Why he showed up. He didn't want to leave her hanging. There was no guarantee that Blaine would do the right thing. Well, of course there REALLY was--it's a a Hollywood fantasy movie. But if it was real life.... he didn't want to leave her hanging all alone at the prom. You know right now the yuppies are giggling and laughing about her for losing Blaine and coming all alone.
Look at him right now--he's dressed with real flair. Looks all grown up and ready for prom.
i just watched pretty in pink for the first time. i watched it on tv and i dont remember seeing any jon cryer scenes at all? are there two versions of the movie?
I love this movie. But the begining of this clip makes her such a pouty chick. "Oh no... my boys aren't here... :< boohoo I can't have fun with out a boy.."
I wanted her to be with Duckie so much! I was disappointed with the ending. Duckie is just too cute and sweet and just all around amazing. If it were me, he would have definitely been my choice. :)
id go with duckie 100% hes hot,he can dance, hes been there for her for the longest time and deeply in love with her he shows it but she still goes with the sweet talker dont get me wrong i loved blane as well but duckie
oops...i meant that i thought he was doing that thing that people do when they say something all..."official" so my friend i was watching this with do that whole pointing down withh each other all the time!
when he was pointing at his shoes, i thought he was doing that pointing at his shoes thing, he was jjst doing that thing people do after they say something cool, so now me and my friend do that all the time!
And as a 46 year old man, I would not have it any other way - Love you Duck Man and Cryer - Thanks for the years of laughter - it's a gift that keeps on giving...
If I was her I would have went with Duckie, he was just too adorable. Sure Blane was cute and all but, Duckie was soooooo much better! Team Duckie ftw :D
She was a bitch in this movie. Duckie saved her that night. He escorted her into the Prom and she was not alone. They were both perfect for each other and should been the ones kissing in the end. Instead she gets back with the rich asshole who dumped her right before prom ? Insane! I was dumped before Prom in 1998 and I still have the emotional wound! I went to my Prom with a friend from middle school and only pretended to be having a good time when I was heartbroken
@AmericanEvita She's not a bitch. The bitchy thing to do would be to date a guy she didn't really love, get his hopes up, then end up dumping him years down the line because it never felt right. She tells Duckie the truth which is the kindest thing for him. So he can be free of her and go find someone who loves him back. She has to be true to herself and pick the guy she loves, not the one she should love. hell if we could choose who we loved life would be a lot simpler than it is.
This part makes me tear up...U see Andy at her most vulnerable point, she showed up to Prom alone.. What SO many girls fear the most! As she's standing there contemplating whether or not to enter, you can kind of see how she's holding back tears... Because no one wants to be alone on a night that you wait to experience the whole time you're in High School... Then, she looks up and there he is... She's not alone anymore! WOW John Hughes depicted this scene brilliantly!
What I love about Molly Ringwald is that she is living proof that unlike so many other Child Actors of her generation, she's living proof that you can have a life outside the industry and still be happy.
I think it'd be funny if Molly Ringwald showed up on Two And A Half Men, and she and Alan spend the whole episode wondering why each other looks familiar.
@Jeff98177 Annie Potts (Ione, the record store owner from Pretty in Pink) was in an episode of Two and Half Men. She's sitting on the couch with Jon Cryer and it's crazy to see them together again lol.
@Jeff98177 Idk I saw an episode of Spin City like that where Christopher Lloyd visited Michael J. Fox and they kept making obvious Back to the Future jokes that had me rolling my eyes, but maybe if it happened like that, but instead say that they actually went to prom or somethin like that, it'd be a character cross-over, like one big less obvious in-joke
@moviehypno23 I like the subtle inside jokes myself. There was an episode of According To Jim where Julie Newmar (Catwoman in the 1966 Batman TV series) guest-starred, and her character owned a dog. One of the characters says "I could never see her owning a dog. She seems more like a cat woman to me." and everyone else nodded solemnly.
@AKAjocey lol You're missing the point. They're not playing the people they played in the movie, but different people. Of course they know who they are IRL, but their characters in the show have no idea.

@redkqueen1989 never mind...the tv guide had mislabeled the movie sixteen candles as pretty in pink.

when he says "despite my appearance at this fuction" does he mean that he is there or the way he looks?

All the girls seem to prefer Duckie, except me. Blane is way cuter in my opinion.

The smile on her face is priceless. It's too bad in real life, so few girls would pick Duckie.
