The simple solution is this - eliminate marriage as a legal concept. All people will have the right to a civil union, and those who wish to be "married" can do so in a church. We could, for the sake of expedience, deputize ministers as we do now with marriage but all are equal legally.

The simple solution is this - eliminate marriage as a legal concept. All people will have the right to a civil union, and those who wish to be "married" can do so in a church. Marriage is, after all, a religious sacrament, and should therefore be taken out of the realm of government. To get the benefits that we now ascribe to marriage, everyone would have to get a civil union. We could, for the sake of expedience, deputize ministers as we do now with marriage but all are equal legally.

I all frankness, I am not even sure of the sources.
But I will say this. My own experience points to much the same trends as the (possibly horribly flawed) studies I have heard referred to.
At least with men, homo and bi-sexuals tend to be well, in psychiatric terms, more pathologigial, ie, they engage in actions more destructive to self and others, they have a tighter time preference (they prefer instant gratification and have less care for long-term consequences) etc.

I'm surprised Jeff didn't touch on childfree couples. He mentioned infertile and eldery couples but not childfree. People forget that a lot. Lots of straight and fertile couples marry but have no plans to have kids. My boyfriend and I are engaged and we're not ever going to have kids, not because we can't, but because we don't want to. But we still have the right to marry.

Sexual preferences aren't any more genetic, or any more of a choice, than musical tastes. You aren't born genetically liking a genre of music. You don't choose the artists you like. You hear the music and either like or dislike it. The same goes for attraction. You don't choose the gender you like. You aren't born liking a certain gender. If a guy sees another guy naked and likes it, well, he likes it and there's nothing he can do about it. Being gay is even less of a choice than being Christian

The fact that this is an issue at all is going to be either hilarious or terribly sad in 50 years. We're going to look back on it just like we look back on the civil rights movement (though it's a much lesser scale). Society is moving one way, and that's towards tolerance. People who try to discriminate and belittle other people are always going to lose. It's all just a matter of time.

In seriousness, you use the word 'natural' without knowing what it really means. Natural derives from the word nature, and nature encompasses EVERYTHING, or everything in the world that is physically possible; so the only unnatural act is that which you can't physically do. Using this, the true definition of the word natural, homosexuality is indeed natural.
If you want to call it perverse or immoral, we can have that discussion, too.

I won't go into the complexities of medicine since I'm not in the position to do so, however I'm aware that alternative medical practices are still highly debated amongst medical practitioners, so acupuncture and other ancient Chinese medicinal practices are probably best to leave out when making arguments for invisible beliefs such as "yin yang" which is just as much an unprovable belief as someone stating they feel there is a god and it's against homosexuality
