  • I loved this video!!! it's very very good...I wanna go to CAMPHILL next year.

  • I'll be there in August!!

  • why should you have to look past their disability why not just accept it mentally challenged people are interesting and nice unlike boring everyday people im attracted to them because they are so nonjudgmental like jesus or god

  • I'm a support worker in a residential in Australia. I get asked the "How do you relate?"question, too. I tell people I'm the same as the guys: I look to like and be liked by others, just like they do. I expect strangers to treat me with courtesy and goodwill, just like they do. And when we're out in public and people stare, I look to the guys to see how to behave and emulate them.

  • When I was 10 I was given the great privilege of working with Downs' syndrome children. They were all about 5. All I can say is that they were angelic. I mean that in a literal sense. Spiritually they were uplifting to be around. They were beacons of light. I don't know a better way to express it. I shall never forget those hours and I am now 53 years old.

  • very good.. thank you for showing the human side, loving side, of people who are developmentally disabled. ♥ much love my grandson Buddy is 10 years old he has rubeinstein tabyi syndrome ..

  • @TheRealFlowerGirl oh dang i feel sorry for your Grandson

  • Thank you it's ok I wouldn't have him any other way, he's the joy of my life. ♥ much love

  • A fantastic vignette. An inspired director has taken us inside the vital lives of people who are usually hidden from the media's view - and he's reminded us that we are all whole, complete, beautiful beings - with all kinds of abilities and disabilities. Thank you!

  • This has touch my heart!

The most wonderful thing that I have seen in a long time.

  • I seen the preview to this on the news after I looked up it p and watched the video. I was so touched by this video. It makes me realize and prove the fact people are capable of anything no matter what someone can see on the outside, by judging you only miss the truth.

  • It WAS sounding soooo amazing until he compared the folks to broken pianos..."defective" I believe, was the word he used.

But I guess the spirit is there....cheers

  • I just watched this on HLN. Congratulations to the director and everone who works with this camp. You guys are doing great!

  • It's great to see that there is a community to help people with disabilities, and to be able to give them something they are able to express themselves. Good Show:)

  • I want my son who is 33 and disabled to live here when I can no longer take care of him......which means when I die.'

Thank you for what you do and for sharing this....God Bless camp hill!!!!

  • 0:15-19

    HAHAHAHAHAHAH SEXY!

    @01:28-30

How old are you? I'M FOORTYY-NIIIINE!!!!

    LOL

  • @WizardOfHumor1989 i dont think this is the place to say these stuff dude...

  • Well ...not to be literal on you or anything, but...I'M NOT THERE! I wasn't there! And they're far away from where I live! So THEY CAN'T HEAR US!

  • I really like the piano analogy at the end of this video. I think often we see people who are different, and we tend to think of them as being inferior when, often, they are superior to us in many ways. I think this type of community is a great idea, and it looks like it's working :).

  • YouTube's Project Report winner Director Arturo Perez Jr. will be featured on "News To Me" this weekend! Look for it Saturday and Sunday 7:30p and 9:30p ET on HLN (formerly CNN Headline News).

  • wow, it inspires me that there is still so much good in the world. luuuuved it! very informing, and good job at all you guys helping with those people.

  • anickel4apickle said it perfectly.

  • this video changed my life.

  • Such an inspiring beautiful video.

  • What a great thing you are doing. Making a home where these people can come together as "one". Giving them the chance to find their talents, and being able to demonstrate them. NOT only to themselves;but, to each other, and to this world. This is really---cool!!!!

  • What an amazing and inspirational story. More like this need to be told. Keep up the great work!

  • Absolutely beautiful! Amazing!

  • Are there any plans to add captioning to this video to reach out to an even wider disability community?

  • This is an amazing video, thank you. The love and help, support its amazing. Thank you for showing us all a little bit about your world. wow amazing.

  • hello

  • This video is very touching. From the message it conveys to the wonderful and beautiful people in it very touching I even got a bit musty eyed.

  • Thats cool theyre all awsome. If your one of the workers looking at this tell them that I think theyre awsome.

  • Man that looks like awesome fun to live in a big home like that if i were disabled

  • that was great

wish i would've known about the contest though

  • i think its good to make people aware of people with special needs in the world.some of the most good natured people i have met are not the highest IQ's by along shot, and if we tried as hard as they do .who know what could happen.

