  • HEY HEY HEY! IT'S FAAAAAT ALBERT!

  • he was heavy on heroin at this point

  • i'm just waiting for him to exclaim, " Kids say the darndest things! "

  • Youtube arguments are like the special olympics. Even if you win- your still retarded.

  • It's kinda funny to hear them use words like negro and coloured like it's no big deal

  • bill cosby is the best

  • Interesting to look back at an era when racial tensions were so high.

  • Racial tensions are still high...

  • @Miles164

not nearly as bad as it used to be

  • He's only 72 years old, still has a few years more.

  • Gah he was really good lookin back then!!

  • Whoa!! He was so goodlooking!! :D :D :D

  • Really, just google him for his official website and go to "news" to read his hilarious rebuttal to the rumors of his death.

  • Hey,if Bill Cosby left this Earth,I would be heavily torn up. This man is beyond comic genius.

  • STOP THIS! IT'S HOAX...LOOK IT UP. He is alive. God, don't you think you'd hear it on the news???

  • You A**HOLE.

  • What a real man.

  • "Flizzum, flazzum, gizzum, gazzum!"

  • He's handsome and adorably sweet!!!!!

  • i live in africa, the only visible difference from an african american and african is that in africa there is variation in how dark one is, where i live in west africa you can sometimes tell what tribe someone is by how dark they are, east africans tend to be lighter than west africans, it depends on the region and the people group, african americans are all mixed because they don't have the tribal distinctions.

  • And they also might be mixed with white (irish, italians, english etc..), latinos and native american people.

  • amazing to see one of the funniest men ever at such an early stage in his careeer

ironic that he would later become controversial for racial reasons

  • he said negro

  • omg what is this lol

  • funny how his comedy routine at the time mentioned a "negro president".

  • Zip zop Zoebediebop.

  • wow, I've never seen footage of Mr. Cosby when he was so young! This is really interesting!

  • Great to see Paul Soles again!

  • WTF you faggets talking about?

  • People who come and comment on these video clips and get into intense political discussions that border on offensive are losers. Enjoy the clip for what it is and go get a life. cheers!

  • Bill Cosby is awesome!

  • Black people in Cosby's day and age were predominantly Republican. I found that out because the GOP has historically been the party of leading us out of slavery and being friendly and supportive of minorities. That was until the far-left started creating socialistic policies that destroyed the economy and encouraged minorities to rely on them for everything.

  • Absolutely historically accurate. Lincoln was the first Republican president and it was his party that freed the slaves, gave them the vote, and under which the first black congressmen and senators were elected. Lincoln also desegregated the White House. It remained desegregated for decades until Woodrow Wilson, a Democrat, resegregated the White House. These are all facts of record and can be proven or disproven with a bit of research.

  • @FreeGiftOffers blacks started becoming Democrats LONG BEFORE this. it was the democratic president truman who desegregated the military in the 1940s.

  • Democrats don't have real good memories. They don't even remember that in the 1980s that it was Reagan who gave amnesty to illegal immigrants. No matter what the Republicans do, there will always be those close-minded dems that see everything the Reps do as evil.

  • @dogeymon83 i guess you're too stupid to realize the parallel between empathizing toward the less represented (blacks) and empathizing toward the less represented (the poor). liberals have been consistent on this point. it's also interesting that many of the best presidents in U.S. history have been called socialists in their times for policies widely embraced today.

  • america is a disgusting country

  • And yet, everyone wants our help, and continues to get it. You'll love America when it's gone.

  • No one wants your help actually. You can ask the iraqis and the afghans.

  • When there's a natural disaster, you sure as hell know that nations call on help from the U.S.

  • oh pls it's usually the neighbouring countries that help first. and btw, u.s. is broke. so that means u need to borrow money and then come help. what a joke. why not just stay home and fix ur economy.

  • u mean u can actually elect a president in the us? the whole thing's a farce. leaders are pre-determined. the most qualified candidate, ron paul didin't even stand a chance.

  • I think Ron Paul would be a far safer choice than our current one. But when he said we caused 9/11, he lost credibility to me. And he seems to attract a lot of those 9/11 conspiracy kooks.

We don't choose our president? Any evidence of that?

  • He didin't say we caused 9/11. He said the same thing as the CIA study which said 9/11 happened because of blowback.

Look at how the media shuns Ron Paul. Do you really think you have that many options? Obama and McCain are basically the same, they only differ in rhetoric.

  • Yeah, the whole Obama vs. McCain thing is a dark chapter of history. It definitely was a time when both sides appeared the same.

I see the greater good playing out though. Obama is showing us how insane the far-left socialist movement is a how much damage they've done over the years. Their agenda is being made clear. And now that it's proven that man-made global warming is completely false, the democrat party is slowly blowing up into ash.

