A truley amazing collection with the amazing architecture making up one small part of it. A beutiful jewel added to a beutiful country and yes, I to am american. I especially loved the large suit of armor for both horse and rider dating back to ancient Persia ( Iran)

That's not true. Persian culture was mainly influenced by the Indians and Arabs. The first civilization originates in Iran's southern town of Jiroft. Look up the Jiroft culture. It's a very rich culture. During the Achaemenid Empire, Northern India was a part of Iran. So, how do you think they got their culture? Funny thing is, you Arabs (not all Arabs) are using knife and spoon to eat. Both knife and spoon are Persian inventions. Even the string instrument, known as tar, is a Persian invention.

I'm sure they will have an enviable collection, Islamic art has a long tradition and has produced many masterpieces. Qatar should invest in tourism beyond the very wealthy. To see such a sight tourism must become a VERY serious priority.

Tourism in the Middle East? For that to become a reality the people need to set their priorities. Egypt is no shining example of government reform & has a great many problems.
