  • ecw HAD GOOD WRESTLERS

  • CORNETTE SAID THE DUMBEST SHIT IN THE INTERVIEW....HE SAID SCOTT HALL LEFT FOR A BIG CONTRACT IN WCW BUT BEFORE HE SAID THAT HE SAID THE WWF MADE HIM A HOUSE HOLD MAN AND A BIG STAR BUT THAN HE SAID HE COULD PUT 3 ASSES IN A SEAT TOO WATCH HIS MATCH...NOW IF U CAN'T DO THAT IN THE PLACE THAT SUPPOSEDLY MADE U A BIG STAR (RAZOR RAMON) WHY WOULDN'T YOU LEAVE? SMH IDK WHY HE EVEN SAID THAT

  • Soooo Rob Van Dam/Jerry Lynn wasn't wrestling . . . ?

  • The irony is that this promo actually helped the nWo/Bischoff gimmick because what Cornette said about them suited their storyline perfectly. Watching that just made me wish Cornette was in WCW at the time in the role that JJ Dillon had. Perhaps more people would have actually cheered for WCW instead of the nWo.

  • Cornette is a fucking legend. TNA made a huge mistake letting him go.

  • 6 moves....

John Cena is the new Nash!

  • he got xpacs ass on this one

  • almost as good as "grinds my gears" by peter griffin

  • fuck the attitude era (1998) NWO kick ya'll asses!

  • @diplo33 Butthurt because your oh so precious company got bought out?

  • @StephenRWWE ain't my company! ted turner's shit...bischoff should have stayed running that place and not vince russo weird ass!

  • and cornette can eat a dick cuz WCW was kicking there ass in ratings!

  • i love arn anderson, flair, and the horseman! task master....damn thats real shit! real talent

  • this shit will incite a motherfucker...im mad as hell at 1998 wrestling now! FUCK 1998!!!!...ASSHOLES

  • this man should really consider going on reality tv shows.....

  • "Can I get an Amen" -Lawler-

Hell yeah, you can get an Amen, Jerry.

  • I agree with him about the state of wrestling in 1998. When people say the Attitude Era was the best do they not remember all the horrible shit the WWF had going on in between the Austin/Rock/Mankind stuff?

  • but how do you REALLY feel, Corny?

  • Jim Cornette is always great. xD

  • dude if i was bischoff id be hangin with the nwo n spending ted turners money too shittttt

  • i use to hate Jim as a manager when i was a kid, when he managed owen, vader and yoko, lol he did his job well... now i appreciate him.

  • Yeah Jim Ross has to agree. They both worked together during the 80's @ Mid-South. The battle of the Express teams? Jake in the orange? Both of them know what "wrestling" was and should be. Long Live Kayefabe!!!

  • I'm not sure how his praise for Mick Foley can be reconciled with his professed distaste for hardcore wrestling going mainstream.

  • @CaribDevist I think it might be because Mick Foley worked for Jim Cornette in Smokey Mountain Wrestling as Cactus Jack during the early 90s when he was starting to make a name for himself and that he respects Mick for his ability to work an audience and his attitude outside of the ring.

  • thats how i feel about wwe today

  • Jim Cornette vs flying donkeys, Summerslam 2012.

  • @MrSherlockHolmez2 are you sure about that? Every wrestling fan I knew at the time enjoyed it.

  • Bah Humbug!!! XD

  • LOL at Jerry Lawler marking out at the end!

  • If I ever own a wresting promotion, Jim Cornette is on top of my hire list.

  • LMAO at 5:32--5:38, funniest but most honest part

  • Smartest thing he said: Tennessee > Connecticut

  • I remember this. when he said he's bringing back tradition, he brought the NWA on Raw with The New Midnight Express, Jeff Jarrett as the NWA champion and I think Dan Severn too

  • Though Cornette's comments were actually very legit during that time, the only thing I thought upon hearing this(also clicking back and fourth between Nitro and RAW) was the WWF's vast frustration and attempts at damage control over the ratings gap. For the wrestling history uninformed, there was a time when there were two Monday Night wrestling shows, there was no such thing as Cena, and a company called wCw was destroying the WWF on a weekly basis for almost two years.

