Yeah, there some scientific things wrong with that statement. It is not the Atmosphere that protects us from Asteroids but Jupiters large Magnetic field. Cosmic Radiation bombards the Earth all the time, but there so little of it it doesn't pose a threat. And a Gamma Ray burst would wipe away the Earth's atmosphere. There are many factors that keep the earth safe. It's atmosphere would be one I would least likely depend on as a last resort.

Hmm, it says, "We made the sky a preserved and protected roof yet still they turn away from Our Signs.." in the translation given in the video.

Firstly, should that rather say "protective" and not "protected"? The latter would mean the roof was protected, and the former would mean whatever was under the roof was protected. "Protected" makes sense with regards to the earth's magnetic field shielding the atmosphere. But the atmosphere's "protective" side was emphasized here.

An atmosphere in this context is defined basically as "The gaseous mass or envelope surrounding a celestial body, especially the one surrounding the earth."

Can the word equally mean "heavens" or "universe"?

Also, is there any particular reason that the word "signs" is capitalized in the translation given in the video?

The translation came from Arabic, so if you are an Arabic scholar then you can bring a translation from your head, if not you should learn to shut your mouth a know that there are professional translators who did their job. taken in context, it does mean a lot. the fact that a man in arabia over 14 centuries brought verses about things he wasn't even remotely familiar with ie the sky a protected roof, or heaven and the earth having a common origin, or the microscopic stages of embryological development in the womb, or how mountains act likes pegs in the earth; depths of the ocean complete darkness; internal waves within the ocean, the mosquito that bites is female not male.. the list goes on and on.

and to a certain extent, interpretation plays a factor, but not when the list goes on and on and not one verse is in disagreement w/ modern scientific knowledge which is sound, because science is always refining itself. the odds that an illiterate man in 7th century arabian peninsula would get each of these references right become slimmer and slimmer with each reference. at a certain point, one has to concede that we muslims aren't being delusional when we cite science in our holy book.

This is why we have the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad PBUH which helps us put in practise what GOD revealed to us.

Also Qur'an is not only for Arabs. Only 18% of Muslims are Arabs. Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey and many non-Arab countries are Muslim. Qur'an says it is for all human-kind. and Prophet Muhammad is a universal prophet.

Qur'an is also the only holy book on the earth that has only ONE version in it's original language. also Arabic never died, Qur'anic Arabic is still used this day.

it sure is not that vague for all the scientists who examined it and confirmed its validity scientific-wise. many of them became Muslims, some didnt because after all according to the Qur'an there is no compulsion in religion. Do not forget that any attempt to translate the Qur'an from Arabic to any other language is not a perfect one. For people that know Arabic very well: it is clear as light.
