  • Though she COULD move the pen by herself, I think it's obvious a second person would make a world of difference (and I'm betting she got some help, based on how it moves at 1:00). Nothing to be ashamed about getting an assist! Kinda sorry she seems almost misleading in that sense.

But still, I really like her enthusiasm, and encouragement to do things yourself and be proactive in farming your own food.

  • nice shot at 1;21

  • hey... i've lot of chickens in facebook farm ville, help me catch all those..

  • I have a lot of grubs in my raised beds and lawn. I would like to use a product to kill the grubs, but also a product that wouldn't hurt my veggies or my free range chickens. Any ideas?

  • hello. can you please make a video on only your chicken enclosure. i had some serious hawk/owl/eagle problems on my farm, so i want to make something just like you have. how many chickens do you have in one pen. do you have a coop they go into at night or in the winter. thank you

  • nice ass at 2:05

  • @runescapenerd64 It would be so hard... to concentrate on gardening with a delicious lady like her around! :D

  • Hopefully someone can help me, I am looking to have a very similar setup and was just wondering what a Fallow Bed is? When do you move the chickens and why? I need to know so that I dont make any mistakes - don't want to harm my chickens

  • A Fallow Bed is a raised bed garden that the garden plants have been harvested out of.

U move the chickens to keep them from OVER fertilizing the raised bed with there droppings.

Chicken manure is VERY high in nitrogen and can kill plants if too much is put into the soil.

U mix the chicken droppings into the soil after u move the chickens.

  • Will the chickens scratch up the seedlings/small plants? Or do you only set them to graze on a bed that is not currently in use?

Long often do you think she has to change, beds, before their poo makes the soil too nitrogen-filled?

  • It is a three week rotation.

  • o. sorry this is three month late, but just try googling fallow bed. i think its a raised bed. but, i do know that you move the chickens so there poop will fall on each of the places you put them, adding nutrients to the soil, and you move them about every month. you just pick up the coop or tractor and shift it next to where it was, or where ever you need to fertilize. good luck

  • Great idea to rotate the chickens from one growing bed to another like that. You should have your own show on HGTV!

  • My chickens ate all my garden goodies last year. This year, free range is all supervised.

  • Hi Patti, I love all your videos and I love your chicken setup! I was wondering, how often do you move the chickens from garden bed to garden bed for the best use of fertilizer?

  • wouldnt it just be easyer to make two cages put one on the area you want to move the chickens to and then move them one by one instead of chase them.

  • GardenGirl a good idea instead of chasing the chickens is to wait till it is almost dark when the chickens are calm and put them in a large thick collapsible shipping box. Move your tractor and put the chickens back in. You can hang the collapsed cardboard box in your shed.

  • chickens do tend to stand still when its dark

  • how many chickens do you have

  • i have 8

  • Hiya just found your videos when looking up info on my new angora rabbit. Don't know if I'll be shearing my pretty boy. You are so lucky to have chickens. My hubby won't let me have any(pouting). We're turning into a lil zoo as it is,lol.

Keep up the good work you're a real inpiration to me already :-)

    Soulless

  • Dayumm!!! Garden gurl look yummy!!

  • I am curious how predator proof that tractor is i.e. raccoons, hawks, and snakes all those wonderful animals that eat chickens and their eggs (my eggs).

  • Very funny. How many chickens do you have at any one time? I know you eat them, but that looks like a bunch!

  • Hahaha that was so funny! Your chickens are sweet. Good to know that there are other people out there chasing chickens.

  • Thanks Patti for posting more chicken videos. The Mad City Chicken is quite pleased.

  • Oh, one more thing, if you have chickens in an enclosure like this, try taking them out and placing them in another cage, move the tractor to the new spot, then take them from the holding cage to replace them in the original tractor... eh?

  • Hi Patti... um, I'm thinking those chickens were wanting some free range :}

  • I was just wondering when is garden girl going to post another video about her chickens? I love any and all of the CHICKEN videos. I learn so much and I love to keep learning. I am going to build the exact same thing for my chickens! thanks GG

  • Eee hee hee!! So cute! That looks like fun. I know how hard it is to catch chickens. I bet they feel all soft.

  • I hope you got all of em! lil things sure do move fast! :)
