  • He have a nice tone! that the kind I am looking for

  • the black yngwie!

  • I went to MI in ´95l! OMG the drums, the keyboard, the guitar - the overall sound is so corny. These people have no shame..

  • My master!

  • Increible Macalpine :D turur tu ru trurururruuuuuu

  • I don't mean to sound racist at all or anything so I hope this doesn't go misunderstood... but when i listen to it I far from imagined a black guy playing this O.o I imagined some pale european dude with hair down to this thighs head banging. This sounds great!

  • @ShaneRaweewon I feel you, my man. We are out there, Hell I play a lot of Yngwie, Joe Stump, and other neo-classical metal.

  • DAMN!!!!.......HE stole all my $&*#!!!!!

  • its not fair i showed this guy everything he knows on the guitar yet i still get no respect

  • The God of guitar is only one.

  • Look closely...he using the pick of destiny!!

  • hahaha this sucks really hard. hahahah. whats the point. emotionless shit. game-boy

  • @BirdOfPreyvsSparrow THIS sucks?...lolol..man your a tough customer..that's like saying Michael Jackson couldn't perform....try these../watch?v=UAIUbQv617c................./watch?v=D3-TgDjcBL0

  • @BirdOfPreyvsSparrow Let me guess, you're a justin beiber fan right ? Or maybe you're a Boy George fan from way back.

  • @BirdOfPreyvsSparrow - I hereby name thee - PoleOfPrayvsBrownStarfish. Now run back to the closet and continue to rusty trombone your aids-ridden grandpappy.

P.S. Go buy some lotion for the nutrash on your chin.

  • guitarrista colaborador de steve vai wonderful

  • I'd like to watch this guitar duet ==> Tony Mac vs Greg Howe

  • macalpine is the fucking legend!!

  • amazing!

  • Tony goes way back to the early 80's.like Yngwie J. Malmsteen. Is stuff is hard to find. I used to have all of it. He also did this album called "Project Driver". There are a lof of people on it you may know. All is stuff is good. I mean real good. It triped me out when I found out he played with Steve Vai. Which he plays mostly keyboards and some guitar. If you like him you will probably like Chris Impellitteri.

  • dude there used to be a vid from this same concert for 100's of 1000's and it was the best version i have ever heard but you cant find it on here anymore!

  • Tony is the one and only "God of guitar playing". Noone ever mastered this instrument like he does. His guitar-playing is like an orgasm for the ears!

  • @xynomy He's a master as well as a few others. Malmsteen, Becker, Marty, Jeff Loomis. Just to name a few. ^.^

  • @CreatorOfChaosxx Loomis does not belong in the same group as those players imo. he is good, damn good, but not in the same league.

    otherwise i agree.

  • thats my nigga!

  • Best ever!!!

  • ok 2 things, #1 i hear ALOT of vinnie is tony's playing and ALOT of tony in vinnie's playing. they almost sound the same. #2 all this talk of drummers can they compare to peart?

  • @lifetaker1234 man people need to shut the fuck up about Peart, he may be good but he's in Rush so it ends with that. Mike Tyranno is way better

  • @Gaishredic i believe you mean Mike Terrana, and peart is drumming better than Mike Terrana even at his old age. you forgot the effects age can do to a drummer. thats why people try to compare Peart to younger drummers in these emo shit bands. pearts has been drumming longer than others have been alive

  • @DegraDeadlock Thats tommy aldridge, he's great but I dont think he's as accomplished as MP. Listen to MP's early stuff on the images and words tour. it'll blow you away!

  • Fuge my nuggets this guy rock my dick socks, hombo salads!

  • i agree, thats all, im going to be a jerk and only say i agree

  • is that tommy aldrige on drums. i know tommy played drums for vinnie on minds eye and so did tony (on 2nd guitar).

  • this is mike terrana on drums...

  • It is funny, because most of the neo classical guitar players dress like if they were in medieval times, and he is so relaxed about his image, lol. Anyway it is good 5/5

  • Macalpine is the only neo-classical 80s guy that I like (beside Yngwie when he first came out....not now) A huge cut above the rest.

  • Come on he is just a dude playing guitar, some really fine guitar I might add! What does what he's wearing have to do with anything?

  • One of my all time favorite songs by him. not too big a fan of this live version of the song though....

  • Why is he dressed like a white trash hillbilly?

  • Why wouldn't he be?

  • it was the 90's. haha

  • 1996.

  • It was the 90's!!! You never saw the grunge movement clothes?

