Nirvana, 1 of my biggest idols!!!

  • @c3789 dude thats the best thing ive ever read on YouTube.

  • kurt you are gone but not forgotten.....

  • ohh dude...

    that's awesome!

    dave fucking owns...

and kurt as always, fucking good!

these guys are gods and always they will be

    nirvana 4ever.

  • And here I thought that the solo from the album was amazing. This one definitely tops it!

  • This show is from September 20 1991.

  • De quando é este show?

  • What year is this from? O.o

  • kurt iks awesome and all-But he was still a fuck-head for blowing his own off,and leaving his son alone without a father-OR Fuck the cunts that killed him-Either way,it sucks.

  • @wavular - that would be a daughter, not a son

  • @clemahali my bad-yesi feel badly for his death, and his "Daughter" but also for the fact, that she now has a "mother" (And i use that term sparsley) who is a waste of skin like courtney love.

  • @wavular kurt doesnt have a son...

  • @wavular

your a fucking moron. first of all, if you knew anyting about kurt you would know that he had a daughter. And secondly, if your parents wern't siblings you would realize that the so called "suicide note" wasnt really a suicide not at all, it was "quitting music note" and when they tested his blood it showed that he was too high on smack that he wouldnt be able to lift a gun. Andd the last 4 lines of the note 9which make it look like a suiced note was written by courtney. ass hole

  • @koolmodee69 hey corporal fuckface,i know that-i even corrected myself in a comment above-who's the moron?

  • @koolmodee69 you build a tollerance to drugs you know. and he did heroine for a while so it wouldnt suprise me if it were a sucide. just saying.

  • @koolmodee69 you need to give up the conspiracy trip. watch some more recent interviews with Krist & Dave. if you can tell me that a trailer park princess whom knew the man for 2-3 years was intelligent enough to convince not one but both of them it was suicide, if you can tell me she's smart enough to know if her underwear is on backwards, well all i can say is you cautious in the dishing out of your first sentence. & it's "you're" a fucking moron.

  • I don't know much, but I know that Kurt played and sang well enough for over 50 million people to buy his music, and that's just here in the USA. So again, I don't know much, but Kurt touched quite a few people I would say, and they weren't watching how well, or not so well he played his guitar I guarantee you that. Hal2012 P.S. Heck I wish I could sing and play as crappy as Kurt and write the music he did. I would be doing pretty good right now financially.

  • Con't And for all those that play better than Kurt. Well, I bet most of them would trade their technicality for some of the money Kurt and friends made I assure you that much. :0-) Bottom line, Kurt touched lots of souls.

  • @c3789 Well I agree with you dude, for sure, that wasn't my point. Kurt Cobain is hands down my favorite musician, but he wasn't a very "technical" guitar player. Frankly, I'm glad at that, because when I hear bands like Coheed and Cambria or other prog rock groups that are more "technical" centered than soul centered, it sounds like utter garbage to me. I'm on your side here friend :)

  • @westpsmity i fully agree

  • Kurt cant play like santana or hendrix... But hendrix cant play like Kurt...

  • ah ha very true

  • Kurt was a great guitar player. It's just that he didn't like to show off often. Good thing he showed off in this performance! That solo was top-notch!

  • i never doubted kurt cobain was a good guitarist, i just think he was sloppy and didn't always try that hard. if he wanted to, he could have had much more recognition for his guitar playing than he got.

i just like the way they played this song in this video. it sounds more sincere than the studio recording if that makes sense.

  • he just played what he needed to.

he didnt need to wank his guitar neck to impress people.

  • @sMC193 I don't know man, he ranked #12 on rolling stones top 100 greatest guitarists of all time, that's pretty good recognition :)

  • @westpsmity I never understood that. how could he be in front of John Frusciante in that list ?

  • The list probably was based on a lot of factors, like stage presence, album sales etc.. Surely Kurt wasn't the best technical guitar player, and a lot of other lead guitarists could probably have played solos in circles around Kurt, but being a musician is about a lot more than just skill, so I'm guessing they took that into account.

