I think I would go with an extended magazine semi-automatic S.W.A.T shotgun. If a decapitated human being can survive for more then a minute, I'm not taking any chances with a bloodthirsty zombie with no sense of pain. I'm guessing the best bet is to pulverize the body to a mass of unrecognizable zombie flesh. It also has an amazing stopping power to reduce the risk of the likely event of adrenaline-high super zombies, and a hopefully quick reload to reduce venerable periods.
