I was there. Saw the show. Saw SRV many times. 6-7 times. Never forgot that next morning back in Chicago. Heard the news on the radio, very hungover. Cried. Just tragic. He was a beast!!! Sound does no justice. Epic concert!!!!!
@ke1mc2, you're lucky you had the chance to see him live. I would kill the helicopter pilot (again) for a chance to see him live...
I did not know who SRV was until the day he died. I was 8 years old, my father was reading the paper and told me Stevie Ray Vaughan died. I asked who that was and he grabbed my by the ear, dragged me into the stereo room and played me Couldn't Stand The Weather.
@shortymcgriff I concur. Stevie Ray Vaughan is no doubt a great guitarist. I can see why so many people loved him. When I hear Freddie King recordings it blows my mind.
Every time I hear Stevie introduce Jimmie (for the very last time), I think, it HAS to do something to Jimmie to hear this and think about this. Stevie was ALWAYS so proud of Jimmie and let EVERYONE know that Jimmie was his idol. Truely a brother's love.
Its to bad you can't hear Stevie's voice very well. I think Stevie Ray Vaughan's version of Goin' Down sounds more like Freddie King's take on the song rather than Jeff Beck's, which is all right with me. Of course since Freddie King was "The Texas Cannonball" it was probably natural.
makes my hairs stand up and clap by the end