  • @PhantomGhost25 Exactly. Nothing but the truth right there

  • I wish he could've did that same exact shoot in 2011 and in 2012... Everything he pointed out in his rants is EXACTLY what the wrestling business has deteriorated into today. Smh...

  • @Mr707BAYAREA you're an idiot

  • Cornettes tha BOSS!.

  • well the roles have reversed people who like wrestling are on the internet now. lol man people on the internet during that time must have been trolls. thumbs up if you agree.

  • Interesting its been 13 years and WWE still dosen't understand sad that the internet figured it out before bitch-off and Vince did

  • Its interesting what he said about Nash..To me Nash is a smart business man.

  • fuck this company

  • And now, true to his word, he's in ROH, helping to bring us WRESTLING!

    Long live Jim Cornette.

  • Jim Cornette For President

  • James E. Cornette needs to Shoot on John Cena and Rip him a new fucking Asshole! Shoot on Triple big nose H again.

  • @StanKingston420 he actually likes cena for "his work ethic" which he saw in OVW. but i would say that he might knock cena's gimmick which is horrendous and wish he'd wrestle a bit more like jim knows he can.

  • so ric flair isn't trying to act like a young man?

  • @77danigga This video is over 10 years old... back then he definately wasn't doing as much blow and trying to be a teenager again.

  • @marktisgod I wonder what Cornette thinks of wrestling today?

  • ECW legends are second to none. Terry Funk, Cactus Jack, Tommy Dreamer, Sabu, Shane Douglas, New Jack, Rob Van Dam, Sandman, Taz, Dudley Boyz, Raven, Mikey Whipreck, Jerry Lynn, Rhino. Fuck Jim Cornett, ECW was the shit.

  • @taz198666 all fucking smackheads

  • He called Bischoff a mark! Ouch! For those who have been in the business for any stretch as I was, even a short time, you all know how big an insult that is! For those who are not schooled on the language, a "mark" is technically a fan, and that's not a bad thing to be called, but it has its negative meanings too. One is a fan that thinks he knows the business and knows nothing, and the other is a one in the business who is still a fanboy and needs to grow up and be a pro about this!

  • haha.. Nice upload. I'm a gen x-er and remember Cornette from WCW and Memphis wrestling.

  • Cornette's crying is so stupid, complaining about the fact that guys are over and popular and he doesn't like it. You know who had a vision like Cornette has: Verne Gagne - and all that happened to him was he had the biggest draw in the business and a chance to build his promotion around him, but because he wasn't a great "wrestler" he didn't. People who are stuck in the past never see the future - and that is the problem Cornette has. The Business passed him by.

  • who was shawn michaels facing?

  • @EldestSauce HHH, it was a finger poke of doom style match, but Hunter and Shawn were really funny at doing it, bad wrestling match but it was really entertaining. It was for the European Title

  • this guy is mad.....LOL

  • CORNETTE SMASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Jim Cornette=Legend

  • I've yet to see me first flying donkey in WWE :/

  • @WrestlingBC12 Don't give Vince McMahon any ideas. If he can bring out the Gobbledygooker for Survivor Series, he would bring out a flying donkey.

  • Boy did he dish the truth about that no talent Kevin Nash or what? Jim Cornette = on the $

  • Cactus Jack is a true wrestling legend.

  • @eatmedrinkme420 Bret Hart is the true wrestling legend, not Cactus. All he could do was throw chairs around and fight in brawl matches. Bret had actual WRESTLING ability, what it's supposed to be about

  • The second one sounds a lot like an angle - he's never to my knowledge been a big anti-Northern guy, at least not sounding as silly as he did bringing it up.

  • lol i cant believe he does this rant without cursing

  • @MrJlow713 A true testiment to fantastic mic skills

  • Great pair of rants by Jim Cornette about the state of pro wrestling at that time. I wish they cut off the remaining seconds so we don't have to listen to that idiot Jerry Lawler squawking like an obnoxious parrot for its crackers.

  • Hey im a Jim Cornette Guy

  • flying donkeys lol

  • Why!? more on that later.

  • I could listen to this man for hours at a time.

  • all that shit about CT is true lol. i go there from RI a lot.

  • Wow, Jim Cornette has been angry for a long-ass time. I'm glad that he's now the executive producer for Ring of Honor, though. He can push wrestlers who deserve to be pushed like Davey Richards.

