  • haha #WOW

  • @Toontown821 Windows.Old is the directory where all your previous programs, data, general documents and downloads go to whenever you install Windows 7 (NON clean install). Deleting the directory essentially brings the Windows 7 you've installed to a Clean Install. Sorta.

  • Yeah windows 7 is cool lol I like have no xp computers at all :D xp's old man haha ;)

  • Windows 7 is available to download on:

    downloadblinks . C () M

  • I installed windows 7 yesterday using clean install, i had vista but i wanted to make a complete restart. when i chose clean it said that i had an installed operating system and that it was going to be moved to a folder called windows.old

when the install was succesfull all my programs was gone but when i open the hardrive C, everything in my download folder etc is still there.

    1. did i do a clean install or did i accidently press upgrade?

    2. can i simply delete the folder called windows.old?

  • @Replic1ty It appears to me that you may have accidentally upgraded. When you do a clean install it normally formats your entire computer and leaves you with a brand new Windows 7. The Windows.Old can be removed, but I would personally just go through it and see if you have all the files you require first. =]

  • xp so good 7 has an xp mode

  • Hey scott its gar ronan, i need to make a video with a recording from mic for my youtube, what software do you use? mail me if you cant say it on this

  • @GarRo247 Camtasia Studio 7 by TechSmith =]

  • windows 7 rocks ;)

  • aahah daayem or however you say it :P LMFAO! (:

  • Great Review!

  • Hello My Motherboard is about 7 years old, Do you think that i have to replace it with a new one, to get the windows 7 installed? Please list the thing that i have to get inorder to get windows 7. Thank you

  • @69ws89 7 years? More than likely.

  • @69ws89 eeeh do you realy have a mobo 7 years after u bought it?

Even my little brother (6 years) have newer

  • @djb1a2k3 No, My motherboard right now is a year old. I bought it a month before I made this video. I was saying that Windows 7 actually works on an older motherboard we had.

  • are you irish?

  • @chrisssslove I am Irish, yes =]

  • your Canadian i bet

  • @TheNOOBPWN Irish.

  • The eMachine ET1831-07 is $380 for a 2.7 GHz processor, runs windows seven 64- bit, 4gd DDR2 RAM, DVD Drive, 6 USB 2.0 Ports, 6 Speaker jacks (Yu could use this as a hame theatre system with surround sound, not kidding), microphone jack, and headphone jack, and a 750 GB HD. This is all for only around 380$ and it will run WOW

  • Cool, my uncle has it and im using it the now, amazing stuff :D.

  • windows 7 was my idea

  • @Egroegness err.. Congratulations? =]

  • @xXSythenXx lol tons of commercials that are funny as hell like that :P

  • @Egroegness lol yeah they annoy me so much. It's like "Windows 7 was my idea!" it's like.. no.. it's not. It was the idea of a multi-million dollar company called Microsoft who created it using teams of up to 500 people per city xD

  • @xXSythenXx lol i know

  • Yeah i dont know anything about computers, I just want one to run WOW. Like under 800$. Where can I find a good one? Looking to buy in a month or so.

  • @yeah3652 xD man, pretty much any machine that is Windows 7 capable will run World of Warcraft no problem.

  • Vista , xp, windows 7 its everything is same for me :S

  • @a4tech357 noone cares you stupid fuck, go buy a mac than

  • @ThaDK00 how to you know that ? if you dont care just keep ur mouth shut...btw i have mac and its same like windows (for me)

  • There are ways of getting it for free, but I suggest you ask him privately. I'm not being held responsible for any piracy. - Sythen

  • Yes! I used to have Vista... and it SUCKED!!! So now I have Windows 7 which works very well and smoothly. I truly appreciate Windows 7!!!

  • dude i have a question i have a windows xp game the game is flight simulator x 2009 and i have a question will it work on windows 7 very fast or will it be slow like windows xp so plzz tell me because im thinking of getting a windows 7 pc

  • @TheOreoDude123 If the game works on your Windows XP Machine it will definitely work on a Windows 7 machine.

  • Hey man, Was watching this and just assumed you were going to be american or maybe british. Then I heard your accent and thought sounds like a fellow Irish man. Looked at your profile and indeed your from celbridge. Good Man. I'll have a look around @ your vids.

  • Just got it and its pure awesomness!!!!

