i kinda wish i was born in wen my arents were born cuz there were alot more kids and stuff dont get me wrong i LUV the tv lol but its get boring easily, and i wish kids went outside more im usally the only 1 outside :'(
jesus christ this scene always reminds me of my brother, my best friends and i. every summer we would just run to the local park and play baseball for hours until it was pitch black. technology has really ruined the best of us
@ANTBOND004 Best comment you could post to this.. I'd give about anything to go back to the days walking to the park at noon and playing ball till the sun went down.. Great stuff man
baseball was life. Still is even though i dont play anymore. I bet we all remember moments like this growing up. having friends who felt the same way bout baseball. it chokes you up cause you see yourself in those kids shoes cause you were those kids at one time. and you know exactly how the awestruck faces felt when you see something like fireworks over your baseball. i cant explain it, but i know how they felt at that very moment in time
I was watching Sun Night Football just now & a Chevy commercial popped up on my tv playing that Ray Charles song. I was like this sounds familiar & then I said oh yeah it's from the Sandlot. This right there made me want to watch this scene and now I'm here. I'm a 23 yr old male and to this day this scene still chokes me up like a baby. I don't know why, it's just something about it that hits me. Really awesome! Like everybody mentions before me, this also sums up my childhood. Miss those days.
Since everyone is sharing their baseball memories - me and my friends used to go to this unused movie theater parking lot to play till the sun goes down. The light poles were the foul poles and we drew somewhat of a diamond lol. We played facing the movie theater wall (which was pink) and we called it the "pink monster" lol. We also used it for touch football since it was wide and had many lines we could use as sidelines
Ah my childhood... when we played w/o keeping score, just to play
When I was 13 myself and several great friends would meet at the elementary school and play pick up games all morning. Still to this day probably my favorite young memories. The freedom we felt we had to play the game and have fun was more fun than any structured game I can remember. I think the kids these days miss out with the competitiveness and the coaches who are out to win and do not allow the players to just play. Games are for kids, adults only mess it up.
@mjmitch33 Freedom is keyword here. Though I remember this older lady that lived across the street that didn't care for the kids having harmless fun. She was kind of the dog of Sandlot
its so sad, i remember gathering up all my friends in the summer and going to play baseball or football or whatever we felt like playing that day... nowadays every kid is either playing xbox or is to busy to do stuff like this... places like the sandlot is where the game is really learned, the organized sports of today are ruining the heart and soul of sports
i played this in my backyard over the summer with my portable dvd player and like everyone came outside and started cheering
