how do you know when it is the proper time to support a character? i've done it so many times (attempted to find out cuz i look at the support/compatability thingy before a battle and when i go next to a character, nothing that says support shows up. i get so confused

they have to spend alot of time next to each other (I think performing actions (fighting/healing) while next to each other helps to)