  • I have it it's pretty friggen sweeeet :D

    - Laura . X

  • What are some of the differences between Ultimate and Home Premium

  • Why cant they just be like apple and have 1 Version, having 3 is just a pain. I have to give windows props, 7 is much better. But I will stick with my Leopard.

  • How much better is Ultimate than Home premium, and what more does it have?

  • Watch Nickx1431's video's. I have Windows 7 that i got from his video. It worked!

  • How did you get the space below all of your start menu items... mine has help and then shutdown

  • windows 7 home premium, thats what i use..its legal looks fine but theres one problem..i have no sound. i checked everything and i tried everything and i have no idea why it isnt working..u think they will make and update that will fix it?

  • i have the same os as you, no problem with sound. Google it, post on some forums... you'll get an answer.

  • its all ok now..took like 5days to figure out..my uncle came at my house and fixed it..i downloaded the wrong drivers and thats why it didnt work

  • make sure you have the correct sound output selected as your default. I had a similar problem where my motherboard sound output was selected rather than my asus soundcard.

  • what program did you use to record your desktop?

  • @316619j i think its camtasia.

  • Camtasia Studio 6. Latest version with HD Support ^^

  • just bought windows 7 ultimate 32-bit from my college $7.26 lol our school has licenses to sell this for dirt cheap!!!

  • its a good idea to wait a half year buying it theres too many fails they gotta fix it first

  • Yeah, that is a great idea. But this version of windows actually doesn't have a lot of problems. I tried forcing a blue-screen and it still didn't do it. xD

  • recent items

  • i like windows media center

  • Great review. I've been using 7 since Beta and I still learned stuff :P

  • the review is really slow moving

  • Just buy a Mac...

  • yeah just buy a mac , so u can buy a whole nother computer next year, Anil u suck, lol

    PC where its at

  • watta man ,, irish and kick ass as my self

  • LMFAO, scott, your brilliant in many ways but i never thought id see someone complimenting your accent xD

  • How do you get the task bar to look like the macs?

  • @bruha1357 buy windows 7

or for a fake version, try a little program called viglance :)

  • i have a genuine 64-bit windows 7 and i still dont know how to do that

  • OH you mean like, identical to the dock on os x

well isn't the windows 7 bar good enough? i use a mac and i think it's awesome.

  • It comes like that default.

and it's way more useful than the Dock.

  • @Gwainafair I'm using the standard Windows 7 theme, I was making these videos with a fresh install of Windows 7 and wanted to show it without changes.

    ;)

  • No WinXP Mode for Starter, either Home edtion, Pro, Home

  • How did you get Windows 7 before the release date?

  • @Phineasflynn1416 He's either a MSDN subscriber or he got it from a torrent, the RTM has been available since july just not released till october

  • I'm neither. This is a full retail copy of Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit edition. I was given it at a Microsoft event that was prior to the actual release date.

  • Fair enough but there is a bigger chance of them being MSDN or torrent

  • yep, I know ^^

Just wanted to clear the air and let people know where I got mine. xD

  • @Phineasflynn1416 torrent sites

  • @xSTR8xUPx No, I did not torrent or I am not a member of MSDN.

I simply had attended a release event of Windows 7 at a college in Dublin, Ireland. As a result of helping out and organizing small parts of the event a Microsoft Representative had given me Windows 7 Ultimate 32-Bit and 64-Bit.

  • there is a beta version

  • Beta version is no longer available to users, unless you were running it prior to the release.

  • nice ur using camtasia.. i use it too.. XD.. cool video... im getting windows 7 now...

  • Thanks so much for your video.... I use vista and really like it since service pack 2 however I enjoy video editing and find it quite slow and juttery for this... So, seriously considering 7. Very helpful, thank you.

  • TNX SCOTT.I have just one more question for you...Here it is: Is it better for gaming This PC: Intel Core2Duo E7500 2.93GHz GeForce 9800 GT 1GB DDR3 450W LGA775 iP45 ASUS P5Q SE2 PCIe/DDR2/SATA2/GLAN/7.1 DDR2 2x2GB 1066MHz Patriot Viper OR THIS ONE: AMD Phenom II X3 710 Three-Core procesor,4GB Patriot Viper CL4,500GB HDD,ATI Radeon 4850 HD 512MB/256b,Sound HD 7.1 ATX Mid Tower Thermaltake +600W Oh and please know that in the first one ghaphic card is 1GB and in the second its 512MB..