  • because he's fucking awesome!!!!

Seriously though, a guy that can play guitar like that can wear whatever he wants.

  • Nah,it matters, image should enhance the music,I rather just listen to the record instead.

  • Yes it does a disfavor to the music

  • Ich liebe seine Muetze und Hemd sehr.

  • thanks mate. it looks like b.c. rich to me too. maybe a assassin. the headstock looks a little different, thats why i asked. cheers mate.

  • bc rich gunslinger

  • Yeah thinking about it, it looks like a gunslinger. Thanks mate.

  • It definately looks like an STIII to me, But it could be a custom gunslinger 3 or something like that.

  • Tony Mac @ MI 96 - Sacred Wonder

  • don't forget to check out Tony Macalpine SACRED WONDER

  • what guitar is he playing?

  • i know its a b.c. rich. not what kind

  • Also, as I've said before, you know you're good when you invent a technique. That sweep tapping is from beyond..

  • Jowildcat and Tunicanl,

your comments are right on target. I've Always said Tony"s melodies stick in your head days after hearing the song. Testament to a true master. His chord voicings a just lush and sublime. It's understandable why he is also an award winning concert pianist. If your like color and tasteful melodies, also check out Gary moore"s "the loner". just my humble opinion.

  • So much virtuous color in his style. Gives that feeling that he could put any thought into his fingertips and make them sing.

This is my first time listening to his playing, and I'm amazed.

  • Tony is the man . Not only can he shred like a mofo, but his songs sound well thought out, and you can sing along with the melody, so much that it gets stuck in your head. Much better than ynwinge anyday, he dosent have to show off with a speed lick every note of the song.

  • Wow this is epic! He should be riding a horse over fire to slay a dragon while playing this!

  • @Unknownbmxr / Funny you mention that as I always thought he would have been awesome with Ronnie James Dio!

  • @Unknownbmxr Yeah! Really amazing!!!

  • This boy is B>A>D. but then u already know that. Tony is a beast.

  • The only thing cooler than Tony taking us to the woodshed is him looking like he just came back from chopping wood. Love the stage look....nuttin' but business, where's my ax?

  • Tony Macalpine = Guitar God !

  • Comment removed

  • This guy is just a genius mann. AWESOME

  • Better enjoy the sound rather than read nuts you all talk about. :)

  • whatever! this shit has so much feel, chord progression is the key to a good song, love how he bounces from shreddin and then up a whole note gives it such a great sound. im not even gonna go into the licks...DAMN!

  • Yeh, Tony is a little off but Mike T. is rushing every fill as usuall and that makes it very hard to play long linear phrases and especially long arpegios. The whole bottom of the groove you are counting on to time the lick falls out from under you.I know this because I do alot of fast picking and it is hard to be precise when the drummer sounds like someone building cabinets behind you.If you are a shredder that plays live and not just in your bedroom, I'm sure you know what I mean!

  • The rhythm beast waits for no man I guess!

    lol

  • lol.. that was funny

  • Tony is one of my all time favorite guitar gods, but I have to agree that his timing does seem off here throughout the song. He's having fun, and that's what matters, but the precision is definitely off. It's just noticeable enough to affect my overall enjoyment of the song. Otherwise, still a good song.

  • Hey Mr Paul: I`ve never known Tony to use single coils. Not even single coil size humbuckers in the bridge position. His timing sucks? What are you talking about?! That`s not even worth answering! Any slightness of notes/issues please excuse him. What he`s playing is not "smoke on the water". Plus he`s playing with no effects so there`s really nothing at all to hide behind. Quit being jealous!

  • Well, that guitar does have single coils.

  • Single coil size maybe, but I cam more than bet they are humbuckers. Like a Seymour Duncan Hot Rails or others. That`s my guess anyway. Who wants to put up with 60 cycle hum? Plus what drives any amp better or sounds fuller? Single coil sounds are mainly reserved for excelling at clean "Strat" sounds.

  • Have you ever heard of stacked humbuckers? They look exactly like single coils but are actually humbuckers and can be split into a single coil. They could be stacked humbuckers, really hot single coils or rail pickups. Whatever they are, they are awesome.

  • p90's

  • WoW this is Tony!?

  • I love the single coil sound and this song...buy damn if his timing/rhythm in this performance suck doesn't.

  • Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, what are you saying? Not sure what you're listening to?

