  • my point is god wanted all men to be saved but knew they would never seek him. so he choose some for salvation. i pray that clears up your question sir.

  • What I don't understand is the Calvinism doctrine of predestination. This conflicts with 1 Timothy 2:4.

  • @dtoften sir he does want all men to be saved but not all come to him as we know. read romans 1:12 sir none seek him. calvinist doctrine teaches that god saw the wickedness of men and saw that no one would choose him therfore he choose an elect few out of mercy just so the elect could glorify him. he wanted us to choose him but because of our wicked hearts we are not able to choose him. brother i pray that you just seek truth and may god guide you in all ways that just bring you closer to him

  • @dtoften I hear so many Christians today say that they don't believe in predestination. It's as if they disdain the word "predestination", when it comes right out of the Bible.

So why doesn't 1Tim2 contradict? I would urge u to read Romans over and over. See how the word "men" is used therein. "Man" has lots of uses. It can mean: mankind, male as distinct from female, adult as distinct from boy, it can mean universally everyone on earth, or kinds of people from different walks of life

  • As a Calvinist, may I say this is a beautiful video. The life-changing realisation of God's complete and glorious sovereignty is surely never more significant, in this life, than repentance before our only Saviour.

I was a *little* surprised to learn Christendom in the 14th century was confined to the Holy Roman Empire, which is particularly ironic as the Emperors and Popes frequently fell out (Henry IV being a famous example). Do the Orthodox churches count as Christian?

  • @LuxAuterna Loving someone doesn't mean you agree with their false doctrine.

  • nice shoes bro..

  • I really enjoy your videos, you do your homework and back up everything you say with something substantial. I do believe Calvinist are ChristiansI was wondering if you could make a video of the history of the trinity teaching, so many people think it's a pagan concept that a video showing them historical proof of the trinity as taught by Jesus, the apostles, and being biblical. Thanks again.

  • great message. Thanks.

  • Thankyou very much for this video...:)

  • The fact that you even had to make this video is sad, why would anyone think a Calvinist is not a Christian?

  • Thank you for your kind word.

  • We do the sinning and God do the saving for evil is ever present with us.We must thank God the Father for Jesus Christ for his finshed work that alone can save us from this body of sin and death.

  • I don't consider myself a Calvinist, but like many Bible believing Christians, I believe that John Calvin was on the right track with scripture. Also, I don't know of any Protestant Christian group who could reject the 5 solas of Calvinism.

  • Not one word was said about predestination. The most distinguished and controversial doctrine of the Calvinist faith. Yet you didn't say a word. If you truly believed it was a upright religion, then why did you feel the need to hide the truth.

  • I have enjoyed your videos a lot! You know your bible and history well. I am a calvinist, and I feel the bible teaches about God's election. But was really intrested as how you interpret the scriptures about this. Thanks

  • A very gracious video.

Calvinism arose because of the Remonstrants, or Arminians. They had five issues they disagreed with in regard to the sovereignty of God in salvation. It was in response to these five issues that the five points of Calvinism arose. The multi-nation Synod of Dort condemned Arminianism as heresy.

One interesting in they Synod was that Arminianism was a "return to Rome," and in fact the RCC actually agrees with Arminianism on all five of their points.Something to think about.

  • excellent message.

  • with all respect, this is somewhat pseudohistory. You show a map of the Holy Roman Empire, a German princely league. That is NOT Christendom, for heaven's sake, especially by the mid 14th century Christianity was far more widespread.

  • The person laying this charge against Calvinism is the same person who is making videos teaching that the Holy Spirit is a female. (Monica Dennington)

    What does tell you??

  • I kinda wish he would show his face lol

  • Very good information, i was brought up in the Presbyterian Faith since birth, at Sunday School and up till now, Calvin's teachings are a benchmark. I am a member of the Knox Free Church , Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland ( Wee Frees) in the City of Perth where Knox made his famous sermon that sparked off the Reformation proper in Scotland

  • Thank you for this.

  • Good video. I've been studying Calvin and the 5 points of Calvinism. I find myself agreeing with many of his teachings. They are Biblical, can't argue that.

I can easily look at my conversion and experience with God's grace and totally understand Romans 8 and 9 through what Calvin saw.

The main point that I agree with is you can't loose your salvation. No one can take us from Jesus once we are justified by grace.

  • Cool video!! Very imformative!! Everybody MUST REPENT!!!!!

  • he didnt mention calvin was a believer in infant baptism just as most catholics and was ready to push aside those who opposed it.

  • You understand that accepting a theological position, does not necessarily mean one has to accept everything the expositor believes, right?

I am thankful Martin Luther had the courage to stand up to the papacy, but that doesn't mean I accept everything he believed. This is a common response from Catholics, "Well, you know Martin Luther believed..." So what?! He just took the first steps, as did Calvin and the others.

  • @bibleortraditions your right, we cant judge reformers because of their beliefs, no man is perfect, think about the times we thought something was Bibical when it really was not. The reformers were not perfect but they took the first steps back to original and Bible Christianity, which the Popes sought to destroy

  • @bibleortraditions And I agree. Although it should be noted that Calvin himself, like Luther, had a VERY controversial career.

  • @quamich4 Infant Baptism is not an essential.

  • @stmcgarret,

  • Oh, I've been to Berean Beacon Channel countless of times but I never knew he was an ex-Roman Catholic priest. His videos are very informative indeed.

  • @LiquidSmooth

If my dictionary is right usury = an exorbitant rate of interest.