  • I am planing to buy computer: Intel Core2Duo E7500 2.93GHz GeForce 9800 GT 1GB DDR3 450W LGA775 iP45 ASUS P5Q SE2 PCIe/DDR2/SATA2/GLAN/7.1 DDR2 2x2GB 1066MHz Patriot Viper.........and i am planing to install windows 7 home premium on it and pls tell my is it better for playing new and old games windows 7(home premium) or WINDIOWS XP......(i mean is it faster and eveyting)...

  • Personally all of your specs above are really fast, and amazing. I'd buy that PC. =]

Windows XP from my own evidence, is actually slightly slower than Windows 7. I'd go for Windows 7 ;)

    Hope I helped - Scott.

  • In regards to new and old games, I believe it plays both equally well ;)

  • What are the specs of the computer that you are using to review Windows 7?

  • Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit Edition

AMD Turion X2 Dual Core 2.00GHz.

    3GB Ram.

    Nvidia Geforce 8200M 256mb

    SATA 140GB drive.

    Lightscribe DVD/RW Drive.

    Pretty standard =]

  • Hey I know NOTHING about computers. Im getting a Compaq Desktop Cq3120an:

AMD Athlon II X2 Dual-Core Processor 215 (2.7GHz with HyperTransport Technology). 4000MHz HT3. 2048MB DDR2. 320.0 GB * Serial ATA hard drive at 7200RPM *Gigabyte(GB) is defined as 1 billion bytes. SuperMulti SATA Drive with Lightscribe Technology, Double Layer (8.5GB). Integrated 10/100 BaseT network interface (Broadband Ready). nVidia GeForce 6150SE 3D Graphics. Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium

    Is it any good?

  • yep, it all looks pretty good to me. Its a good computer!!

  • thanks alot! just needed an opinion

    thanks :)

  • That is a very very good computer :-)

  • I should let ya know that KuramaZeyurai is my brother's account I was accidentally signed in xD

  • I love that background!

  • dude i been wanting to get windows 7 but every one i talked to said not to n its just vista with a few add on but now dat i seen your review i totally gonna get it thanks bro its nice to have a review like this so i can see for my self then to just rely on word of mouth- Brew

  • Well yeah! Windows 7 is actually Windows Vista... BUT It's Windows Vista with all of its problems gone AND new features. xD

I totally recommend it, it's possibly the best OS I've used from Microsoft, even better than XP :)

    Thanks for the compliments Brew.

    Hope I helped! - Scott.

  • I dont like the new bar along the bottom, but anythings better then Vista :) But I really anna make sure it can handle alot of things happening at once. I usually will have up 2 documents, 3 internet pages with many tabs on them, and a video making program. My mac has no problem manageing all that, but my PC has major problems handling it, is it vista or am I just asking to much?

    BTW, your accent is awesome.

  • Hey there ZOmen,

The bar down the bottom is 10 pixels higher because Windows 7 was made to work well with touch screens too. However! You can change the bar back to normal, and have the vista groups instead of the entire new system too. (And the bar has a Windows 7 theme to it too ;)

And that problem is definitely Windows Vista. On 7 I've got 15 documents, 23 internet pages, two games, and an entire game development SDK (UnrealEd) open and just a tinnnny bit of lag.

    Get 7! =D

    And thanks!

  • Ooooo.... I want.....

Yup, getting a new computer now. Thanks for the help!

    *Starts dancing*

I'M GETTING RID OF VIIIIIIIISTA! I'M GETTING RID OF VIIIIIISTA! MY OLD COMPUTER'S GONNA CRY...:( BUT I'M GETTING RID OF VIIIIIIIISTA!

  • lol nice man =]

  • windows vista has the same thing about the windows button+1 and have the "auto re-order" thing too...

  • no its not slow the progam he is using makes lag

  • Actually it doesn't lag at all. Granted the video recording did slow it slight,y but the video is at a standard 24fps.. Shouldn't be that slow.

    Maybe it's your connection?

  • to slow

  • so basically its windows vista but improved aloooooooooootttttttt, making life easier? and changed the name

  • @yaypurplecheese Not really, there are actually a lot of features in Windows 7 that are true to itself. You can say they look like Mac, but in the end they're both just Operating Systems. They're both competing against each other, and in the end it's really up to you which one you want to buy.