  • ehhhhhhhhhhhh Tony MacAlpine eHhhhhhhhh my favorite guitarist

    gooooddddddd Songggg Thx

  • This song i9 just love it!!! I met Tony when i barely knew who he was. I knew he had his own stuff besides playing with Vai, so i met him after the G3 2003 show in Chicago, nobody paid attention to him, but we went to him and he was very happy about us recognizing him. He was probably happier to meet me than i was to meet him. My friend who made us go to him he got one of his cd's , and thus i met him. I regret a lot not to ask him for an autograph now. I'm a big fan of his solo work and CAB!!

  • Cool outfit...

  • Thanks leandrolobo. Ive heard of mike. I will have to check him out. thanks again.

  • 1:47 to 1:52

    the eyes of mcalpine...

    scary !!!!!

  • LMFAO....!!

O god i thought he was about to go into epileptic shock.

  • Who is on drums?

  • Mike terrana..

for my is the Best drumer !!!

chek Detonator, by terrana. is amazing dude.

    god luck

  • what type of guitar does he typicaly use i cant tel lfrom this vid im am also new to Tony McAlpine

  • In this video he's using a BC Rich

    now hes using Carvin guitars.

  • ahhh thank you very much :)

  • Today he is basically using a Carvin DC 127 and DC 727. The 727 is his 7 string version of the DC 127. They are great guitars and can be had for around 1,300 dollars new.

  • I'm new to Tony MacAlpine, but already love his work In PlanetX. Which solo album from him is worth enough for a buy ?

  • Maximum Security, for sure!

  • Thanks. I will get this album.

  • You're welcome mate. This song is off that record aswell as a lot of other great ones, such as Key to the City, Hundreds of Thousands and Tears of Sahara! Hope you enjoy it.

  • Uh, my favourite is Dreamstate... Of course I enjoy it ^^

  • Awsome!!! very genius

  • Steve Vai and Tony Macalpine

IN MY OPINION, best guitarists on earth

  • and Becker and Kotzen and Vinnie

  • you know to be honest man, guys like Becker, Malmsteen, Friedman and Kotzen are without a doubt amazing guitar players, but ive always been more interested in jazz/fusion shred players. I always personally chose guys like Tony Macalpine, Steve Vai, Al Di Meola and such.

but hey we all got our own taste man =D

  • I hate malmsteen. But kotzen does have some fusion type tracks with Greg Howe. I also like Vai, Al Di Meola, Paco De Lucia, holdsworth, shawn lane...all good players.

  • dude right there, by saying Holdsworth were on the same page man.

him and Paco De Lucia are innovators of what they do man

  • haha yeah man. Holdsworth is a genius with chords & legato and Paco de lucia's finger picking technique is flawless.

  • yeah i have to agree. have you ever heard of stanley jordan hes the best at tapping. and im guessing uv heard of pat metheni. i think hes the fastest not the best but fastest. this is awsome

  • oh dude I love stanley jordans two hand approach to the guitar. honestly everyone gives micheal angelo batio credit for doing that not knowing that Stanley Jordan was doing it a good ten years before him.

we seem to share the same taste in music my friend

  • batio is a clown!!!stanley playes with no distortion dont forget that!batio is high gain noob

  • of course man, thats why I think Stanley Jordan is a god compared to that joke Batio. im just pointing out the fact that MAB recieves so much credit for a technique used way before him, and used in such a articulate and smooth manner. lets see Batio take off all that distortion and gain and see if what he plays sounds as good

  • this tony´s line up kick ass!!!!!!!!! tony mcalpine, kevin chown and mike terrana rules

  • Drummer need more work.. Keep it real cause my girlfriend gets mad if we travel for no reason. DENT/DINO 772-664-7000

  • y mi pico

  • The drummer is the business. Look at what he can do. Tony Macalpine can shred hard too.

  • Tony Macapine is the BIZZZ.And whats more,He's a better Keyboard player if that can be imaginable....

  • No hablo burrito

  • awesome

  • Maximum Security is the best neo classical instrumental album ever recorded. fact.

  • is that neil zazas bass player i think his last name is johns he is great !!

  • This song doesn't measure up to Autumn Lords and Tears of Sahara. Does he have any other great songs in the same vein as the prior two?

  • Empire In The Sky

  • es parecido a los buenos tiempos de vinnie moore

  • Awesome

  • Excellent player! New song 1373 here!

  • Anyone ever heard the studio version of this song with Jeff Watson from Night Ranger?

The solos in that version are absolutely mind blowing.

  • i think tony and vinnie moore are the two best in the world.

