same sad story here.. as killzone 2 2005 trailer is not overtaken by actual games.. This graphic is not in real time and directX11 never give us that graphics. Maybe with DX12
@aldoskyz8 Mind explaining what the graphics are rendered in if not dx11? Unless you're talking about real-time rendering, then you have no idea what you're talking about.
This demo can be done with directX11 but you will not see any videogame with this graphic until the directX 12. As I wrote before, the same story of KillZOne2 from 2005.

@aldoskyz8 Killzone 2 ended up looking better than it's 2005 demo showed. And the way you responded to my comment seems to confirm that you're pretty clueless.
@7VECRO Maybe in like 12 years, xbox or playstation will never have graphics as good as this any time soon, unless they sell it for like 30 thousand dollars lol
@over100mbps I don't know about that, the speed at which graphics are getting better is astonishing. When the Xbox 360 came out the graphics it had were far better than anything that'd been released 'till then. Plus considering they won't use brand name parts, just things they make themselves will mean lower production cost. I think it'll be something close to this at least. But we can agree to disagree.
Definately 5 years off. Tech is kinda slowing down. All good ideas, they need to go back to DX9 and speed it up! Tessealtion isnt even used well yet. Crysis 2 has it, and it DESTROYS the FPS. Even on a GTX 590! No point in thisstuff, make what we have run better and faster!
@BuckFastZombie yeah but the GPU technology development is accelerating faster than the CPU development currently I think, and with things like stream processors and CUDA cores becoming more advanced weird things are possible!
what the F does this have to do with direct X 11? At the end of the video it says THQ 2008. DX 11 wasn't out in 2008 numbtard... I wiki'd thq know what they were doing in 2008???? here is the quote...
In March 2008, THQ announced they were to develop the world's first ever cheerleading game using the Wii Balance Board.[5]
On November 3, 2008, the company closed five of its internal studios.[6]
Really? a cheerleeding game for the Wii??? Jesus H Christ you say they were doing DX11? Please
@ramiBudemaris yes this is a realitme simulation. They make things like these usally as ultra-high end benchmarks. Only PCs are capable of having real-time look so good that people call it rendered. Also, PCs render real-time so technically its both.
@ramiBudemaris do you play on console? You should look up some PC 3Dmark benchmarks. All of them are real time. However its not like a game, its meant to test the most powerful graphics to burn even th emost powerful of technology. BTW Dx11 has nothing to do with video so obviously this isnt rendered. Do you know how real-time DX11 rendering works and how technology works ?
@4232267 if you know current pc tech this is no way realtime.. its obviously prerendered the models and lighting is far to advanced to be produced on a current computer in realtime i bet this rendered at like 0.005fps or something tbh
@MrDobing one point it was real-time so they could make it using a workstation video card, meaning its frame-by-frame rendering. that maing it real-time. Now with it being on youtube on the other hand makes it streamed at 32 FPS. of course its not real-time on here because we would all be getting 1-2 FPS.
@ramiBudemaris : It is real-time, but scripted, so the engine is able to render ahead. In-game, this level of graphical goodness would be more difficult to deliver reliably only because the player's actions are not predictable and the engine must maintain rendering 'in the moment'. This is why benchmarks look so sexy - the camera follows a pre-set path, and the performance aspect can be tuned according to that path. :)
@ramiBudemaris : A frame or two ahead of the current one can be rendered - essentially 'faster than real time', but not pre-rendered (it is being CURRENTLY rendered, and is not simply a video of a previous, 'slower than real-time' rendering). If your machine exceeds the performance required to achieve real-time rendering, it can render faster than real-time. Getting 120 FPS out of a game on a 75Hz monitor, for instance, is a good example.
@ramiBudemaris : Pre-rendered is a good description of a computer-animated movie. 'Rendering ahead' is what your graphics card does when you're capable of rendering frames faster than the monitor's refresh rate; you sacrifice a little control response for smoother frame-rates... theoretically... though it usually doesn't work out that way - I never set my render-ahead to anything higher than 1 (the default is usually 3). Higher is better for scripted cut scenes though (no control issues).
@jony1710 : Except that 'pre-rendered' is ambiguous in reference to CGI, specifically when attempting to differentiate between pre-rendered full-motion video CGI animation (compare to 'pre-recorded') and the pre-emptive rendering of live CGI on a frame-by-frame basis. Otherwise, yes; well done. :)
Unfortunately this isn't DirectX 11. I completely agree. It's actually a video with DirectX 11 pre-rendered and stuff like that. DirectX 11 is the graphics card.
This can be real time with no problem.Except the quality of light effects.Smoke with shadows, inner shadows and colour bleeding, wtf, if you want to fake as real time you don't do that.
We could realistically have this if it weren't for consoles. It makes me smile and feel a bit excited like when I was a young boy playing MOHAA for the first time, Normandy Beach. That "WHOAHHHHHHH!!" feeling, but then I remember those consoles..
If graphics cards continue to evolve like that, by 2018 (ps5 release date, if the current 6-year-cycle remains) we might finally be approaching photorealism for good. Dunno what will happen to ATI and NVIDIA though... Maybe hyperrealism? Where you take reality and make it even more beautiful and shiny by adding pixar-like shader effects? Dunno...
I wonder if they can use the DirectX 11 and the cell cpu to recreate my balls in 3D with high textures and show them bouncing up and down and while running it in 1080p on the ps3.......
@ismakami but in this case the nuke is not set off regularly, using the Pinch(emp generator)... its set off using 2 missiles, so no emp pulse to take out the jet!
on the other hand i highly doubt that an attack like that would even make the nuke go off... it might cripple the delivery system(rocket)...
Anything can be done in this kind of animation, rendered over ages. The point of DX is to make it look good in real time. This is a pointless video, and could be done ten years ago (in theory) with a lot of time.