Last month at a convention near Redmond (I'll get the name for you later) Windows 7 was deemed safer than a Mac too ;)

But really it's just which one YOU want to buy, so stop starting OSwars. ._.

  • so hypothetically with enough mods you could turn windows vista into a 7 clone

  • Nope =] These are hard coded changes, the original code is Vista, BUT there's been so much changed code that it's really only the core of vista left, everything else is entirely new =]

  • but at that point they should have based it off XP so then all the vista compatibility issues would have been fixed

  • No but that's the thing, they've fixed all Vista related issues. They didn't have to revert back to XP because even though XP is a good Operating System, it is outdated. They used Vista as it's core engine, and developed and fixed all related issues. Now it's better than all Microsoft Operating Systems! ^^

  • The PC using community has accepted windows 7 very well when vista first came out i got a vista laptop which i am on right now (buying windows 7 tomorrow) anyone who didn't have vista hated vista hated but everyone who uses it is like "what, it's fine" there are no cults or facebook groups yet against win7

  • Yeah I see what you mean. And yeah, there were vista users that were like "ah it's alright, no problems here!" But there were the other users like hard-core PC Gamers who were screaming at their Vista machine due to it's bad optimization and blue-screening XD But yeah, I like the new Windows 7 seems to be a huge boost since Vista anyway :D

  • my taskbar isnt transparent :( and when i hover my mouse over the programs it wont show the little pic of it.. please help me!

  • Your currently in the Windows 7 Basic theme. Right-click your desktop, go to personalization, and make sure your using any of the themes (default is Windows 7 theme) and NOT the Windows 7 Basic theme.

  • If you cannot turn it into the transparent look that you want, check for drivers for your graphics card.

  • the 1,2,3 thing works on vista too

  • You are possibly the... 150th person to say that lol. I know it's available in Vista but Windows 7 is based more around the Windows Key then other Operating Systems. That's why I commented on it =D! - Hope this helped. Scott.

  • how do you do that on 2:31. sometimes it works with me but not always. i have 7 ultimate

  • Do what? xD make the box come up? just hover your mouse over it =]

  • if i do that. ther come no picture of what im doing but letters.

  • Not sure you could be using the Windows 7 Basic theme instead of the Windows 7 theme. check your theme =D

  • Ok, for their stupidness I'm thinking of changing to Linux.

  • The servers were upgrades. But 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 and 3.1 were official releases... I'm still like wtf? lol

  • 1, 2, and 3 are considered to be the foundations before the first actual release of windows (Windows 95).

3.1 is an upgrade or large-scale patch for 3.1.

Either way, according to Microsoft, it' alllll started at 95 =D!

  • If you have say Apple Safari open and you shut down the laptop will Safari go off? even if i pin it to the task bar? HELP!:)

  • I don't think so. When the computer shuts down it keeps whatever's pinned to your taskbar =]

  • Windows 1.0, Windows 2.0, Windows 3.0, Windows 3.1, Windows NT, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000, Windows Xp, Windows Vista, and finally Windows 7. Not to mention the server versions... so this is actually Microsoft's 12/14 OS... Windows "7"? LOL

  • Your adding in all the upgrades. By default there are 7 versions of windows, NT, 95, 98, 2000, XP, Vista, and now 7 ;)

  • whens the 9th one?????

  • Soon - apologies for the wait, I've got exams =S

  • I'm new to this stuff so ... when you install windows 7 what do you get ? Or what changes?

  • Hey Scott! great review! Windows 7 looks AMAZING! (my copy should be here in 6 days :D) Your videos are the most in depth I have found yet, you definitely picked up a new subscriber!

  • yo man you are going to love win 7... I do lol

  • i hear an irish twang off your voice

    U from america or dublin ? :D

  • I am indeed irish! =D From Kildare, (beside dublin) =D

  • so whats the difference if i were to get the home edition over ultimate

  • get the ultimate

  • You could add shortcuts to the taskbar in win XP.

  • Yes, but this is different. When you where adding programs to the task bar in Windows XP, you where adding shortcuts to a specific small part of the bar known as the quick launch bar. Now in Windows 7, the entire bar becomes the quick launch bar. Where all your programs and shortcuts seamlessly interact. =]

  • doesnt look fast

  • Trust me, it is =] I'm just going slowly through the video. If you want I can show a test video of me opening a load of programs and folders, and flick through them all. I'll even open a few games ;) XD

  • sure...

