As a musician myself (chiefly a Bass Guitarist, but i do some syynth) - I am not as excited about our older work, nice and proud of (some of) it as i am, its far more interesting, as a musician working on the latest projects and ideas taking place *right now* .. so I understand many fans who like the old stuff too.. but on the other side of the coin, as a fan, indeed as a huge Paul Gardiner / Numan fan i prefer the older stuff too..
And Gary desen't like nostalgia (going back to move foward), us Numan fans should know that. So for some of these people to want him to go back to his BB days, its not going to happen, and im glad for that.
Gary Numan is not the type of guy who tries to go back to his early days. that will make him too limited. I like his new stuff. Yes he has that sound that influence NIN, but since NIN influenced Numan, and Numan influenced NIN, whats the problem lol? If it wasen't for Numan's influence, and other artists that help create industrial, NIN wouldn't sound like who they are to have there own sound. Since Trent influence him, he has more right than anyone to borrow back a few ideas.
you guys are crazy....The new stuff is just as powerful...Wereyou litening to what he was saying then and now ? I love the old stuff to just as much. But Sacrifice on totally rocks!!! But i like anything he does sing the yellow pages ill dig it!!!!
i didnt know that people in the biz were asking him to stop with the newer stuff, i'm sure they are saying its not so much nostalgia, but that he is at is best with stuff like telekon, replicas et-al. i dont think any of us is wanting him to do a telekon part 2 or a replicas part 2, but go back to his best stuff.
I remember this song, but can't exactly remember the single. I remember it had a live Call Out The Dogs on it aswell.
This song is so beautiful. The atmosphere of it, is amazing. I loved it back when you bought a single and the b sides blew you away. Much like the Berserker and My Dying Machine singles
As I was saying I liked "Change Your Mind" but I found a lot of the other Sharpe and Numan stuff to be completey rubbish, well the following singles to that anyway as I didn't get the albums where they collabrated. And New Thing From London as a single I thought was weak from him
And I love the more darker stuff, even if it is a bit Goth
To be honest. I Love everything he does. My only exception was Machine & Soul and Outland... One or two tracks off them both and thats it. as far as those two albums go. But, to date my favourite album has been and still is Telekon... But I like the new stuff too. Love Jagged and Pure. Powerfull stuff. Just love whatever he does because Im a Numan fan .
Thanks im glad you like it. yeh i know what you mean about his new stuff.Ive got a feeling after the pleasure princible tour in november thing just might change. lets hope eh. All the best to you, take care.
I agree with both of you. Can't stand anything he puts out now, but after hearing his new song The Fall, i highly doubt he'll go back to his classic synth albums like Dance, Pleasure Principle, and Telekon. Hell, I read that people are begging him to stop the depressing nin soundalike songs and go back to his roots. Not just fans, but peope in Music also are telling him that, so hopefully he'll listen to them.
I think we all feel the same about that subject here. I have'nt enjoyed a Numan album in years. I think he went downhill with Outland, but I'd take Outland and Machine+Soul over Jagged and Pure anyday of the week. it just is'nt Numan to me, his newer stuff sounds like someone trying to make money with nin rip offs.
I don't think there's no turning back, but I could be wrong. I'ld love to see another album like The Fury or Dance, with the Jazzy feel and heavy synth.

I just got this on the Metal Rhythm reissue. Love this tune, and the My Sying Machine remix.
