  • Is this a version of Edden Hammons Big Hoedown?

  • jry

  • Lord! This is great music! You have to be politician not to like this. And yes that was a dig on those rock sliders. Oh..and I think I'm in love with that gal on the right.

  • My ass has been kicked, my name taken.

  • Old-Timey fiddling is simply the best. It has so much energy and soul in it. That's why I'm posting lessons featuring Appalachian style fiddling on my channel. I just did one on Candy Girl. The sheet music is at my website too, FiddlinMike. com. Maybe I should do this tune....Great fiddling

  • awesome. i wish i could hear more of this on mainstream radio. so much better than anything on mtv. true talent!

  • More please...

  • Im proud to be born from the birthplace of great mountain music!!

  • "ONE MOAR!!!"

  • Wonderful music!

  • Yo the stomping in this is sick.

  • real american music! god bless the appalacian region

  • Excellent !! J'aime la musique oldtime l'essence même de l'amerique pour moi...

  • I love this!! You guys are great!!

  • Great tune!

I heard this played at American Banjo Camp 2009, it's called Roscoe's Gone.

  • Not sure of the song name or if they have recorded it - but the fiddler player is Pharis Ramero for sure (isn't she awesome??) I am pretty sure the banjo player is Jason Ramero - Pharis's husband - I think they played in a band called Outlaw social and they now have a band called "The Haints"

  • Hi! Yes, it's Pharis on fiddle but the banjo player is not her hubby Jason, it's Outlaw Social bandmate Oliver Swain. Pharis, Jason and Erynn (Marshall) are "The Haints", an awesome old-time band, everyone should buy their CD "Shout Mona", nominated for a 2009 Canadian Folk Music Award (as was ours "Relative Minors").

  • What is this called and what is the tuning for the banjo? I'm thinking D but I'm not sure.

  • Is there anywhere you can find a sound recording of this song? Does it have a title?

  • truly a joy to watch and listen to - gives one hope that some people are normal on this planet!

  • lovely

  • When you cant find a babysitter might as well take him/her to the gig. Especially when you play good old time music.

  • Toe tapping music for sure..I love it. They looked like they were having fun playing it as well.

  • WOW WEE<i am goin to learn this tune for SURE!!<my god, this was just grand, great feeling's,,the OLD way,the way it should be.what is the NAME of the song???would love to hear a ton more of you guys,,great speed,,truly god given gift's you all have..

  • Fantastic! Your energy and feeling for the music reminds me somewhat of the Carolina Chocolate Drops. Also Uncle Earl. But let's not make invidious comparisons. Let me know when you put out a CD!!! PS: I'm guessing the baby is going to grow up to be a musician.

  • love it,whats the name of this song???

  • Who's the band? They done good on Roscoe. The Poison Coyote Kid thanks them.

  • Great tune!

  • Please, what is the name of this band? Thanks

  • Outlaw Social.

    Gretsch'n

  • I was not born and raised around this music. But the first time I heard it (on my trips around America), I fell in LOVE with it.!!!

  • like drift'n back in time to the root's of america's ansestory music.when folk's would gather'round pour out the hardships of hard times and sorrows, and exchange stories and food, and no one would leave hungry!!!!

  • This is dope!

  • Your right,that was a toe tapper.Nice tune!

  • la vostra musica è meravigliosa.

  • Fabulous ! This group have a superb understanding amongst each other when they play. I love that fiddler and her footstomp beat. This is high quality modern-day old-timey music at its best !

  • I was born and raised around this music and wouldn't trade a minute of it!

  • Somebody please explain to me why this music isn't the most popular on US commercial radio?! It seems to me this is real american music, not the trash they feed listeners 24/7

  • @szatmar666 , it doesnt only SEEM to you, it IS! americans have been ROBBED of their heritage criminally and the REAL heroes of our days are not the glenn becks but THESE young musicians who reclaim THEIR ancestors fantastic spirit again!!!! this is the real revolotionary act! forget the media! they are too arrogant and stupid to even KNOW that music such as this exists. what matters is that it is being PLAYED.

  • @szatmar666 it is because most people in this country have lost the part of their soul that feels.

  • This is such a great group! This song makes you want to tap your foot so hard that you'll break all of your toes. :-D

  • @DarknessHowls Yea the lady is tapping her foot hard enough for everyone.

  • I love it, and the foot stomping. It sounds like a war drum.

  • Thank you for posting. That was simply foot stomping!!!

  • I've been a cajun music fan for years, and heard Old Time for the first time last year at Chicot Park in April. It was played by Dirk Powell and a group of other musicians, and just blew me away. I LOVED this video. Anyone who can listen to it without tapping their feet and smiling must be dead!

  • Great sound.. How can you not stomp your feet right along with them!

  • The banjo player says right before they start, "it's a tribute to one of the great old-time musicians.. it's called Roscoe's Gone." It's a tune written by a California fiddler, Hank Bradley, for Roscoe Holcomb. It's a great tune!

  • What's the tune?

  • This is really good

  • great but sometimes the foot stomping overpowers the tune

  • Great tune ! What is the title ??

  • What's this piece entitled? J&J

  • this is the kind of tune that can take me into an alternate state of mind, esp. if I am playing it non-stop on fiddle and stomping my foot like this fiddler. Nirvana! Reminds me of some great music played sponteanously in parking lots of old-time & bluegrass music festivals in Virginia & W. Virginia, or of other fiddle parties in the 1960s & 70s...

    Ted Green

  • Authentic!

  • Authentic!

  • Excellent.

  • Nice Job!

  • EXCELLENT!! Great stuff. What song is that? I know I've heard it but can't think of the name. Anyway... masterfully played, great talent!

  • Yes, that's great music!

    Any more?
