  • Der sinfonische Charakter kommt hier sehr schön

  • Hörte es in der Schönberg-Orchestrierung gestern im Radio...wundervoll

  • Oh my gosh woodwinds! Fantastic.

  • Neeme Jarvi ( father of Paavo) also conducted and recording this with London so.

It is very powerful and exciting.

  • beautiful music well played...thanks!

  • ich bin einer schoenberger!!!

  • 3:49 -- such a sweet moment.

  • Schoenberg certainly knew the orchestra, but some of this orchestration is in poor taste. Snare Drum, Xylophone, Bass Drum are so alien to Brahms. Not one of his great finales to begin with, the Schoenberg orchestration makes it sound cheaper than it is.

  • @muslit perhaps Schoenberg intended to pour scorn over Brahms... only after he has paid hommage to him at the first place...

  • OMG! luv luv luv! :D

  • Paavo Jarvi bears a striking resemblance to Vlad Putin...

  • Love it

  • Great orchestration and great performance!

  • Bravo Jarvi. We all love u :***

  • Funny, the "watch in high quality" option does absolutely nothing ...

  • that was really good. I want to play this at Interlocheon if I end up going. That is IF i end up going.

  • merci pour cette oeuvre magistrale

    c'est le "rondo alla zingarella"

    thanks

  • that lady is bad ass on that flute

  • I remember there was a video of the Berlin Philharmonic playing this; it gotten taken off, as it was on my favorites list. The flautist, I must say, was very good.

The whole orchestra was good, better than this one by a tiny bit.

  • Yes, that Berlin Phil performance is good and it is a better orchestra. However, I do prefer Jarvi's interpretation here far better than Rattle's. Somehow, Rattle misses a lot of important details in that performance and Rattle's tempi don't always work.

  • these guys, i find they have much more punchiness.

  • I havent seen the BPO performance, but of all the movements from Jaarvi I find this the best. Tempi are still a bit unstable, and Im not sure what happens with the solo at 6:02-04. He slows down and the entrance is not so clear. Otherwise, I agree with the comment about the flute. Not only a great player, but eye candy too..