  • Dogeymon! Are you INSANE? Where were you the last 8 years before the Obama Admin? I vaguely remember an idiot from Texas running this nation into the ground. Bush was President from Jan 20, 2001 till Jan 20, 2009. 9/11/2001 the worst attack on North American continent since the War of 1812, happened under a Republican. The lies that brought us to War with Iraq. And the Banking Crisis of 2008. ARE YOU MENTAL!?! YOU REPUBLICANS F*CKED UP MY COUNTRY FOR 8 YEARS!!! Geta life you idiot.

  • You need to think back to Roosevelt's day, when he laid down the foundation with Social Security. There's been a socialistic movement that throughout history has been slowly giving the government an imbalance of power, and building up reliance from the people on them.

9/11 happened because of the culture of false security the administration before him created. Our homeland security was in shambles before Bush. Bush did reform it and kept us safe for his entire administration.

  • Dude, wake up, planning 9/11 wasn't overnight but it didn't take that long either. 9/11 happened during Bush's Jr's watch, a whole eight months in. Even the first World Trade bombing in '93 happened less than five weeks after Bush Sr. left office. The false security lies with the money grubbing Republi-CAN'TS.

  • A classic Liberal and Fascist maneuver. Resorting to anger and name calling when someone doesn't say what they like or have different opinions. lol

  • 6 of those 8 years I remember a strong economy, and no other attack on our country since then.

  • @dogeymon83 ron paul gained credibility with me when he said that. he said we caused 9/11 because of blowback. which is the same thing that the CIA said. do you have any idea about what the CIA has done in the past 50 years? any idea?!

  • Wow. That story about Mr. Cosby having to eat in the kitchen is shocking to me. Sometimes I forget how this country used to be.

  • @ alexhallgren Don't attack the country. Slavery is another form of evil that has run deep throughout the entire world, the source of evil is the nature of humanity. We tried to establish this country to be a shining city on the hill, and we sure got farther to that than any other country. Abolishing slavery and racism is a slow process, sad to say. And the founders definitely realized this.

  • i always think it important to say whatever colour and then say people. As some people don't see that way. it's not blacks, whites, jews. it's black people, white people, jewish people; it's one thing you shouldn't simplify

  • Comment removed

  • watermelon in the closet...gold

  • A great comedian with possibly one of the top 10 shows of all time!

  • I love Bill Cosby. He's a cool guy. The guy was only saing "colored" because that was the term for black people back then in the 1960s and before that. If you ask me, I don't like the term myself. I just call them black.

  • "Colored" is more acceptable to say than the N-word.

  • Or you could say the more respectable term - African American. If you look at my skin color It's brown not black. I don't get how black started being the term for African Americans.

  • i think maybe because some African Americans are really black. i have a friend with black smooth skin with red lips. he is to cute, i love his skin. but maybe that is why, i don't know.

  • Nah it's all right. I was a little extra hostile and now that i think about it. i mean, black people call Americans "white" people so it shouldn't sound offensive when were often referred to as black people. Some of my fellow black people do get offended a little too easily and try to pull the race card.

  • have you considered the fact that they used to be just... african, and shipped over as slaves to america? africans are darker (almost "black") than african americans due to climate.

  • If you were to look at an actual african, some of them are closer to being "black" rather than "brown", these were the "blacks" that were the slaves, your skin has lightened a little bit because you are in a different climate to africa.

  • @giles64 the skin has lightened because of the forceful mixing of slaves with their slavemasters.

  • If you sincerely believe that, youre an idiot

  • If you sincerely refute my comment in such a rude way it proves that one, you are white, two..you are ignorant and arrogant, and three you are sheltered. My great great grandmother was raped by her slave master and tried to drown the baby in a river...some say she put it in a basket and pushed it out into the river. Since she wasnt successful, I and my family are fruits of such a horrible crime. There are many stories like that and over 75% of african americans are mixed with european blood.

  • Have you taken a cultural anthropology class before or maybe a class on African American history? I truly recommend you signing up for one. I dont say that out of spite but it looks like you are interested in history/culture and genetics... and while your theories are a bit faulty...I commend you for at least putting your ideas out there.

  • @CJThaSavage: Honest question for you. What's the respectable term for a black (or brown) person living in Japan? Are they African Japanese? I'm not trying to start a race argument, just wondering your opinion.

  • The respectable term would be African American. but they would probably be called black.

  • @cubsfan4life33 japanese people call anyone who is not japanese a foreigner or gaikokujin. THey dont talk about race as much as americans tend to talk about it. I feel a lot more comfortable living here than in the states. Japan is a lot less racist. If they want to be specific they say kokujin...for black people...and for whites hakujin. However people here mostly just call me Amerikajin...but sometimes gaikokujin (foreigner)

  • Colored. LOL.