In a recent article I learned that Calvin agreed with modest levels of interest and was very anxious about de-railing of humans to our modern times of usury and openly greed.

As far I can remember and see our times are unique for the Western Christian based societies.

Untill the 1990's in Europe we did not have Anglo Saksen bonus scheme's.

    regards

  • Calvin supported usury. This is partly why I have a problem with anyone calling themself a Calvinist. Usury leads to enslavement. The Jews conquered an entire nation through usury when God allowed them to use it.

Also, I believe in salvation through faith alone. The commandments are followed then out of love, not out of being a work that can earn salvation. Jesus said if you love me, keep my commandments.

I know guys that are openly whoremongers and believe they are saved.

  • Calvinism is just the nick name slapped on Reformed Theology and the Doctrines of Grace. It is not a reflection of the every single viewpoint, aspect, or sin of John Calvin's life. We are all with sin and no man is perfect. I am a Calvinist (former Arminian) and I disagree with John Calvin on some minor points. I am part of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church and even within the church there are different shades and degrees with regards to different people's conclusions of Reformed Theology.

  • @Faithful - That's true. I admire Martin Luther and the things he did, but in no way do I endorse 100% of his teachings.

A lot of Catholics say, "Well, you follow Martin Luther and he did this and that!" But I don't care. Scripture tells us to hang onto that which is good, and cast everything else out.

  • @bibleortraditions Amen brother.

As a Calvinist I find this video to be very encouraging. All too often I run into people who claim to know it all, but end up showing their foolishness and lack of understanding when they point fingers saying that Calvinists follow men and not God.

I for one strongly believe that by faith we are saved, whether you are an Arminian or Calvin. Matthew 7:21, which you cited in the video description, sums it up quite well.

May the Lord be with you.

  • God bless you, brother. How refreshing! This is the first time that I've seen a non-Calvinist produce a fair and honest assessment of Calvinism. All else have been fantastic fabrications, straw men, outright false charges, and utter misrepresentations.

The Lord bless you and keep you.

  • I believe that justification is by faith alone. But I also think that one who has true faith will be compelled to love the world and do good works for their fellow people. I believe that all good deeds, whether professed so or not, are in God's name, because there is no other power.

  • I agree. Salvation is of gift of God and can not be earned. By faith in Jesus Christ are we justified. And of course, if we are born again of the Spirit, good works will follow. Good works are the fruits of our faith, not the cause of it.

  • Being a Roman Catholic myself, this video is very eye opening. I have been studying the other branches of Christanity for a while now, and the more I study it out, the more I want to leave the Roman Church. As I, like many people here, feel that the Roman Churches teaching are far away from the true word and intention of God.

Thank you for the wonderful video, and God Bless!

  • It must be a hard decision if you were brought up Catholic to leave but it is great that you are studying the Bible and seeking the truth and accuracy of its interpretation and teachings. While I never was catholic, I long ago realized that God is not about institutions and denominations. He is about Salvation and truth through Jesus Christ, the only mediator between man and God.

  • I totally agree. Good for you, CrazyTyZero. It's not easy because Catholics are brought up believing Catholic doctrines from a very young age. Congratulations, and share the true Gospel of Salvation.

  • @CrazyTyZero - Your comments are very encouraging and I thank you for sharing them with us all. I was raised in the Roman Catholic religion for my life, and in time came to the conclusions you are likewise. Blessings to you and write me if you ever have any questions; not that I know it all, but possibly I can help.

  • Martin Luther was also no saint!

In fact,in 1994, the Church Council of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America rejected Luther's anti-Semitic writings.

  • By "saint" do you mean sinless? No one is sinless. That is why we do not follow men, but Christ. And because a person sins, does that mean we disregard everything he/she ever wrote?

  • But why did Apostle Paul call the church members as the "living SAINTS"?

I know I'm too young for this, but "the Spirit of the Almighty God gives us the wisdom".(Job 33)

In the secular world, a saint is anyone who does good things. But Paul says in Ephesians that we "cannot be saved by righteousness".

In the Biblical view, a saint is anyone who accepted Jesus Christ as his/her Lord and Savior. He/she is the one who never turned back to his/her old life.

  • @contessabaldelli Are you Roman Catholic?

  • @contessabaldelli WOW! So hard on Luther... Yet the E.L.C.A. REFUSES to live by the scriptures by adopting the worldly practice of gay marriage and other such vices.

  • @contessabaldelli Are you a saint?

  • So many protestants are Christians only in name. I'm not Catholic either so don't hate. But seriously so many protestants are just mean and aggressive. They bash other religions, sure a lot are sincere. But yet some are just scary, protestant kids seem to think its OK to throw wild partys and have lots of sex.

  • I am closing comments on this video. I saved a couple below that I feel are very good and convey the point I was trying to make.

Please read the "more info" section to the right.

  • Something to remember:

All Christians are not Calvinists, and all Calvinists are not Christian. Being a Christian is more than understanding theology, but living by the Gospel.

  • Calvinists don't really care about john calvin personally, it's simply a title of a theological viewpoint.

We simply believe in God's supreme sovereignty over ALL things, including who is saved or damned.

  • Good message.

  • A Christian is ANYONE who claims Jesus as LORD and Saviour. It does not matter what denomination, if any, they belong to.

  • Well, you're one of the few that considers us Calvinists as christians.

  • hey he is not alone i consider myself a Biblical Christian not a certain denomination i view many Calvinist by their fruits a brother or sister but like other denominations there are those who claim to be saved and are not it's by their fruits that we know who is or brother or sister
