After the L-Cross (Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite) is slammed into the surface of the moon, if there is really a possibility of water, NASA predicted that there will be a big splash of water after the collision .. It is measured that the collision would really really great .. ^_^

I think NASA needs a new direction towards a bio-consumer based extraterrestrial program where "average" individuals would have extraordinary experiences that are available only to astronauts. I don't know what all those people are talking about. The video and audio quality is excellent for the price. I mean sure, it starts out as a $5 camera, but its value goes up the closer it gets to the moon, so it's actually worth whatever price they charge the taxpayer.
2) The probe, as I understand, was a piece of space junk that was redirected to hit the moon and "blow some dirt into space" to see if there was any water in it. That's far cheaper than to spend several years and many millions of dollars just to "dig a hole" in that great sandbox orbiting our world. Notice the make-shift ground control room.

If water is detected in the plume of debris, it will indicate larger, general stores of water in other places. The crater they crashed into isn't the only place expected to hold water, it is only a very small part of it.
The "sham of a control room" doesn't indicate... anything. It might as well have been a couple of people on a couch with laptops. You don't need chromed, blinking interfaces and giant screens to collect data.

This is definitely a weird mission. Why spend millions of dollars just to crash a device into the surface of the moon? If they can find traces of water on mars without crashing into it, what makes the moon any different? This just screams hidden agenda.
They landed on it to find other things that just water, it was important to land on Mars because it takes a lot more money to go to Mars, so they wanted to get the most information out of the mission. It was probably cheaper to crash than to land.
For those who are whining about no footage of the impact, Hubble was pointed at the Moon and I am sure many other instruments were as well. Once they are done processing the images/data, They will be released the pubic to view. China, India, Russia, ESA and Japan have been involved with the moon. They have all had unmanned landings. USA may be the only one to have a manned mission but is not the only one to land on the moon.
Bombs are by definition explosive devices. Neither of the American LCROSS space craft that impacted the moon exploded, nor were they designed to do so... the US did not "bomb the moon."
Hypothetically speaking, if there are no regulations on what we can do to the moon, if Kim Jong Il decided to nuke the moon, can anybody do something about it? or if Bill Gates decided to paint windows logo on the moon? I believe since the moon as a part of the universe, the US should communicate their intention to the world before doing anything to it.
The Outer Space Treaty specifically prohibits nuclear weapons from entering space and any non-government agencies (such as Bill Gates) must be monitored by the states that signed the treaty. So yes there are regulations on what we can do to the moon and every other celestial body.

ya this really is a waste of time and money....as much as the people at nasa are geniuses there dumb at the same time...we are perfectly happy living on earth so why are they trying to live on other planets trying to figure out what they have and dont. just focus on blowing up asteroids thats all the world really needs from nasa anyway.

WRONG. Earth will eventually be swallowed up by the sun when the sun expands and goes through the final stages of its "life," as a red giant. (If you don't believe me, look it up).

So the explorers and navigators hundreds of years ago should have just been happy with where they lived and not ever bothered to discover places outside of mainland europe? If you want me to dumb it down for you to something you probably have enjoyed in your life, because of discovering things outside of our planet we wouldn't have satellite tv. Of course, greater knowledge of our universe etc is invaluable compared to satellite TV. One should always be interested in furthering their knowledge

I don't know what all those people are talking about. The video and audio quality is excellent for the price. I mean sure, it starts out as a $5 camera, but its value goes up the closer it gets to the moon, so it's actually worth whatever price they charge the taxpayer.

2) The probe, as I understand, was a piece of space junk that was redirected to hit the moon and "blow some dirt into space" to see if there was any water in it. That's far cheaper than to spend several years and many millions of dollars just to "dig a hole" in that great sandbox orbiting our world. Notice the make-shift ground control room.

If water is detected in the plume of debris, it will indicate larger, general stores of water in other places. The crater they crashed into isn't the only place expected to hold water, it is only a very small part of it.
The "sham of a control room" doesn't indicate... anything. It might as well have been a couple of people on a couch with laptops. You don't need chromed, blinking interfaces and giant screens to collect data.

If I may answer some of these comments:
1) The whole purpose of this is to confirm the existence of water on the moon, something which was previously considered unlikely and unrealistic until several probes found it. If it is true, then we may take advantage of this someday in the future, but it also raises new questions about our moon.

Do you really think that this was all there was too it? Of all the things going on with the economy, the middle east, health care, etc. Why is it so important to explore this information now? I don't see how any of this is of importance. As with everything, we are getting a fraction of the truth. Heck, there wasn't even a shred of evidence this even took place. I'm not calling it a hoax, but with their technology, this is the best footage? Sounds reminiscent of the pentagon "plane" incident.

This is definitely a weird mission. Why spend millions of dollars just to crash a device into the surface of the moon? If they can find traces of water on mars without crashing into it, what makes the moon any different? This just screams hidden agenda.

They landed on it to find other things that just water, it was important to land on Mars because it takes a lot more money to go to Mars, so they wanted to get the most information out of the mission. It was probably cheaper to crash than to land.

For those who are whining about no footage of the impact, Hubble was pointed at the Moon and I am sure many other instruments were as well. Once they are done processing the images/data, They will be released the pubic to view. Quit your whining about it as in a few days most of you will have what you want then go off to whine about some other idiotic issue.

Bombs are by definition explosive devices. Neither of the American LCROSS space craft that impacted the moon exploded, nor were they designed to do so... the US did not "bomb the moon."

The Outer Space Treaty specifically prohibits nuclear weapons from entering space and any non-government agencies (such as Bill Gates) must be monitored by the states that signed the treaty. So yes there are regulations on what we can do to the moon and every other celestial body.