So, what's different about the term People of Color. That We came up with it. I hate that designation. White people. . and then Everybody else, as though it's us against them. That's awful. White people are not a solid block, all the same. People of color are not a cohesive group at all.

I think it's bullshit, but since we came up with it, it's supposed to be okay.

    Crap.

  • LOL BLAX

  • lol cwakas

  • I'm 28 years old not use to seeing him like this.

  • Man he was hot!

  • daaaaang if he 27 then he must be.........73 now!

  • If this video is circa 1963,Bill Cosby was either 25 or 26 when this was made. He's now 72. Needless to say,he's showing his age a little.

  • he looks soo handsome :D

  • Wow!!!!!! He looks so young and quite handsome too!

  • who's the President now?

  • LOL... speaking of retards...

  • Wow, whatever happened to this guy?

  • WOW! Handsome Man! Love Cosby <3

  • damn, Bill was fine in his day! You can just see the muscles!!!

  • he was in the navy- thats probably why hes in such good shape.

  • Are you jealous?

  • With the hippin' and the hoppin' and the bippin' and the boppin'...

  • ur goin w/ the stereotype that all black people are horrible and unsuccessful in life. well sir, ma'am, whatever u r, there are PLENTY good african-american ppl in america, including bill cosby. u should shut up and do as UR told. wait, "do as ur told"? what the hell does that mean? that black ppl should listen to white ppl cuz they're inferior? u need help. what do u mean do as ur told? white ppl don't listen to ppl who think they're better then them, what u think black ppl feel? white n black=

  • uh, no white people don't do not run this country, black people have a very extensive story line and their are sooo many interesting stories, so do white people, i mean, marie curie, harriet tubman, both wonderful people, we haven't been allowed, we earned the right to live peacfully, and we have achievements too. You are not superior to me, you didn't do anything for me, i did things for myself, you didnt' fight for my rights, i did. So shut your filfthy mouth.

  • You obviously don't know any Blacks.

  • ur goin w/ the stereotype that all black people are horrible and unsuccessful in life. well sir, ma'am, whatever u r, there are PLENTY good african-american ppl in america, including bill cosby. he is not the *only*. there r plenty bad white ppl, 2. duh. go somewhere else if u gonna be such a racist biggit.

  • and he's more successful than half the comedians back then.

  • man 50 years later and bill cosby's voice hasnt changed a bit

  • I love the "colored" its so funny to watch these old clips where white people are so afraid to say what they are thinking that they tip toe around it by saying "colored" its awesome

  • they were just in transition from 'Negro'... oddly enough, at this time "black" was as derogatory as 'coon' or 'jungle face'. 'Black' fared better post-60's, I guess it's in the wane since the 90's with the reemergence of 'Nigger' and the more politically friendly, yet awkward 'African American/Canadian'.

  • It's sort of like that one female rapper that the press nicknamed "Feminem" (I can't remember her actual name), because she was a "female Eminem." But except for the fact that they were both white, there was no comparison whatsoever. She looked, acted, talked and sounded absolutely nothing like Eminem. But the trade papers like to draw these arbitrary connections.

  • He's a long wy away from "Zibbity Zabbity Zoob Zoob"

  • I love Bill Cosby - he has always seemed like such a great man

  • WOW....Class Act, then and Now!!!

  • Thank you Mr. Cosby for all you have done and still do.

  • golly he was a good looking man

  • i still think the cosby show is 1 of the best comedy's ever , it never gets bored , same with MASH 4077

bill cosby rules , never said fuck or what ever , and i do respect that

  • He did make one,and only one mention, but in character, not through himself,of the word "asshole" in BILL COSBY HIMSELF.

  • Weird to think that Bill, one of my heroes, is the same age here as I am right now.

  • wounder if the guy interviewing him knew Cosby would grow up to be one of the greatest comedians of all time

  • Bill Cosby's B-day 7/12/37. He was 26 years old in this interview. Does anyone know who the interviewer is???

  • jesus how old is bill? he looks like 30ish in 1963

  • it says in the sidebar: 27-year-old Bill Cosby talks about his early days as a ground-breaking comic.

  • Comment removed

  • ZIP ZOP ZOOBITY BOP!

  • Yeah, Bill Cosby is no doubt one of the greatest comedians ever. We used to listen to his records when I was a kid back in the '60s- absolutely hilarious! And the ORIGINAL Bill Cosby Show where he played Chet Kincaid was a riot, too!

This is also a good reminder that past eras were not always kind because of prejudice and bigotry...

  • Yeah, Cosby was a great comedian and I dont think he gets the respect he deserves. The Cosby Show alone was a milestone.