  • It's good to know that even during the era itself there were guys who didn't buy into all that Attitude crap that was going on at the time. His last promo essentially sums up how I feel about the so-called "Golden age of wrestling" in the late 90s.

  • John Cena and Hornswoggle disliked the video

  • Jim Cornette 13 Years Ago-Now we have CM Punk!

  • like this if you just watched the timeline in WWF 1997 and came here lol

  • @ARB082 Ha!

  • At 4:57 He's talking about Vince Russo

  • Brutal and hilarious

  • This ain't widescreen, this is just stretched fullscreen...it's like TCM and AMC. No competition!

  • Cornette surely must be out of his mind when he said that Tennessee is better than Connecticut....

  • @wmn09001 From a wresting standpoint, Tennessee was way ahead of Connecticut, but the TN indies didnt have the money or marketing skills, which is why they went under.

  • @wmn09001 it is

  • But I wanna see flying donkeys! Wrestling in 1998 sucked? I guess since this is before the Royal Rumble and the rise of Stone Cold he could say that, still the Attitude era had already begun so BLASPHEMY!!

  • I like that he says Hall is the best wrestler of all the nWo guys. His second rant is spectacularly accurate. As Daniel Tosh said, Arn Anderson would be the most well known wrestler if everybody cared about technical ability.

  • Jim Cornette: "I don't care what you wrestling fans are thinking and I don't care that you watch DX and that I can get my salary because it succeed, I want the shows to have what I want to see and that I will be the only fan left, because I am a crazy, slapping, murder-threating jerk who don't seems to get that it's not the 70s! I'm Jim Cornette, and that's my egomaniacal opinion!".

  • 6:15

Should have been followed by the Angry Video Game Nerd saying:

    "Merry Christmas, happy Hanukkah, happy..Everybody!

Happy Holidays and if you have a problem with Happy Holidays then Happy shut the fuck up."

  • There is one thing I disagree with, and that is him ragging on WCW for having Eric Bischoff's name in the credits. WCW never denied he was still VP of WCW. They booked it where he was financing the NWO with Ted DiBiase while using his position in WCW to keep them in the mix for titles and big money.

  • The first promo is more or less Vince giving Nash, Hall, Waltman and Bischoff (WCW) the finger, through the medium of Jim Cornette.

    In my opinion.

  • What caused this? Was it just a random rant or was there a reason behind it?

  • @Porterjoh Jim was a manager and commentator who also did work in WWF Creative. At one point, as part of an NWA Invasion he led, he cut some worked shoots that slammed the aspects of pro wrestling that he hated. Amusingly, fans cheered these promos (even though Jim was heel), and Russo didn't understand why (cause he doesn't understand wrestling). Eventually he got tired of butting heads with Creative, and after doing a few more on-screen things, he left and became lead booker/part owner of OVW.

  • wrestling is dead and he predicted it here.

  • greatest fucking rant of all time! lol

  • "He's got 6 moves, no mobility" Is he talking about Nash or Cena?

  • @OofmanRulz Nash, this was from 1997.

  • @2011mrkingofkings Yeah, I got that. But only having 6 moves sounds like a certain current WWE champ.

  • @OofmanRulz Nash because Cena only has 5 moves

  • @OofmanRulz Cena has 7 and that's if you count the shoulder block twice

  • @OofmanRulz Well at least cena doesn't tear a quad when he's runs lol

  • Great era of wrestling. The whole cross promotional slagging off between WWE/WCW/ECW was awesome when all three promotions were on fire and wrestling was doing great buisness.

  • @Shadowssj6 In terms of popularity and exposure, absolutely. They definitely have a more stable business model and responsible management though.

  • over a decade later and it is still that way. the only difference is that now its WWE/TNA/ROH instead of WWF/WCW/ECW.

  • @FullMetalEva69 You can't really compare ECW and ROH. For one thing, ROH wrestlers are actually getting paid.

  • @theDyingWhale I lol'd heartily.

