This techique is called crabbing, it is used typically by large aircraft to stop sideways drift in a landing configuration. Before the nosewheel is lowered the plane is turned to align with the runway. Smaller aircraft use a technique called known as a slip where the upwind wing is lowered inducing yaw and opposite rudder is used to keep the plane aligned with the runway. Both techniques are routinely used by all pilots and usually go unnoticed by passengers of airliners.
The real reason for these landings is to test the cross wind limits for all of Boeing's aircraft because each one has a different maximum cross wind component on landing. If they exceed this limit they cannot land.
The real reason they are landing here is they are completing Cross Wind landing test for Boeing to see the max cross wind limit for these aircraft which is very high but is a max because they will abort if its too high.
These guys are insane! How crooked does one's appraoch need to be before aborting? And for that matter, how much Valium do the pilots have to take afterwards to relax after going through with that? Imagine what flying would be like these days if it wasn't for test pilots like these who put their massivlely huge balls on the line to help train the pilots that we put our faith in to get us home safely.
We have to deliver more and better than others, we must make the most of us, we transport lives back and everything depends on our knowledge, our hands and our value, it seems easy but it is not, as notice that a landing has been hard for example, think positive, to be soft had to be tough for a rookie, or the best commanders did not start from 0? Thank you for respecting us, We're flattered that people say things about the drivers like that:) Thanks, really
mattridesrm are you fucking stupid or 10? plains fly based of air prupultion. air hitting the tale will fuck up the direction of the plain go back to fucking grade 6
This is footage from test flights. None of the aircraft are outfitted in any airline livery. In other words none of the planes are decorated in airline colours such as American or United or KLM, etc.
All these seem to be test flights. I don't see any airport like features in most of the landings...most actually look like tests in some desert airstrip...

I wonder how often pilots have to land in these conditions. Looks like it takes incredible skill and nerves of steel.

Its landings like these when pilots really earn their wages.