  • maybe it was based on creative skills, like being able to come up with riffs

  • @xBorg6of9x

Mainly 2 reasons: the 4 solos of Hairspray Queen, and the ridiculously difficult goddamn impossible solo of aero zeppelin. Get the official Incesticide notebook and you will know what i mean.

  • carsetupmaster, I don't understand how that solo is impossible. it' great, but would you care to elaborate on your point?

  • you actually look to rolling stone magazine for their opinion. thats pretty sad

  • I didn't say that I went to them for their opinion, I was just responding to someone that said Kurt Cobain didn't get recognized for his guitar playing, and I was commenting that he infact was by their magazine. To be honest, I have never read the magazine beyond looking at a few of their lists to know if I respect their opinion or not.

  • Kurts voice is one of the best ever.

  • @mystro810 yur dumb, becuz u dont need to convince us of his greatness, we already know dude, hes been great since the early 90's that was 20 yrz ago, and u are a little late

  • @chadbling who is this "us" and "we" you are talking about? what is your cat sitting on your lap?

  • i like the way the solo cuts back into the last verse

  • i really like the way they play this song in this video

  • @scubaduba23 That solo, you know, is called punk, that is fucking attitude. So you go on diggin Zakk Wylde, or Slash or whatever.

  • ive played at the opera house before. :D

  • How does he get his guitar to squeal like that during the solo? What a great guitar player!

  • I love this man!

  • Woah... that solo really surprised me. Incredible.

  • the fans are going insane lol

  • When was this? My guess would be around '91

  • Yep, September 91..

  • this song wasnt made in 91

  • they played most of the in utero songs at live shows as early as 91. they were very different, as you can see.

  • it was actually made even before nevermind.

  • pennyroyal tea is my favouriteband

  • I never knew there was a band called pennyroyal tea, where are they from?

  • ä..h.. seatle?

  • so you mean to tell me there is a band called pennyroyal tea? I know Nirvana is from Seattle, but I never knew there was a band called pennyroyal tea as you stated in your comment 4 days ago. Did u mean to say that your favourite song was pennyroyal tea?

  • Comment removed

  • Its funny I tried looking for them on the net they dont exist. I couldnt find any videos of them on youtube, I wonder if they really exist. How good could they be if they have no publicity?

  • oh sorry it was my mistake i mean mr moustaches is my favourite band...

  • publicity doesnt make a band good or bad. you just have to listen to it.

  • pheraps you mean it's your favorite song

  • pheraps noo

  • That was a blistering solo! Sounded really cool!

  • we miss you amazing solo i will follow your steps soy mexican y voy a ser casi como tu

  • that solo is so eerie...just in time for halloween! :D

  • that was very cool. awesome

  • best live version.

  • 2:06 to 2:09 makes me jizz my pants

  • when was this show?

  • 1991, it was their first show in canada, I was working there

  • Incorrect. Nirvana actually played shows in Canada during 1989 and 1990.

  • ah maybe it was their first show in Toronto then

  • thats cool,i wish i could work somewhere like that.

  • 9/20/91 Opera House

    etc...

    c:

  • my favourite nirvana's song:)

  • i love nirvana but this video makes me feel suicidal as hell. and im not even depressed or anything.

  • I absolutely love and admire Kurt in every way but Dave was a pretty good drummer too!!!!

  • amazing song... NIRVANA 4ever!!!! Good Music 4ever too!!!

  • i miss the days when music was good, now we have shitty bands like escape the fate, attack attack and we came as romans..

  • dude ive never even heard of any of the 3...and im gonna be 15 in 30 days =o shows u how much new music sucks.

  • yea rock is like dead :/ it sux

  • its really sad the future of nirvana. im really glad kurt died long before his music was ever spoken by douchebags who say "grunge" mainstream" typical typical..the one's who wear red striped shirts, rock t-shirts of "alice in chains" ,ripped pants, think the pixies are influential, wear converse, and worship "stone temple pilots"....yay congrats!!! ur a fucking individual l!!!....Kurt must be laughing it up in his urn..=0

  • I think he gets enough chuckles from all of the crap that feeds the masses of teenage girls out there.

  • thank god someone finally had the balls to say this. thank u thank u thank u

  • "think the pixies are influential"

    They were. L2 Nirvana