  • Very good video. I have a son with syczophrenia and love to see him in a home like this. Instead of locked up in a hospital with stays of 19 days costing $100,000. That money could go to much better use. It is ashame what society does to people with disabilities. The people who help these people are very, very special people!

  • Neat

  • I'm an occupational therapist and touched to see this video! I only wish there were more places like this in the world for people with special needs! Thanks for making the world a better place! :)

  • Nicely made, I appriciate people who are willing to go and help the disabled like that. So many people are concerned for themselves now a days.

-Techno (I'm not a nerd, I just am impressed with Technology)

  • Beautiful video.

  • RollerBabe2008

    You know, well said...

Dis-abilities come in many different forms.

Many negative/childish posters on this thread have disabilitites it seems. Their disabilities are of the communication/understanding/and etiquette type. All of the 3 above 'Dis-abilities', ideally, could be changed for the better. I hope at least..

    Take care,

    Switters00

  • Thanks for you reply I appreciate people like you who truly get what was said in the video.

  • I am a womman with Cerebral palsy. It is my beleif that all the people who had an ill word to say about this video need to watch it over and over again. it is important to LOOK PAST THE DISABILITY AND AT THE PERSON. fUTHER MORE TO THE PERSON WHO SAID THAT IT IS EASIER TO FOCUS ON OUR CARE TAKERS, With all due respect I would recommend that you go out in your community more because you will see that many people are capable of living a full idepent life.

  • very good video. I enjoyed it

  • I mean, why say thanks to us who voted, I mean, Why would you not?

  • This video is amazing! I am truly inspired by what they are able to contribute.

  • this is awesome people with disabilities living together, working together.

  • This was really touching. The old guy's pretty funny lol. My video isnt as moving as this, but can someone watch it? See my Windows XP Video, < A song made with windows XP Sounds and nothing more :D

  • Great video. Shows how we should treat those who have a developmental disability. Amazing people who work there. Those people who post that those with development disabilities are a waste of space should go f**k themselves, they're the real waste of space.

  • your friends are more dorkish then mine.

  • shut up and what value do you bring forth to society?

you're the pathetic and miserable one.

  • it's awesome... I'm without words...

  • not cool to talk like that, the people on this video are alot further than you on the walk of life.

  • Lol to Harmy and Orange xP But this video really is great, and touching. My video doesnt really have a message, but coudl you watch it? Someone see my Windows XP Vid? ^ A song made with only Windows XP Sounds :D

  • wtfff???

  • orangeskyz, if everyone in the world was like this, we all would've been eaten by lions long ago.

  • lions..lol

  • the idea of working together with what ya got and not against another *watch how happy they are

  • he said worked together like this, not were like this, and i agree with him..

  • At the start I just thought the old guy had a speech problem like he was deaf or something. He still made me laugh though, "Sexy" lol

  • This video really is great. 5/5 of coarse. My video isn't as important nor is it as touching as this one. But could you see my video anyways? It's a song made with only Windows XP Sounds

  • Trolls leave now or lose you tube account

  • I voted for this movie

  • What beautiful lives you've enabled these people to live! Hooray for taking advantage of their abilities.

  • tht has to be the grestest thing to do for ppl like tht!!! ive worked wit ppl with "abilities" they are smart, caring and loving ppl who just enjoy life unlike alot of us!

  • One fundamental question remains; are they taught how to use condoms? cus you know, my aunt also lives in a psychiatric household, and really all they do is copulating, which is understandable, but you don't want them to get pregnant and have offspring.

  • Great job and great people.

  • It's funny how in the beginning of this film we want to turn it off, but as it goes on you find valuable life in these people. Great video.

  • كـــل زق

  • what country you from?

  • That was great. Not even going to lie.

  • Wonderful. :) Thank you for making this.

  • I wasnt planning on watching it all, but i ended up doing so. ^Touching. Could someone see my Windows XP Song i made on my chanel? It's nothing with meaning nor is it important like this vid. :P

  • I spent some time as a co-worker at the Lantern in England. This takes me back!!!

  • Wonderful, I hope I can make films like this some day soon.

  • Fred should be locked in with them

  • that was beautiful. thank you for showing the world how real they are. if not more happier in life and goal orientated. such kindred spirits, if only we could all follow in their foot steps.

  • in short the Fred videos are annoying, dont watch them

  • good job really...

  • So good!Oh,my god!

