  • ♫ ...not that i don't like waltzing, would rather be waltzing with you ♫

  • @MoonHoplite hm.. I find what you're saying quite impossible O.o ... Not many "immature teenage girls" even know who he is. And who cares if they think he is cute.. He is. Can't change that. But also in my opinion his music is very beautiful. It speaks to people really.. I just don't think you should go labeling his fan base. Every person who enjoys his music is of every age I do believe, and I think I'd have to say the "immature teenage girl" fan base would be the lowest.

  • Boring. . .

  • i don't know why but when i'm listening to rufus i always get the feeling that i've already heard the harmonies he uses somewhere else.. maybe on classical music.. chopin? schubert? i don't know... i came here to see if anyone felt the same but i guess not. anyway, terrific song

  • @gomezz Well I imagine that those pieces influence him. He is known for listening to those type of things. I know at the end of "between my legs" you can clearly hear a bit of phantom of the opera.

  • @gomezz Rufus is a classically trained musician. He is an avid fan of opera and studied piano at Concordia and McGill Universities in Montreal. Many times art inspires art so it isn't a surprise that you recognized some similar progressions. He even copies the lyrics in one song directly from the opera, Macbeth by Verdi. I personally think he is an amazing talent and I respect him greatly. I have many friends in the music community and I know 1st hand how difficult it can be to get in.

  • Rufus breaks my heart. Every time.

  • Is this song on a film? I'm sure I'veheard it somewhere before :-s

  • @saz19126 Yes, in Hell!

  • Rufus is beyond perfection. his music never gets old, he's a genius and i can't even describe how much he and his music mean to me.

  • Just fantastic. No other words needed!

  • He's in a class by himself. I am constantly amazed and in awe of his talent. Love his melodies, his vocals, his piano playing, and the real human emotions he puts into each of his songs. What an amazing performer and songwriter he is!! He has no peers.

  • he's such an excellent singer!!!

  • Is there anyway I can get a copy of THIS live version on a file? It's my favorite version of this song....just wondering.

  • If you ever get a chance to see Rufus live, go. He puts on a terrific concert. He is talented in every way, and when he performs alone -- just him and the piano or guitar without any machines or back-up -- he shines like the true star he is.

  • could you elaborate for me?

  • HELL , ce film ma fait decouvrir cette musique

  • Rufus is way under-appreciated these days. People don't know what they're missing

  • Really? I couldn't care less who his fan-base is, he is a fantastic writer and performer.

  • What are you, A Sexist or an Agist? What is wrong with being young and a girl?

  • what world do you live in? I've met very few people younger than myself who have even HEARD of Rufus Wainwright, let alone teenage girls.

  • his fans are huge and diverse not just teenage/immature girls. And so what if you think he'd cute? Hell, I do!

  • @MoonHoplite You are way off base

  • Merci

  • Uwielbiam tego gościa.

  • ja też:D

  • une merveille...

  • One of my favorites.

  • Emotions.

  • I listen to Rufus every day. His songs never get old.

  • This consoles me like nothing else ever could.

  • I don't know why, but I can't stop listening to this song.

  • His voice is so powerful and beautiful.

  • the way of singing used in ancient times

  • Simply.... no words. Amazing, one of the best songwriters i've ever heard, and I love his voice too!

  • J'adore !

  • Stupenda canzone, da brivido!

  • more greetings from Poland. NIEWIARYGODNY JESTES RUFUS. kOCHAM CIĘ.

  • Amazing voice, amazing song. Greetings from Poland

  • His music definitely carries you into a space. I think he is a lovely musician. As well as I do notice the distinctions between songs, I do notice similar vocal intros to a lot of songs.

  • magnifique

  • MAGNIFIQUE

  • wow!

  • Such an incredible singer/performer. I loooooove him

  • My Dad and I are HUGE Rufus fans!!! :-) In fact my Dad cries whenever he hears Greek song...he he...but he says is correctly when he says his voice is "haunting" - absolutely, and just beautiful.

  • he's the rodgers and hart of our generation, writing songs that will be recorded 50 years from now; this and "the art teacher" are modern standards. i'm always stunned by his phenomenal talent. a great songwriter; a great performer.

  • funny you should say that.

I imagine songs like this being performed by ella fitzgerald or other great jazz singers. when he goes real low, "just away from this love affaaaair..." god I wish I could hear ella sing that!

not that I don't love rufus' voice, because I do, but modern standards they are indeed. classic

  • why are all the men who are good looking, have a great personality and are really talented, gay!! well i'm 15 anyway so i've got no chance haha

    love you Rufus!!!!

  • You'll just have to deal with us - flawed heterosexual men. Haha.

  • @johnnydobsessed I just wish all gay men were good-looking and talented with great personalities. :p

  • Rufus singing this song is so overwhelming, he never fales to make me cry...

  • Cannot get sick of this song,, amazing voice,,,love rufus

  • Just beautiful. Might be my favorite.

  • absolument magnifique.....

  • Incredible.

  • I keep discovering songs in his albums. No matter how often I listen right through I get surprised. Billie Holiday would have loved this song.

  • so i finally work through my infatuation with "the art teacher," move ahead two tracks on "want two" and find this phenomenally gorgeous, haunting song. i'll say it again and stand by it: he's the most insanely talented, original songwriter of our time.

  • chilling song. absolutely beautiful

  • what a powerful and accurate capture of the ripped and torn emotion born of a painfull separation from love.

  • This is so unbelievably beautiful. You can hear his heart and soul in every note. I think stunning is the right word for this performance as well.

  • ....lol... I also think Stunning for the sad..emotional voice...

  • Stunning, chilling and profound performance. Every time I hear it I feel like my heart is breaking. This song is one of the best at showcasing his amazing voice.

  • Rufus, you are so beautiful!

  • I love his beautiful..sad..emotional voice

  • La chanson de Hell <3

  • too beautifully chilling for words.

  • I think this is from a program called "Songs From A Room" on an Irish channel called RTE 2. He also sang Hallelujah