In some of the Vue 7 or 8 promotional vids, they actually show some clips from this exact movie.
Besides whatever this is as a game or demonstration I find it hilarious how every attack is ridiculously risky to the plane/pilot doing the attack.....
Why drop bombs from a high altitude onto a bridge when you can fire short range missiles at it and fly under it as it is collapsing!!!! HELLLZ YEAH
@CaptainOats124 28(more???) thumbs up that you jizzed because of a animated mushroom cloud?!kinda weird, no?! my immediate thought at reading your post was more like "EH? why would anybody want to know that?!"........P.S. i know its a figure of speech-its just one that i think is kinda screwy... and i mean nothing negative by anything i have said! just thinking in type
In about 5 years, this is supposedly to be the norm realtime standard visuals. i think its safe to say that at that point, you really WONT need to upgrade any further. i mean.. once things look actually real, what would you need to upgrade again for? I guess maybe a large ram base to hold and render more polygons at once, but the processing power will be pretty much completed.. ya think?
Why cant we do cool shit like in the the video games that are supposed to feel like real flying. I mean i cant do a quick brake and shoot my enemy in the arse. Man i hate the lame ass physics engines in the games (since ain´t it the air that thrwos the planes backwards when the pilot breaks and then ignites?)
@mmm4466 graphics 5-10 years max physics i dont exactly know cause it take alot of power to push a plane if not 20 to more to be that realistic in flight for a game unless your really good with controls :)

In about 5 years, this is supposedly to be the norm realtime standard visuals. i think its safe to say that at that point, you really WONT need to upgrade any further. i mean.. once things look actually real, what would you need to upgrade again for? I guess maybe a large ram base to hold and render more polygons at once, but the processing power will be pretty much completed.. ya think?
Ravalat 1 year ago
@Ravalat nope sry but it wont take 5 years
you wont have real time raytracing and i mean the real deal
ray tracing everything in real time
and you wont have particle simulations of more than on million
in 5 years

Why cant we do cool shit like in the the video games that are supposed to feel like real flying. I mean i cant do a quick brake and shoot my enemy in the arse. Man i hate the lame ass physics engines in the games (since ain´t it the air that thrwos the planes backwards when the pilot breaks and then ignites?)

When can we reasonably expect graphics and animation like this in games?
mmm4466 1 year ago
@mmm4466 graphics 5-10 years max physics i dont exactly know cause it take alot of power to push a plane if not 20 to more to be that realistic in flight for a game unless your really good with controls :)
MrDjmcloud 1 year ago
@MrDjmcloud haha go figure, games will probably never get this good

Zyziz 1 year ago
@Zyziz
If this was CGI,Why would they put in "DirectX11" on the Title?,DirectX11 is for Real-time Gameplay.
So,It's Highly Likely this is Real-Time.
wariofan279 1 year ago
Realtime UK Often Makes CGI for video Games. Google It - Sorry bro.
Zyziz 1 year ago
@Zyziz
This is not CGI,Why would they have "DirectX11" in the Title?.
DirectX11 is for Real-Time Games,Not CGI,So this is Clearly Real-Time.
