The PS3 discs just can hold more information, to be honest. It has all this crap to do with blu ray or some bullcrap. But basically, the Xbox 360's discs hold less information. I own the Xbox 360 version, and I really don't care. The game barely looks different and anybody who says it looks horrible is a lying loser. It's not like it's Nintendo 64 quality or anything.
Xbox owners you shouldn't feel need to express anything really. we all know, well people witt actual brain know that graphics and audio was compressed. Sadly we don't have any DISC format to hold more then 8GB or we'll be running with uncompressed game. at end of the day it only matters what you believe.

but IMO if you're going to release your game on more than one platform you shouldn't gimp one just to get the other one out faster. big ups to SE for doing it right and holding off the international release date. the difference IS there, but it's hardly noticeable unless you're looking for it.
@xxrandomxxx the difference is there, and its very noticeable. i have both version. the cutscenes on the 360 look down ritgh pathetic, there is screen tearing on the optional missions that you do, and it looses frames sometimes in battle sequance specially when there is allot of stuff going on and you do a stagger on the enemy.

It's true, the video/audio was compressed on the 360, where as the ps3 was uncompressed. But that doesn't mean the "graphics are better on ps3" it just means they didn't want to print out a lot of discs for 360 and cheaped out to compress the video instead.
Yeah that is pretty much it in the end, they had to add some heavy compression. The type that is quality lowering but rendering speed and so on is quite darn equal.

depends if that disk is disk 1, because if you installed all 3 disks to the 360s HDD you dont have to worry about if disk 2 or 3 breaks or get damaged.
Does the North American releases really don't have a japanese voice option to change it? I read earliry articles from like may 2009 saying that the ps3 version will have an option to switch between jap and eng audio. But I dont see it...

You know what the main difference between 360 and PS3 is. The PS3 version comes in full 1080 HD. The 360 version comes with 720p HD. That is the only major difference between the looks of the two, other than that, there is no difference.

The box doesn't always tell you the truth, while the box for the 360s version says 1080p its upscaled from 576p. it can do this because the 360 has a scaler chip in it, The PS3 don't, for the PS3 its either the native resolution in this case 720p or SD if your HDtv somehow dont support 720p. but the 360s version isn't true HD because it's upscaled from a sub HD resolution. Yes i seen the comparison videos, The difference is there, most people can't see it or know its there.
The 360 version lacks some lighting effects, lacs allot of self shadows, has a poorer detail distance due to the textures being at a lower screen resolution, but they are minor, the game is still good.

Nah, yesterday I bought this game and wondered what system I wanted it for. I decided 360. I thought that since its on three disks they may of had some better graphics because they didn't have to pack it into one disk like on the ps3. I like it on 360.
I thought that too, but I looked it up, and the reason they did that was because they Couldn't fit it on one disc, and to even be able to fit it on 3 they had to compress a lot and had to reduce the quality a significant amount. I guess even with that they were dissapointed on how it came out on the 360. I honestly though see no difference.
@Ian758 ps3 is bluray, means it uses a finer blue laser to read the bionary code. one dual layered blu ray is 50 gigabytes and a dual layered dvd (as in xbox games) is 7 gigabytes. anyone who owns a ps3 know the game size, detail, and sound quality over the 360. and yes a 7.1 linear pcm at 96 khrz is a big difference over dolby 5.1. and you think bluray is big, look up co-linear holographic discs, they're up to a terabyte. ( thats 1000 gigabytes)

you can play at 720p and 1080 but the the CGI and somewhat in game is rendered really low, not sure by how much but it looks really compressed, maybe its just me or the the cg cutscene look really compressed and i play at 1080p
trophies are better in my opinion, theyre more organized and better to read, id rather say to a friend, "my trophy level is at 10 with 56%" then "my gamerscore is 2875456" and Final Fantasy XIII looks awful on xbox 360 and u have to use 3 discs

You can tell when it comes down to the lighting on the 360 vs PS3, the 360 lacks a few effects. plus you can tell that the CGI video shows macroblocks during animation movement.

I'm pretty sure the discs won't be a problem...but the video and audio compression.....ouch...keep in mind that you can have 50 GBS of data on a blu-ray disc..so the xbox version should only have about 20 something gigs across 3 dvds. Soooo thats a lot of compression. I was pretty excited back in 2008 when I only had an xbox but now that I have a ps3 (uncharted 2 owns ^.^) I'll be getting this game on ps3 for sure.

the xbox 360 will have like a major compression because the demo that came with the advent children complete was like 5gb in size so the real game could take all of the ps3's disc space while xbox 360 would have like 5 discs even with major compression.
the xbox 360 has like 8.5 GBs and it would actually be 7GBs in eac disk cuz more that 1Gb goes to security and anti-piracy protections and that kind of stuff. while the ps3's blu ray disc has like 50Gbs of space.

It don't matter how powerful a console is, if it lacks the bluetooth hardware it cant use it. The PS3 has built in bluetooth wireless on the board not on its CPU or GPU. The low end 20gb PS3 lacked wifi because it lacked the hardware on the motherboard, not because it was less powerful. the ammount of power a said system has don't determine if it can or can't do something. BTW the 360 can use wireless headset if it uses the same wireless tech the controller does, it lacks the bluetooth hardware.

its better to buy it on the ps3 because it has fast loading times on 1 disc. and visuals is superior then its enemy xbox360. just remember if you buy the 360 and if 1 disc is broken or missing you FF13 will be unplayable

depends if that disk is disk 1, because if you installed all 3 disks to the 360s HDD you dont have to worry about if disk 2 or 3 breaks or get damaged.

