  • its a murray and its in a hurray

  • It,s a murray and its in a hurray

  • ive got a 5" pulley on the front and a 2" on the back and mine will go about 45mph

  • fast mowers r osum tho i hate the rule for billet allum flywheels otherwise id have my 20hp ohv in my scotts instead of its crafsman 10hp in head valve and 2 to 1 ratio giving me about 30mph

  • What battery size is on and what size fuse you use

  • im thinkin about doin this. btw good vid and love the bowtie on the front. chevys rule man!!

  • Dude, that wire is WAY too small to use on your starter. You should replace that with a thicker wire, like the one coming from the battery.

  • what a nerdburger

  • I really want to build one of these and race. Ive got plenty of tractors to choose from but I have 2 big concerns. #1 how will the transmission hold up and #2 the thought of doing 50 on a lawn mower makes me nervous. What would happen if a tire fell off. Ouch! Please reply to this comment thanks!

  • @LegoLawnmowerguy its safe if you know how to drive it.. dont just finish it and start doing 50.. start out slow and go up so you get the hang of it and if you can lower the front as much as possible.. it helps

  • So, you've had this for a while. How has the trans held up with this gear ratio?

  • crappy music

  • I am making one with 9 "and 3"

  • is that a one speed transaxle?

  • ive got the same murray planning to let it go faster to , they rock :)

  • I've got a Murray like this. I put a 2 inch pulley on the back and got a smaller belt, now it goes 20.

  • hey man i am in the build procces right now and was wondering what else you did to speed up the mower besides the pulley ratio

  • I liked your pic of the blown fuses I've been there done that.

  • is there a gov. on that?

  • is the transfer case still in one piece?

  • Bad, bad, bad video editing. Still photos and titles last toooo long.

  • u drug out a stupid video with terrible music... f u

  • i did the same thing to my steering arm everytime i would go over a bump the bitch would fall off so i drilled a hole in er and bolted er down works good

  • @xman22dis did it just have a cotter pin in it before? im thinking about maybe making one of these but im not sure what all i should do to the steering.

  • i got a similar tractor, and im wondering what size your pulleys are.

may i have all the dimentions.

where did you buy them, do you know any websides where they sell those pulleys?

  • Hey thats a hella fast mower there thats got the 12.5 hp briggs right? I have the same mower here at my place Im building into a go-kart \ rock crawler.

I did away with the 12 hp brigs and put on a 15.5 hp kohler. Um mind me asking you where you got the 1 in pully for the trans axle?

  • Ebay for the 1 in. and strupp imp. for the big one.@SuperShane41

  • woo chevy symbol on front!!!!!!!!

  • ya that was on there when i bought it. now its a ford but i blue the tranny@ridinhonda4life

  • @lancesmit you "blue" the tranny? i guess you could paint them

  • Or anyone that would be able to help. {add on to my other comment}

  • Hi. I bought a murray mower thats very similar to urs. I want to make one like urs but i have no idea where to start. Would you be able to help me out? If you could send me a reply asap that would be great! I like the video by the way!

  • @theblackcats727 first thing to do is put a 3 inch pulley on the tranny i did it to mine and got maybe 20mph outta it

  • @theboredredneck ok thanks. ill try it

  • nice stack i have a dynamark mower with 12hp briggs and a 1 inch on back and a 5 on front my top speed is 50 i also have a spicer tranny to they are pretty dependable but all together nice mower

  • @300exrider81 how do you tighten up the steering? i tightened everything on mine, every tie road end the tires dont wobble but my tractor still wanders when im goin down the road and if i make mine go 50mph itl flip

  • @theboredredneck yeah mine dose it too but its just speed wabblies ha

  • Comment removed

  • i have the same kind of murray but with a synchro-balanced 11hp. i have similar sized pulleys and if i run turbo blue racing fuel in it it can go about 55. i also mounted whelie bars because the front end is always lifting off of the ground.

  • How do you change the gear ratio?

  • when u fix up the lawn mowers like this r they good on gas or not

  • @danboy1993 usually people keep the engine stock unless they are racing hardcore and spends thousands to get it racing built

  • I am building one right now, i have a murray/huskee. I've just got one question, how did you keep the front tires from moving side to side? mine is the same model as what you have but there is no spindles that lock, only a cotter pin holds the tires on...i need to make this pretty tight or i have a feeling its gonna wear pretty bad. also, why did you change the steering rod?