  • I know it stripped but damn jim is right to this day I want a wrestle match that will sell to me everybody knows it fake but aleast sell the matches like they were, doing in the 80s and 90s I love wrestle but how can you sell a match with these fucked up gimmics if two to four men or women had okay matches no matter who win or lost I respect those people who put work in not just showing up.(HA)

  • well to be honest with out marketing where would the wrestlers get their money to perform every night?yea i would like to see wrestling more than talking and storyline but this is a new age and money is just about everything.Cornette says a lot of true things but yet he has to realize that times change and that putting your body on the line every week cost a lot and there's a wider fan base than back in his day

  • so what was the point of Mr. Mcmahon letting jim Cornette do his rants?

  • @ramiabdo2 so the crowds would not cheer dx

  • As far as guys like nwo or Hogan or whatever. Hey if they bring in the ratings and sell the tickets good for them. There are a lot of guys the big companies tried to shove down peoples throats and never got over so to say they are only main eventers cause the boss likes them is not true. 2nd WWE won't even let the commentators or people associated with WWE use the world wrestler or wrestling. They are ashamed of being in there own business. No wonder UFC is destroying them.

  • Despite Hulk Hogan getting paid a lot by WCW he was right when he said "It was the largest ATM you ever saw"

  • This was a work shoot for Cornette to bring the NWA back to the spotlight in their failed 1998 invasion of the WWF......

  • 0:36

Cornette saying SWEEEET might be the best thing ever. Phone, meet text notification tone.

  • Respect the hell out of Cornette, but 1998 was when wrestling started to get it's highest ratings ever. So what he didn't want to see, everyone else did. Sorry, but money talks. The rant on CT vs TN was ridiculous too. Then move back. Oh yeah. Get a shovel and man up.

  • Vince was doing alot of "Cross-Promotion" with other companies at this time. One example is when he had ECW come out on RAW. I think this led up to Cornette bringing in the NWA guys. I don't know the full story on it, but Ted Turner bought the original NWA, turned it into WCW, and at this time was beating Vince in the ratings. But someone at this time had restarted the NWA, (probably stood for something else) and was pushing it as the original company.

  • @JamminBassist If I remember right, after this promo, Cornette started bringing NWA wrestlers onto RAW. One of them was Dan "The Beast" Severn from UFC. They tried to do a program of Severn vs. Shamrock, but that fell apart. If you watch the build up to Austin winning his 1st World Title, right before that Royal Rumble, he came out and stunned everyone who would be in the Rumble. One of them was Jeff Jarret. If you look close, JJ is wearing a title when stunned. That title was the new NWA belt.

  • THe birth of "Attitude era" was stupid and a slap to the face of PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING.

  • @tonshaad1230 It's pretty much ripping off the attitude of ECW, which, God forbid, had ACTUAL wrestling. Sure, maybe it had a good number of matches with brutality, blood, guts and gore, but they also had talent from other countries (Mysterio, Tajiri for example) which showed ECW that they knew people wanted wrestling, not a soap opera.

  • Cornette Completely shot down the product of WWF. And the things he was saying was true.... Attitude era had no wrestling just... stupid storylines with no wrestling.

  • WOW CORNETTE PREDICTED WRESTLEINGS DOWNTURN BECAUSE OF THE BREAKING OF KAYFABE AND WRESTLEINGS COMPLACENCY IN IT'S SUCESS ABOUT 5 YEARS IN ADVANCE

  • This promo > Cena's career

  • More on that later!!!! xD

  • ilike corrnet for the most part but seriously, Ric failr ? he was NEVER good EVER

  • @codyjobe you're an idiot...

  • i wouldn't mind seeing flying donkeys, just sayin'

  • This applies so much to TNA now.

  • AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Traffic jams at 4am? Does Mama Cornette know that you're out so late?

  • the beginning of Jim cornette becoming becoming official the voice of the wrestling Business

  • Let it be known Jim Cornette aint never lied it's 2011 & it's mad rare if I watch a wrestling show & actually see any wrestling the first thing that comes to my mind was the series of matches between Beer $ vs. Motor City Machine Guns & that while ago.

  • @kingp05 and in tna a lot of good matches look like shit because the endings are booked so shitty

  • THANK YOU Jim Cornette for calling out the Attitude Era for being what it really was: a slap in the face of professional wrestling.

