I want to teach this song. I like this version better than the new version. Does anyone know what they are saying after "oh how wonderful it is"...I have no clue. Not jesus promised..but the first time..lol
Thank you so much, arykavfc. I heard the original years ago and forgot the words. Seems to me the newer version had been 'dummied-down' and there's no reason...unless you just want the thrill and the shout without the substance, or the Word....and more importantly (in my opinion), the anointing.
But again, this is my $.02 worth.
(I still would like to know why the linear notes were not consulted.)
i can call him in the mornin' i can call him in the middle of the night, Lawd have mercy, Yes I can because at this point in my life thats all I got is Jesus.....
Sometimes songs are better left in their original compositions Remakes are not always the answer. I use the old version at my church. I can play the new one, just don't choose to.
I think they put this on a album9 so u know it was a while ago) it may have been a CD back like in 89 or 90 i like tis version. no church like Calvary
This song was recorded on the "Best for Last" album, which was recorded on the very early 90's (90 or 91 I believe). Bishop did the lead on the recorded version.
My Brother, you are amazing. Thanks for the videos. The eighties were an amazing era for Gospel music, and its good to see these. A lot of the current musicians were just babies then...so a 'picture is worth 1000 words' There is definitely an 'Anointing' on this material. Bless you for posting

The young man on the piano (Pastor now in Columbus, OH) Timothy Carpenter wrote this song. It's now on Chic. Mass Choir 'Project' CD.
