great video i never got to see jerry live and he will always live through these videos and his great music there will never be anyone that unique and talented
I am..and always will BE a grateful fan...the music never stops....through the eyons of times and tears my heart will be w/ my brother and sisters....Garcia and friends have played a role in my reality and yours...
The Dead is an example of what it's like to feel privileged to be born during a particular era. I am glad I got to see and hear Jerry Garcia and the Dead while they were in the here and now of their time and mine as well. My first car was a '70 Beetle and I remember hearing the Dead when I first turned on the radio after leaving the VW dealership. Those were good times for me.
JOMES1234 - your right, I never should have gotten into a pissin match , everyones entitled to their opinion . Still miss the big guy alot . THANKS AND RIP
cbf1996 - i was referring to ratrare wit his "rubbish" and "con artist" comments.. to each their own.. but they way i see it, these bands weren't about the money.. to me, they sewed the mysteries of life together.. during break ups, deaths, and happy times as well..
music these days is all about the con artists, the rappers who brag about killing, fancy cars, and all that.
like Garcia said "Magic is what we do, music is how we do it" .
Its music deush bag, Jerry was all about the music he didnt givea shit about the business. If you dont like it ok but show some respect. Im defending something thats pure not getting into a pissing match with you. So dont bother replying because I wont read it. I dont waste my time talking shit on youtube, I just want evryone to see what an idiot you are. I bet myself ahundred bucks you respond to this message talking a whole lot of shit because you seem like the type that has nothing more to do
Ratrare- What exactly are you basing your opinion on? The Dead was- is- the band most likely to take chances playing. The bass player had a phD in music starting off. The band was proficient and many styles of music and did get messed up and played for their fans- they never tried to sell records and encouraged Their fans to make and trade tapes. They only left behind the biggest, most loyal fans to love a band- Whether you think they suck doesn't matter- If you love the DEAD POST here NOW!!
8-9-95 it still hurts real bad . Jerry I love you and will forever be thankful. Im 42 and saw my 1st show at the Capitol Theatre when i was 13 in 1978 and caught over 200 shows from 1978 to 1995 , last being Giants Stadium . I still listen every day and catch Bobby and Phil whenever they are in town . Jerry and the GD are a huge part of my life and will always be . Again thank you , I love you more than words can tell .
Great photos, brought back alot of memories, but Jerry was born in 1942,not 1945.I miss him dearly, his guitar playing and singing came straight from the heart.
he is gone but his music lives forever. I have many fond memories of being a really little kid listening to the Dead. I really wish I had a chance to see him.
The dead wasn't just about music. It was also about all the kind souls like you that made the magic happen. Thanks for sharin your tribute with everyone and stay kind.
i miss u jerry if u guys want a god tribte start listening to goverment mule there graeat but still i miss jerry hell maybe ill c u up there man peace
thinking of you now and forever..I had a blast doing a tribute show in 96..and all those memories of my friend Jim ,listening to Grateful Dead 24/7,turning me back on to some great music...
The storie teller has no choise, and soon you will not hear his voice. it makes me sad that all is left is the word jamband or as i call it jerrys retarted seman
I agree ... jamband is not a genre. It can be jazz, rock, blues, techno, etc. Just because a band has a long instrumental session everyone now says "oh it's a jamband." -- I've always had a problem with that. Anyway, the music lives on through my page too, check out my Fire on the Mountain. Thanks for the tribute!
Truly one of the best guitarists of ALL-TIME he did things on the instrument most couldn't fathom. he inspired so many. He picked us up when we were down. Jerry, you continue to inspire
curious: why this video has different music than every other version on the web? answers? i think the other song was insulting...this is much more befitting a beautiful man like jerry. (and i know he's doesn't mean in a "bed" in the song...but i personally liked the humurous imagery through the tears). "Going home, going home, by the waterside i will rest my bones." rest in peace always jerry-eternally grateful for all of the inspiration & love you brought to my life. jillstraw
BrettMeisner great video and nice work. Jerry, thank you for the joy your music has brought me and the world. I send you my love and energy to the heavens. I know youre shining down on us and well...thank you! Keep Jammin up in the skies because your music will play on forever.
Man...Brokedown was the last song I EVER heard Jerry sing live as the encore @Shoreline '95 on Sunday evening...this is so bittersweet. Keep on Truckin'ya'll
like i was trying to say a few months ago this slideshow is totaly out of context... do a bit of research before you slaughter a beautiful song like this.
also I admit my spelling is quite crap but then again I'm not a so-called "aclaimed rock critic" who can't spell for shit or even lie well.. Like a mr meisner
the only thing Brett has done of any worth to wit using brokedown palace as a soundtrack.. as for kip - he had better be real only a sick fucker would make a story like that up! But with Brett anything possible {apparently,}
"this is probably the best video ever posted on youtube. But then, what else could the world expect from some one as talented and recognized in the world of Rock Music as Brett Meisner? The man is a giant in the business and the artform" HAHAHAHAHAHA FUCKING IDIOT!
How dare you even make a video (if you can call a slideshow a video) of Garcia. You stupid fucking pig. I remember this piece of shit when you posted it over at RMGdead. Remember how impressed we all were then, same goes for now you fucking jerk-off.
you need to settle down who the fuck do you think you are?you really sound like the jerk off here.what makes you think you are a fucking authority on garcia.how many times did you see the dead or the garcia band? you just sound like an outspoken authority on nothing.keep your mouth shut and you might learn something asshole
Yeah 1942 is what I thought too. I liked the video but showing a picture with him sitting on an actual bed during the lyrics in a bed by the water side is totaly off. Thats not what the lyrics mean. Thanks for the video but I think you could have done better.
