YEAH u right ..i can carry only 6 people and gear ...only 15 gallons of gas,and i can travel 50 milles to emty at 40 knots ,if i go at 20 i do 80 milles

@theneptune2011 This isn't my boat but I've been on it a few times. It can carry 80 people and all their gear. I think a 17ft boat would sink with 80 people in it :-)

Based on personal experience and some guesses, I would say the following:

Boat 35-40 Feet

1200 to 1500 horses

assuming some effiency losses top speed in 60 to 75 mph range with economical cruise at 2900 to 3500 rpm and 30 to not more than 40 knot econical cruise. and 2 to 4 gals per knotical mile. (Yes, those Turboed outboards are much more economical than large stern drives and much lighter as well.)

Best power to weight is small gas turbine.

@jetraymond There's no bow thruster and they do use the motors to turn at quite a surprisingly tight turning circle. On full turn the props get very close, not close enough to touch but I'm sure there must be some serious cavitation going on.

@Moe7133 This isn't my boat but I've been on it twice. I'd 'guesstimate' that at cruising it does about 30 knots. At full speed I doubt it would do much more than 40 knots as these motors are pushing (technically pulling) about 60 foot of boat with about 80 people on board. Plus as others have said there must be some cavitation going on at the upper end of the throttle range. But this is Indonesian ingenuity at it's best and it does get the job done!

Law of diminishing returns... the extra thrust/speed above 3 engines is just a waste of space. Even 4 engines would be pushing it for a tiny little bit of benifit. Now the 5th engine is doing nothing but adding extra weight and drag compared to it's output. There comes a point where strapping on engines just makes you look silly...