Sadly I think his Son was shot by some crazed racist car jacker or something.

  • So because his killer was white all of sudden it's "racist"...

  • You're right dude. It was a robbery that got so far out of hand. The killer wasn't racist at all. He even aplogized but it doesn't excuse the fact that he murdered somebody. And Bill Cosby is such a kind hearted man that he actually didn't want his son's killer to receive the death penalty.

  • Yea I am not at all defending the his sons killer in any way, it's just that it seems today everything is "racist". I just watched a video that depicted a black kid in a calender pushing a mower and that was "racist" because he was the only one working. I was like HUH? Black people are not to be portrayed as working people now? I mean hell, I used a pen today that had black ink, was that racist?

  • Ya got the puddin' and the pops and the....

  • Saw Cosby on Letterman recently. Still has funny as ever.

  • Classy guy that Cosby. He handles it so well. And it feels so strange and archaic watching him talk about having to eat in the kitchen, or being "allowed" to eat with the others out on the patio. Or that he was eating with another gentlemen, a "negro", in the kitchen as well. Either way, much respect for Bill. Through his comedy he helped move the US forwards in regards to equality!

  • Totally agree. At age 27, he is such a mature person. Very different from the sunglasses wearing 'know what i'm sayin?', 'keep it real!' kids of today.

  • LOL watermellon in the closet haha.. A+ material 46 years later

  • I still have 4 Bill Cosby LP's from the 60's - brilliant stuff!

  • hahaa ashton got everyone to watch this =] Bill cosby is da fuckkin mann

  • This is typical Candadian Broadcasting Corporation approach. Doesn't surprise me that the interviewer is Toronto's Paul Soles. But did Bill actually say that he had a black President? I hope so.

  • haha, found this from aplusk!

    rock out, ashton!

  • I loved the Cosby Show. It was the one show our family could watch together and laugh our faces off. :D

  • Happy 25th anniversary to the Cosby Show. That's one series I never get tired of. That show along with All In The Family both stood at the Nielsen #1 for 5 seasons in a row.

  • Likewise, Would be great to have more shows on TV that the whole family could watch together without feeling awkward because of certain situations. There was such respect in how he brought things around in his writing, speech and character.

  • Thanks, Ashton--Bill's always been one of my favorites. I'm an old fart and remember when he started out--this brings it all back.

  • So amazing this was just a few years before I was born & it's like hearing about a different world. I remember some backlash he got a few years ago when addressing a graduating class, but he knows his stuff. Sure he clowns, but he's always been dignified even while acting like a goof... and even living in times that so many of us would have difficulty enduring w/ this much grace.

  • aplusk rocks!!!

  • Thanks Ashton!

  • Interesting!! I agree.. he was one of the first to show people that there really is no difference... anyone can be awesome.. :)

  • great interview

  • Thanks Ashton. I like him like this too. He was really new, fresh.

  • That was interesting. Thanks for sending me over here aplusk.

  • wow, he used to be so interesting.

  • Omg he was so cute!

  • Thanks Ashton! :]

  • This is amazing to hear... he is so intelligent even through all the oppression that he faced in his life and even more so through his career. That is a strong, great man!

  • one of my role models. a great intelligent african american man . & he was handsome.

  • omg!!! he was cute!! :)

  • He Was Cute...What Happened.Lol I Dont Wanna Get Old

  • lol i know thats true but we all have to get their someday i just hope that i look good!!

  • Damn Bill was hot...and a lot less annoying back then....This lil video taught me much about him.

  • Him and Carlton from Fresh Prince looks alike.

  • ,,,I never would have noticed that unless I read your statement...thanks

  • Second that :)

  • he was sexy and still smart :)

    but srsly Bill...whooo chile

  • An intelligent, clean comedian. Great guy.

  • The late Richard Pryor(1940-2005) followed in Bill Cosby's footsteps but unlike Cosby,Pryor became dirty.

  • love you mate, ur the best

  • I watched Fat Albert as a kid and I didn't see color but commedy about kids growing up in a urban setting.(more like the junkyard). I have grown up with Bill Cosby and know that the man is smarter than any PHd I've ever met.

  • Cosby is intelligent as hell

  • fat albert and the cosby kids

  • Nice historical perspective, thanks! The skits he talks about are on his debut album, "Bill Cosby Is A Very Funny Fellow ... Right!", and, IMHO, the Noah one still holds up today. For me, "To Russell, My Brother, Whom I Slept With", the one he did a few years later, is his best. Treat yourself, it's on YT in three parts. In between, he released "Wonderfulness" with the hilarious "Chicken Heart" skit. Bill had 11 comedy albums in the '60s alone, much more than Jello this guy.