  • I personally like Tony's stuff much more then Steve Vai's not to take anything away from anyone They're both brilliant

  • There's no question that Tony's playing is more Soulful....

Now when it comes to Piano skills, Vai does'nt

    stand a chance....

  • Even knowing I liked him with Vai in G3, I think he not that good, besides as andreasbn said his tone is kind of weak....

  • Pretty good - but am I the only who one found his tone pretty weak in general?

  • love his composition man's got depth in what he's doing - trouble with many shredders today is that they are hell-bent on overkill trying to squeeze too many notes per nano-second and neglecting the essence of great enjoyable music

  • Yep damn straight... a good example of what you just said would be Rusty Cooley, his music sounds like shit imo

  • Wrong, What a naive comment.

  • i cant say i agree with you..the real problem with shredders this days is that they dont know how to work with the rhythm, its the difference between Becker and gilbert. and if you a shredder, you need to add something special to make your music different and more interesting then the others...macalpine use allot of chromatics's and his taping is insane. gilbert know how to work with the rhytem and his string skipping is one of the bast, vai...well he is a fucking alien! and so on and so on...

  • while this song is not really a showcase for his rythm skills, tony is very well-known for his powerful ryhthm skills; you may need to hear more of his work to see and hear it.

  • i wasnt tallking about Tmac, actually im a big fan(especially of "planet x" and "cab"). i was tallking in general. the only thing i hate about macalpine its his dirty sound.

  • i wasnt tallking about Tmac, actually im a big fan(especially of "planet x" and "cab"). i was tallking in general. the only thing i hate about macalpine its his dirty sound.

  • che schifo

  • G3 Tours-it's time we collaborate all the roadrunner guitar master artists to perform,,joe satriani & steve vai pls take note!

  • G3 is cool, but i'm getting tired of it, like it's the only way great guitarists can get together and tour...

  • There's already a G3 tour with Tony... Devil Slingshot tour nyahahahahaha!! Sheehan, Donati and Macalpine together that's what i call a fucking good G3

  • they're not going to call it G3!!!

  • they're not going to call it G3!!!

  • I cant understand why Tony appears like a simply keyboard man of Steve Vai in the G3 Tour, for me Tony is one of the best Guitar Heroe of any time, He must have his own G3 Tour with Master Vinnie Moore.

  • There was a time in the late 80s when I could hardly get Tony's beautiful melodies out of my head.

  • i still can't

  • i have every macalpine tape.just shows how long ive been listening to him.he is the best in the world, with mr vinnie moore a close second.eddie van halen couldnt hold tonys pick.

  • you can't disregard eddie van halen, because he and tony macalpine are totally different players. Sure, t-mac appears more technically proficient, but EVH pioneered some fantastic guitar techniques to a somewhat mainstream audience compared with T-Mac. Don't get me wrong, t-mac (and vinnie moore for that matter)are fantastically virtuosic guitarists, and are amongst my favourits, but EVH can't be counted out - he was a genius in his own right.

    Jo

  • I used to have this album, still sounds good to me, unlike most 80´s metal...as with trad classical music these are pretty timeless chops and melodies. He is a great master of the axe, no doubt.

  • Tony Macalpine should have his own spot in G3 if you agree give me thumbs up.

  • I bet Tony is as good or better than Vai, Satch or Petrucci. By the way, I love em' all!!!

  • He was in G3, but only as Steve Vai's keyboard/rhythm guitar player, I know, it's very degrading, but if Tony felt it otherwise, he'd have refused it and done his own thing.

  • Fuck that Tony should start his own tour with Paul Gilbert, Vinnie Moore, and Greg Howe!

  • He should definitely replace Petrucci. Petrucci can play for sure but he is not much of an improviser.

  • I disagree, Petrucci is a fantastic improviser; I saw Dream Theater live and he improvised a massive yet nonetheless incredible guitar solo in Surrounded.

But anyway, Tony Macalpine is awesome - I'd also say he's right up there with the best virtuosos of our time.

    Jo

  • tony is betterr than [etrucci!

  • i love you, T-MAC !

  • HE IS GOD

  • hes not only god...he is the god of all gods!!(well most)

  • 2:23-2:26 is hands down the most insane thing i have EVER heard.

  • Beautifully done and presented. Hard to believe this is not in the studio but a live recording.

  • I love this fukin piece is so well structured, and perfectly executed!!!

  • Great guitarist. He's mustard.

  • I love his tone...

  • bc rich rulezzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • the drummer name????