  • aww don't sound so depressed ;)

It's a fast operating system, you just have to try it!

  • it is fast

  • trust me its fast im using one right now

  • cant hear shit from you dude!

  • Sorry about that mate, I know it's a problem, but for this video specifically I don't think I can increase it, for future videos I will though :)

  • i can hear you perfectly fine..

    nice vid mate.

  • I want Microsoft to remake XP. vista was so bad, XP's hype probably tripled. If they were to make a windows XPv2 or windows 7 XP edition, they would MURDER Apple and make Linix commit suicide.

  • But that's what windows 7 is. This new operating system, Windows 7, is better than both Vista AND XP. Windows 7 also comes with an XP mode. Where users can run the latest Windows XP right in the Windows 7 operating system.

  • volume is way too low

  • turn up your volume retard

  • It was a mistake in editing. The volume of the video was fine on my laptop speakers - I guess I've to fix that for future videos.

And... retard? You go around calling people retard because they forgot to increase the volume. Well done mate, you've officially out done yourself with your vocabulary.

  • My point is, you don't go complaining about something you can easily fix.

  • What is it better a 32 bit or 64 bit i have 4 gb of ram and now im using vista 32 bit

  • I'd say anything with 4GB's of ram should use a 64bit Operating System =] 64bit really is made for dual core or quad core machines, so make sure you've got that too!

    - Scott.

  • i will have 32 bit version and core i7 9600gt 1gb 4gb ram ... Will it be good too?

  • Mate xD if Windows 7 works on computers that are over 6 years old. Any computer that has anything more than 4GB's of ram and 1GB of CPU will for sure support it =]

  • how u got it on da 18th?

  • There was a college student only launch event. I'm not in college, but one of the lecturer's invited me along to assist. One of the Microsoft Representatives offered me a full retail copy of Windows 7 Ultimate.

  • I've actually got it 2 weeks prior to the release =]

  • That task bar is a rip-off of OSX's dock. Its a compliment to Apple though because it shows Microsoft finds Apple's ideas ingenious, so they have to copy them.

  • See this is it. You bash an operating system because it's leading the way. Tell me, if Apple's ingenious ideas are revolutionizing how we look at organization and program usage. Then why can't other's follow.

I've got a PS3, you don't see me whining about the fact it's got a controller. I mean, after all it was Atari's and older consoles that had controllers. PS3 shouldn't be allowed to have controllers. No that's just wrong.

    Mate stop bashing, Nobody cares.

  • do i need a powerfull pc for windows 7 wahts ur REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum requirements:

32-bit 1GHz or 64-bit 1GHz, 1GB of RAM (32-bit) or 2GB of RAM (64-bit); 16GB of available disk space (32-bit) or 20GB of available disk space (64-bit); DirectX 9 graphics processor with WDDM driver model 1.0 (For Aero); and a DVD Drive.

  • I was going to watch this but i have to turn my volume right up(5.1 speakers) to even hear you, so i couldnt watch it for the fear of someone signing into messenger etc and blasting my ear drums lol

Just a small tip for future videos maybe, make sure viewers can hear you? :P

  • xD yeah, sorry about that.

The volume when I was working on recording the video, was pretty good on my laptop speakers.. Guess I shouldn't judge them as much anymore.

If your running vista or 7 you can click your volume control button on your system tray, and click mixer. From there you can turn down specific programs like messenger, while you listen to other things, like this video on full =D

    Sorry again, - Scott.

  • i liked vista and had no problems with it so why do people hate vista?

  • See the thing is, I liked Vista too, but the problem is that a LOT of your memory is actually hogged. Windows Vista had a huge issue with memory and file storage, and that's why a lot of users don't like it. Most PC users want an OS that can be fast, easy to use, and not crash a lot.

I liked vista like you did, however Windows 7 was a great choice to move to. =]

    Hope that helps, Scott.

  • hey xXSythenXx, do you think i can run windows 7 with these specs? windows xp pro sp3, intel pentium 1.6GHz, 1 gig of ram and nvidia geforce fx Go5200. if im able to run windows 7, will it run smoothly?

  • Should run ok, I've seen Netbooks with 1GHz pentiums, and 1Gig of ram support it fine ;)

  • great thanks! nice videos btw. 5 stars.
