  • The best way is to know how much you want to spend and firstly buy what you necessarily need

  • Humans are notorious for watching and repeating said behavior. When you add that to messages intended for the subconsious mind we are sitting ducks for intrusion.

  • They couldn't keep up with me, I look at everything in my feild of vision.

  • Actully its easy to resisit

    1) You make a budget and stick with it no matter what.

    2) Just so you know fruits and vegetables are the less fresh products in a supermarket so find a market of fruits and vegetables ONLY

3)Check the deals through internet and then check what you REALLY need

    4)Make a Food Storage!!!!

    5) COMPARE PRICES!!!! aka BUY FROM OTHER STORES AS WELL

    6) You don't have to take a young child along on super market shopping trip!!!

    7) Take no more than 15-20 euros need vs want

  • I bet these types of studies are the most accurate and free of bias because they involve making MONEY! Thus, when someone vehemently disagrees with this, I think their FOS! At least if they think they are completely unaffected.

  • I love this stuff

hoping to get a phd in psychology :)

im 17 now senior year .. i wanna manipulate peoples minds using priming and influencing :D

  • @MindManipulator93 psychology is a helping profession, you will get spotted and eliminated from before you get anywhere near applying for graduate work if you keep up that socio -pathic attitude.

  • @transduct1on sadly he is like most psychologists most don't care about help they care about money, iam in the same field i have seen it

  • On the back of a little display box of strepsil throat sweets in the supermarket the other day, I noticed it said 'place in impulse buy locations, such as at the checkout'

  • and as a word of advice don't go shopping in a walmart out of town you'll get lost and instead of coming out with just bread you'll come out with a garden hose diapers spray cheese and no bread

  • that's why the bread and milk are in the back of the store cuz you have to find them you'll get lost and buy stuff I'm serious

  • Higher prices are at eye level. I worked at a grocery store for 4 years.

  • i work at a grocery store...every ounce of this video is correct...baby food is furthest from the entrance at my store.

  • I must be doing something right. I always shop with a list and I go up and down every isle not around the outside.

  • marketers are evil?,or is it just that it plays on our already built in evils. The media especially tabloids like to distort the truth and destroy individuals but "innocent" people pick them up and read em and fuel it,because they get a thrill out of it,whether they are consciously aware of it or not.

  • Hmm, I guess the marketing drones see this kind of show as a threat.

    interesting.

  • interesting video, don't like the way that 'methods' are coined as 'tricks' though. not all marketers are evil

  • they also but sweets lower for kids to be able to see it so they show it to the parents and say buy this buy this.

  • @okpapereat Yeah advertisers have also employed psychologists to determine different types of nagging in children. They then tailor their marketing to illicit the type of nagging most likely to get the parent to purchase the item.

  • ok i get it now , thats cool and true !!! i am only watching this because i have homework on it !!!!

  • Umm. let's see.... Eat before you shop!!!!

  • No, I don't do that, I go hungry. That way I won't forget to pick up the food I need.

Our supermarkets are fabulous. People take them for granted here.

    AMERICA FUCK YEAH

  • I don't shop when I'm hungry; shopping makes me hungry. :( Now how do I avoid THAT?

  • Oh yeah, this reminds me...the color yellow makes people hungry when they see it! So that's how McDonalds, Wendy's, BK, and so many other people sort of catch people's attention. not to mention the color red! :) psychology rules!

  • so marketers are evil... and the general public are suckers.. this video is depressing!

  • @dreambrother37 the truth often is

  • @dreambrother37 ofcourse they're not!

  • They also put goods that complement each other together like pasta's and sauces as people realise buying one they may need the other also used with discounts where u stock up on both goods coz one is cheaper with the store profiting on the other.

  • Wow, what a scam. NO ONE eats pasta with sauce.

I would think that keeping the sauces separate would be better - that way, people have to travel thru the store to get the sauce, and may see other impulse items on the way.

  • If I am going into the supermarket with the intention of buying something and I get it, I might not think of the good that complements it over in the other isle and not shop around for it at all (beta mindstate). Getting me to think about using the goods post purchase however is much more likely to get me to purchase more and shop longer than rushing through trying to fulfill planned purchases as it lulls you towards a low alpha mindstate where you lose track of things like time.

  • there also are "traffic making" products such as sugar and flour: commodity goods are usually scattered so they force you to walk through the aisles increasing the possibility of picking up something you didn't plan for. That's why sometimes you get the impression some things are put in weird places, like, "why on earth did they put sugar here" :)

  • Sugar and flour are in the "baking needs" section usually.

  • they also puts treats and sweets down near the bottem kids can see it perfectly to atrack there eyes

  • @okpapereat I was just about to say that. before i even watched the video.

  • best episode of this show :)
