To those who don't know: A 2nd Rio will SOON become a reality! The follow-up has yet to be greenlit and director Carlos Saldanha is still in talks about it.
Some of us Rio fans have been agreeing that the 2nd film should take place in another Brazilian city, namely Sao Paolo. Due to the fact it is a large, modern, metropolitan city located 450 km away from Rio and has less vegetation than the latter. Imagine the 2 Spix Macaws venturing into this new terrain!
@twist58 i dont mean to be a killjoy, but doesn't that defeat the purpose? The movie's name wouldn't be "Rio" anymore because it takes place in Sao Paulo.
@Voider6211. Of course, titling the sequel like "Rio: New Terrain" or something remotely close to that would certainly NOT defeat the purpose. So, maybe it could happen.
