very cool! The guitar playing in this vid really does it justice. This pedal does a great job for getting those old time Hendrix tones for those Hendrix cats out there. I pair mine with a good octavia octave up pedal. Tried the Roger Mayer octavia but was disappointed. The 'Fillmore Thunder' by Elite Tone is awesome the octave notes ring out clear undistorted. It rocks a groovy BC108 Fuzz in the same box. Mine was $177 I think. Well worth it!
I'm looking into getting the Chicago Iron Octavian Plus Two-Tone pedal, but I see a lot of demos on YouTube of people using them with a SunFace - Is the fuzz from the Chicago Iron not strong enough, that it needs the addition of another fuzz pedal?
Thanks for posting this demo of these two. It helped me decied on getting one. I just picked up a chicago iron tycobrahe octavia art work one. I had the hendrix dunlop and the octafuzz, but liked the chicago iron the best. Now I have to get a bc108/183 sunface to compare to my fulltone 70. Damn you for influnce'in and making me broke lol.
the octavian with an old Heil Sound talkbox will rattle your fillings loose and makes the talkbox really growl and come alive. Another awesome pedal by Chicago Iron is the Parachute (parapedal repro) Jeff Beck used one. It is a very dramatic wah with a lot of sweep and has an envelope follower effect as well... both controlled by the sweep of the treadle. HIGHLY recommended. With the Octavian it is incredible. A real vintage Parapedal will cost you over $1,000. Parachutes are much, much cheaper.
Parachutes are still fucking expensive! 380 dollars for a Wah. The cheapest way to get a Tychobrahe wah sound is to get a refurbished Para-baby (a Tychobrahe circut in Dunlop style housing) but those are around 200 dollars, probably worth it though.
It might have been rolled down a little but not much. I have found that you lose the interesting accidental harmonics by rolling the tone off too much. Sometimes you have to experiment to find the sweet spot. Cheers!
jimi's arbiter was germanium or silicon? i like the dunlop version!

Reverse the setup. BC-108 to Octavia

I prefer driving the front end of the fuzz with octave for the overtones and the weird ringy stuff. The other way hurts my ears.

Very very cool!!
Question: The manual recommends turning the tone knob all the way down were you doing that? Whatever you were doing sounds great.

what were you doing with the guitar to get the dive bombing tones?

Just using the strat's tremolo bar in conjunction with the pedals and amp.