  • Fred is a channel on the video-sharing website YouTube. The Fred channel is the number one most subscribed with over 740,000 subscribers. The videos are centered around a fictional 6-year-old, Fred Figglehorn, who has a dysfunctional home life and "anger management issues" of his own.[1] Fred is played by Lucas Cruikshank, a 15-year-old from Columbus, Nebraska, United States.

  • the defectet piano metaphor was beautiful. 5/5

  • Many can contribute if they are given the right environment of acceptance and encouragement. If aliens landed here and said ominously "what do you have to show for yourselves as human beings?" I would certainly want to point this camp out to them. These people have hope in their lives and it's generously given. I'm proud of all of them.

  • good job

  • very touching

  • sexy lol

  • God bless all of you! What a beautiful, caring community of people helping eachother and living together! That was inspirational!

  • Yeah...especially his little speech about the pianist and how you look through the defected instrument

  • This competition was about telling stories that would not have been told. Don't be offend but aggorance like yours exist, so that why it was told.

  • looking at some of these comments.. i see that some people just dont get it..

  • Most autistic people do not look alike. I suspect you're thinking of people with Down's syndrome, who do look alike, becaise they have slanted eyes, short necks, enlargued tongues, big round heads etc.

  • zgf

  • I think these people with special needs are our little angels on earth, far more closer to god than we are. We could learn a lot from them.

    Thanks to all Camphill Communities.

  • sexy LOL

  • I like how all of these different people live together and sustain themselves, and some of the comments below are really disgusting and disheartening

  • no kidding. almost makes me wish they had to live with something like this. *ALMOST*

    Just stupid little kids probably.

  • This fact remains: These residence will forever be dependent on real "ability" to survive.

I'd rather focus on the people who make their lives possible.

  • We all rely on others for survival. The strong help the weak. We are all weak at one point of another. I this this is a great clip, and it is a shame to see the point wasted.

  • i luv how they called ablities, normal people dont, no, we just do

  • When ever I start to lose hope in humanity I'll watch this video. Thank you.

  • we should send our world leaders there so they can learn a "disability" or two because that's how our world should be.

    thank you for the lift

  • That is really awesome.

  • What a beautiful video.

  • Great piece

  • awesome

  • This is beautiful.

  • simply good

  • heyy

  • Those racist comments are not comical or appropriate. I hope you can keep your superiority feelings to yourself, or learn to change them. You are a lesser person then black people and the rest of us because you choose to make those comments. It is epically disgraceful on a video like this that displays the life of the mentally disabled.

  • wow! ;)

  • rofl ;D nice..

  • It's hard sometimes to work with others who are affected by Fragile X or other DD disorders. Awesome job on bringing awareness to everyone and for doing such a great job with the rest of the Camphill residents :)

  • what the fuck is the matter with u dude?

    racist asshole.

  • joshuus a homo

  • that was touching

  • It's like mine... The video priceless, lol

    I like it

  • This is such a good video that deserves WAY more views than it has.

  • AMEN, this makes me smile to see how happy these gifted people are.

  • Beautiful.

  • Sexy, indeed. Well, this isn't exploitation.

  • Hey they look very happy to me which is great keep up the good work

  • great and Inspirational work, it shows me that life is full of opportunities and beauty

  • Inspirational is the only word that comes to mind.

  • you don't like how you looked in it or what?

  • i would love to go their and volunteer i love helping people with "abilities"

  • This was a great video with a fantastic message. +1

  • no man thinks more higly then i do the patriotism, as well as abilities, of the every worthly gentlemen

  • moonmakerz..you are a moran worse than the people in this 5 minute clip. You are a big time loser and you suck big time.

  • aggietamu36 your a really sad person my friend. for one this isnt supposed to be professionally made, its got its own style, however, people like you(i dont know why) care to hate for no reason. I'd like to see someone give a rats ass about you if you were disabled.

  • I really enjoyed this. Honestly. Good people.

  • Through Kiwanis there is a community service organization that people with developmental disabilities can form and feel important in their communities. Go to Kiwanis Intl. on the internet and see if this would be something you would like to do. Every year our Kiwanis club along with our "Builders Club" at the elementary school, sponsors a fishing derby for the developmentally disabled kids in the Daniel Bright Elementary school in Cottowood, AZ, great success and interaction of regular kids.

  • That made me happy. :)
