@sabizoune They are building a beautiful new pagoda/meditation hall there. Based on ancient, traditional architecture, there will also be individual meditation rooms in order for the seasoned meditator to be able to sincerely focus on their respective practice. BUt none of this is presently ready until some time this coming summer. This is in North Fork, California, which is where assume you are going.

Thanks for your post. I'm real screwed up right now, I left my first Vipassana course at the end of day three (9pm last night). Now I'm shaking and crying in my bed, trying to reconcile an overwhelming failure complex. Whatever you do DON'T LEAVE. I practised hard for 3 days in Anapanna breathing and have brought a lifetime of shit to the surface and for some reason have chosen to take that away with me instead of taking away a total resolve and a feeling of achievement - a real Dhammadrama!
It's been two and a half years since I did that Vipassana. My practice is still here, but not as strong as it could be. I'm ready to go again. It's time. Namaste.
Hello friend, yes that first retreat is a life long memory of wonder, isn't it? I hope you have persued your practice. It has many blessings to give. Some around and say hi if you have a chance. your friend in the dhamma, daniel
a pleasant one vipassana forces you to face your demons which is not easy to do, in fact it's probably one of the hardest things to do but unfortunately it's the only way to resolve them. Also, when one does a 10 day course they are losing all the things they love in life for those ten days, so expect the emotion of loss and of craving and try to understand why it's there. May you all experience true peace and true happiness which is the inevitable result of this meditation....
I've also done a few 10 day Vipassana courses and would like to encourage everyone to at least try it out. This meditation has totally transformed my life and it would be shame for others not to attempt it out of fear of the unknown. This meditation works in the same way for anyone but every person has unique experiences and judgments of those experiences and instead of plastering over those painful experiences with ...(continued)
I'm interested on what your comments were. I'm planning in attending soon and would like to hear all honest opinions-whether good or bad. Could you send me a message and tell me what you really thought. Thanks.
So sorry to hear that maddfurey. when my Vipassana was finished and we were able to converse on the 11th day, I heard a couple of similar stories. Certainly not the majority. They were also people who really had NO idea what to expect and were not familiar with what this technique really is about. I encourage you to do it again especially with the wisdom you have gained. The returning students really seemed to have a good deal of wisdom and understanding that helped me in my own process. namaste
I ve done a 5 day buddhist silent retreat but a 10day one is one that i would like to doooo....i found i did nt want to come back to the real world..it was a bit of a shock to the system!(:
yeah man. i didn't know any thing about vipassana, but i just went with some friends and after the first day i knew that i had to take it seriously, so i did, and it was worth it.

@Boleskine33 Fear is an opportunity to access the satisfaction that comes from facing it and a chance to grow beyond the limits of that fear.

i've removed my comments. i've decided it might not be skillful and might cause someone to avoid doing a course which isn't my intention
