  • beautiful.

  • Never understood the draw of Warren Beatty - he couldn't act worth crap.

  • The things you learn on this show! I'd never heard of Beat the Dealer.

  • good lord he was HOT back then!!

  • Beatty was hot then but such a douche bag all he did was sleep around Hollywood. But I still love him lol

  • Bonnie and Clyde.......................

  • I like Beatty's glasses.

  • WB is a narcissist (NPD)

  • I think Warren Beatty was one of the first actor/.independent producers in hollywood. Prior to his marriage he was a notorious playboy and a perfectionist.

  • Warren Beatty's performance on this show reminds of when Errol Flynn guested...The panelists became increasingly annoyed with him, because of the poor and sometimes unintelligible voice...He was actually born in Nova Scotia, Canada, so isn't it incorrect to say that Warren is "American-born"?...Warren's sister is Shirley MacLaine, which some people are surprised when they learn that...Warren never seems to do well on talk shows, giving a speech or as an interviewee, but he's brilliant on screen.

  • @pagalley1 Warren Beatty and his sister Shirley MacLaine were both born in Richmond, Virginia and I dare say that Warren himself would not have given that answer incorrectly.

  • @reno1uest You're right, thanks for clarifying that, re where Warren was born.

  • How do they know? ONLY clue was about to be in a movie. I guess that narrows it down sufficiently!

  • A good actor and a good producer

  • I had no idea Warren Beatty went back that far, he has held up well over the years, he looks the same as he did when he hooked up with Madonna in this

  • Stop all the complaining about Beatty and just enjoy the hotness...

  • @toastedcheeser

    Couldn't agree more :)

  • @toastedcheeser he's so hot.

  • @toastedcheeser What hotness? ;oP Hotness is subjective. I think he was kind of cute, but Sal Mineo was much, much cuter :o)

  • @toastedcheeser

    LOL!

  • Wonder why Beatty stuck on glasses for this--to look more intelligent? To see? Wish Beatty had done a romantic picture with his sister Shirley MacLaine (who remains as famous as he is) just to yank the living hell out of people's chains. They supposedly discussed it occasionally back in the late 60s when their careers were commensurately huge but passed on it for obvious reasons.

  • @Ahoymichael , he did wear glasses in real life - not always in public but he did wear them.

  • 5:17 what a hoot.

  • this guy is like an overgrown kid

  • Regarding the color last season - 1967 is too soon for the average home viewer to have a VHS/Beta recorder, but I know that people like Bing Crosby and Red Skelton (and I think Gleason as well) had them by this time, so they did exist. Isn't this how some earlier Johnny Carson Tonight Shows still float around - personal tapings? I want to believe that somewhere there is one bit of color WML around.

  • September 1966 -- last Sunday night season, episode 2:

aside from an experimental 1954 color broadcast, this is the first What's My Line broadcast in color.

G-T did not have the sense to preserve this season on color videotape. True, videotape was expensive in 1966, and thank heaven they did preserve the series on kinescope, but you would hope they preserved at least THIS episode's color videotape.

Rumors abound that 1966-7 color videotapes survive, but none have surfaced yet.

  • WML? Billiards EDH1712 preserves one of the contestants on this historic broadcast -- an 8 year old boy who performed trick billiard shots for a living.

Sue Oakland continues WML's tradition of bright lady journalist panelists -- Dorothy Kilgallen, Suzy Knickerbocker, Sue Oakland, and eventually in syndication Melba Tolliver.

  • Beatty was not an idiot. You can't make or direct the movies he did and be a fool. He was just kind of a low key guy.

  • This guy was beautiful and knew it, but what a dim bulb!! I can't believe so many people mistook his vacant stares and delayed responses for introspection!!!

  • @spagandtuna Beatty may be a lot of things, but dumb ain't one of them.

  • @kolst8406 What gives you the idea this guy is intelligent? I'm really interested in understanding where that belief comes from. Hey, I liked Reds but I don't see how that flick translated to such assumptions. I have seen many Beatty interviews and always knew exactly where he was going before he got there; also saw his political views as correctly cynical but always at the depth of a pedestrian.

  • @spagandtuna From your original comment, I assumed you didn't know about his career behind the camera. Knowing about his career and claiming he's not intelligent isn't credible; if you disagree with his politics, just say so.

  • @kolst8406 Hold on bucko. My own politics are in some ways to the left of Beatty's. My conclusions are based on the pat liberal responses he gave to interviewers, his deer in the head lights look, and the fact that everything that came out of his mouth seemed uninspired. He was given a free pass because the narcissism he dripped got through to the true believers on the left. In actuality, Beatty has contributed nothing to political discourse. His smart move was to decline to run for office.

  • @kolst8406 dumb IS one of them.

  • @nerdflanders8710 Nah, he's quite bright.