  • The sad /funny part is this applies to todays wrestling more than anything . WWE is not wrestling its A Sitcom , they do everything to shy away from the fact thatthey are a wrestling compnay. Now atleast in the attitude era there was some exciting stuff going on now violence edgyness etc.but now , its a kids show with no wrestling at all. they throw the title around like its nothing . id rather see Daniel bryan vs. cm punk in he main event at wrestlemania than Miz , come on this is a joke.

  • @R9T1 To be fair, the Attitude Era wasn't any better; even in McMahon's introductory address to the Attitude Era, he emphasized the "Entertainment" part of it. People like to say things like "I miss the Attitude Era, when the WWF was still about professional wrestling." If you really look at it, WWE hasn't been about pro wrestling since Bob Backlund lost the belt. Hulkamania was what marked the end of WWF the wrestling promotion, and the birth of WWF the Sports Entertainment company.

  • @Sanguiluna You present a valid point here ,the allure of the attitude era was entertainment rather than the wrestling aspect much like it is today, the only difference being the target age .Attitude era to me was better as it pushed the envelope .Ive been watching wrestling since about 97 when the Monday night wars were around but recently have acquired a taste for the in ring action rather than the"sports entertainment" factor . I appreciate wrestling skills way more than i did previously

  • Arn and Flair had their time. During 97 and 98 was the time of Hall and Nash. Just like now it's the time of Cena and possibly Orton. That's just how it is.

  • how was he suppose to get over as a heel when all he spoke was the truth, listen to that crowd at the end!

  • What's hilarious is in Vince's mind he probably thought this was going to come across as a heel promo by Cornette (much like he thought Joey Styles' shoot promo in 2006 would be a heel promo) yet the crowd gave the man a standing ovation. Thirteen years later and Vince STILL hasn't figured out what the problem is. Genius my ass...

  • dixie carter needs to watch this

  • @jimpsyd she does, but she rather listens to Hogan and Bischoff

  • God bless Jim Cornette.

  • most truthful promo ive seen

  • I remember when they did this, the plan was to got Cornette over as a heel whos stuck in the 80's and when he did these promos the fans popped like fuck, because what he was saying was true!!

  • Man, Jim Cornette is now my favorite non-wrestling personality to ever come out of any company. But he never should've slapped Santino.

  • LOL on nash. I remember hearing a few years back when Cornette was talking about nash's 6 moves and Said that tunning his hands through his hair was one of them hehehehehehe I like nash, I think he's a funny guy and great personalit. but he was never a great Wrestler

  • I love Jim Cornette, but I also love the irony at 4:50, basically talking down to people on the Internet, since that's the people he's catering to these days.

But, for the sake of this, I'm Jim Cornette, and this is my face.

  • Jim keeps it real 24/7

  • "Game show host wannabe"

Well, Bischoff did look like John Davidson back in the day.

  • The state of wrestling in 1998 stunk? Where is Wrestling? You mean 2011? :/

  • Fuck this company

  • @slayerking88 which one? lol WWF/WWE, WCW, ECW, TNA, OVW, PPW AWA????

  • Im Jim Cornette and this is my face

  • Well he was wrong about one thing. The future state of wrestling in 1998 was probably the best in WWF/E's history.

  • I wonder who he could possibly be refering to when he talks about obnoxious yankees from new york spending all their time looking for ideas from the internet at WWF headquarters?

  • @gazz12345a I think hes refering to Vince Russo

  • Is JC talking about Kevi Dunn in the 2nd promo? I think so

  • Love some Jimmy Cornette!

  • Marty Jannety should be champ! lol

  • Wow, if he shooted like that on 1997/1998 .. imagine Jim Cornette in 2010

  • @7LucasCabrera71 look up cornette's commentary on who slamming who.

  • man after hearin this i wonder how cornette survived in tna wit kevin nash

  • did vince fire him after this rant?

  • @thedude19766

No, he didn't fire Cornette until JC slapped Santino Marella a dozen times or so.

  • @newfrickinshow 16 times

  • @amarieoflothlorien wasn't sure of the exact number hence the 'or so' addition to my post.

  • @newfrickinshow I watched the clip where Jim tells how he slapped santino, still funny as hell, when he told he shit himself while shouting at Santino i thought I would choke on my coffee. LOL!!!

  • @thedude19766: nope years later in July 2005 because of slapping santino marella for breaking character and laughing at wrestler The Boogeyman.