Does the North American releases really don't have a japanese voice option to change it? I read earliry articles from like may 2009 saying that the ps3 version will have an option to switch between jap and eng audio. But I dont see it...

You know what the main difference between 360 and PS3 is. The PS3 version comes in full 1080 HD. The 360 version comes with 720p HD. That is the only major difference between the looks of the two, other than that, there is no difference.

The lists you will find are not official and might not be up to date, or not correct or go by the box (which might be the upscaled results).

The box doesn't always tell you the truth, while the box for the 360s version says 1080p its upscaled from 576p. it can do this because the 360 has a scaler chip in it, The PS3 don't, for the PS3 its either the native resolution in this case 720p or SD if your HDtv somehow dont support 720p. but the 360s version isn't true HD because it's upscaled from a sub HD resolution. Please do some research before you reply again because you know absolutely nothing what your talking about. lol I own a 360.

This game was ment for ps3, ported to xbox 360, we got audio compressed, who knows what else but lets leave it at audio only., if you see the footage SE did comparing both, you'll see ps3 looks abit better then xbox version. but again it was ported to xbox 360 which is.

Yes i seen the comparison videos, The difference is there, most people can't see it or know its there.
The 360 version lacks some lighting effects, lacs allot of self shadows, has a poorer detail distance due to the textures being at a lower screen resolution, but they are minor, the game is still good.

@madmax2069 you may not remember this comment but, right you are! oh, except ps3 has an upscaler too. and did you know the higher the upscaling the more antialiasing is required and this runs the processor harder and creates lower textures. so playing in the native definition is better. like MW2 is 600p so a 720p setting renders better textures than 1080p. neat.

Nah, yesterday I bought this game and wondered what system I wanted it for. I decided 360. I thought that since its on three disks they may of had some better graphics because they didn't have to pack it into one disk like on the ps3. I like it on 360.

I thought that too, but I looked it up, and the reason they did that was because they Couldn't fit it on one disc, and to even be able to fit it on 3 they had to compress a lot and had to reduce the quality a significant amount. I guess even with that they were dissapointed on how it came out on the 360. I honestly though see no difference.

@Ian758 ps3 is bluray, means it uses a finer blue laser to read the bionary code. one dual layered blu ray is 50 gigabytes and a dual layered dvd (as in xbox games) is 7 gigabytes. anyone who owns a ps3 know the game size, detail, and sound quality over the 360. and yes a 7.1 linear pcm at 96 khrz is a big difference over dolby 5.1. and you think bluray is big, look up co-linear holographic discs, they're up to a terabyte. ( thats 1000 gigabytes)

trophies are better in my opinion, theyre more organized and better to read, id rather say to a friend, "my trophy level is at 10 with 56%" then "my gamerscore is 2875456" and Final Fantasy XIII looks awful on xbox 360 and u have to use 3 discs

You can tell when it comes down to the lighting on the 360 vs PS3, the 360 lacks a few effects. plus you can tell that the CGI video shows macroblocks during animation movement.
But to all the other folks bickering about the 360 port of this game, at least it got made for the 360.
Even with its limitations i still enjoy my 360, and glad that they ported it over to it.

I'm pretty sure the discs won't be a problem...but the video and audio compression.....ouch...keep in mind that you can have 50 GBS of data on a blu-ray disc..so the xbox version should only have about 20 something gigs across 3 dvds. Soooo thats a lot of compression. I was pretty excited back in 2008 when I only had an xbox but now that I have a ps3 (uncharted 2 owns ^.^) I'll be getting this game on ps3 for sure.

the xbox 360 will have like a major compression because the demo that came with the advent children complete was like 5gb in size so the real game could take all of the ps3's disc space while xbox 360 would have like 5 discs even with major compression.
the xbox 360 has like 8.5 GBs and it would actually be 7GBs in eac disk cuz more that 1Gb goes to security and anti-piracy protections and that kind of stuff. while the ps3's blu ray disc has like 50Gbs of space.

Yeah the decision to not include wifi was retarded on their part but thats one of the few reasons why the 360 cost half as much as the PS3.
Blue-ray, wifi, removeable HDD, Bluetooth, Free online. rechargeable controller, tilt axis controller, PS2 hardware on the PS3s motherboard all added to the cost.

It don't matter how powerful a console is, if it lacks the bluetooth hardware it cant use it. The PS3 has built in bluetooth wireless on the board not on its CPU or GPU. The low end 20gb PS3 lacked wifi because it lacked the hardware on the motherboard, not because it was less powerful. the ammount of power a said system has don't determine if it can or can't do something. BTW the 360 can use wireless headset if it uses the same wireless tech the controller does, it lacks the bluetooth hardware.

Im a big fan of the FF saga, back from the days of the Super Nes.
You are wrong i think true fans does care about where the game can be play better.
I own the 2 systems and im really looking foward to see where i can play the game is optimal conditions.

Well my friend we will just have to agree to disagree on the whole true gamer thing i never really cared about which game console was better than the other just happy i have the consloe that said game is comming out on but to each hes own i guess btw if your all about geting a game for best console then get it for the ps3 seeing as how it was built for the ps3 in mind than got ported over to the xbox360