  • i have a murray just like that except mines a five speed 820 pearless, i heard the 820's are the best racin trannys, nice stack mines identical 2",

  • Pretty cool, you running gear oil in the tranny?

  • I have a murray thats a little newer than yours with a 12.5 hp powerbuilt b&s. i removed the mower deck and all that shit what do i need to do to the motor other than changin yhe pulley to top out the speed+i need it to be as cheap as possible $50 or less. Any i deas man?

  • @RednckCrazE I didn't do anything to the motor it is all stock. i locked the trans axle and gave her a 9 to 1 gear ratio!!! and added lots of lights and gadgets!!!! but when it was given to me for my birthday by my parents they had a professional built 12 hp b&s racing motor bored out to a 20 hp power built racing motor ready for me when i was to enter the uslmra. but the motor in the video is an all stock bran new 12 hp b&s power built!!!!

  • @lancesmit How would lock the trans?

  • I bought a similar lawnmower for $50, it runs and i want to make it go as fast as possible while investing little to no money into it. how big are the pulleys you put in that go from the engine to the rear axle?

  • @DizzlemcFIZZ Nine on the motor and a 1" on the transaxle

  • @DizzlemcFIZZ Dont listen to Lancemit, if you run that small of a pulley on your transaxle, your not going to get any belt grip. on my mower i run a 6" pulley on the engine and a 3.5" adjustable pulley on the rear, with my 20HP V-Twin Kohler, i top out about 50, with enough torque to spin the tires in top gear. make sure you take safety in consideration first before making the mower faster also.

  • @JacknifeCreations I use 1" on every racin progect, i've burnt alot of belts to haha, if you mount to idler pullys on the out side of the belt a little under a inch apart right in front of the tranny pulley it should make the belt grab better, it makes the belt rap around the pulley better,

  • @yam225f Yea, using a 1" pulley is NOT good, no matter what. The minimum should be 3". No offence, but you need to learn how to spell...it's "too", and "two" and "outside" and "an inch" and "wrap" not "rap". Also, whats with the comma at the end of your comment? i know people make mistakes when typing fast, but come on!

  • whats the 2nd song

  • @openshot What was i thinkin'

  • would you list all mods that you did to the lawn mower.

  • @TheTate22 plz reply

  • @TheTate22 racing carb, steering, trany lock, gear ratio, stright pipe, new better belt, light trany work, not much more except alot of gadgets like jet swiches, air horns, gadges, and more electronics work.

  • @lancesmit wat size gear ratio do u have

  • @TheTate22 9 to 1

  • @lancesmit its not 9 to 1 just because your running a 9" in the front to a 1" on the tranny, your ratio depends on how many turns the engine makes compared to the rear wheels.

  • i have basicaly the same mower, is ur steering a little slopy cuz mine is and i dont kno how to fix it, plz reply becuase its kind of scary when ur going like 35mph on a mower with slopy steering

  • @1992jal Ya i can help you, there is a bolt and nut at the steering wheel and one at the gear. you take the bolt at the steering wheel out and dill a hole up two sizes and get a bolt that just fits in the new hole and tap it in and put a lock nut on it. Do the same down at the gear.

  • Just wondering, did your Murray come with a vari-speed drive pulley system originally? I'm working on an older MTD that has "shift-on-the-go" as well and I was told I'd have to fabricate a different clutch set up to eliminate it.

  • @automan29 I would think that the clutch you have will work fine, but if you are still conserned send me the model number and i will make sure that it will work.

  • happy late birthday lol i used a 4inch on the motor and a 2 on the tranny so i have some speed and yet still have enough power to pull me up hills and threw our pasture lol but i used a craftsman copy cat frame

  • @MXguy95 how fast do you go?

  • @MXguy95 i have the same set up how fast u go?

  • @skatabeast13 just over 70 mph

  • @lancesmit your getting 70 mph out of a 12 hp?

  • @CAMOTRUCKN Ya, aqnd i am thinkin' about going down to 40 on this one and make her a gadgeted up tractor.

  • @lancesmit wow thats fast. you must have some engine mods huh? or at least a bypassed gov?

  • Nice mower.......im working on the same one and what pulley size did you use on the engine? thanks

  • Hey, I used a 8" on the engine and a 2" on the trany.

  • Nice....,I just got done building a murray too, with a briggs 12.5 I/C.

  • cool...... you got a video or some pics
