@hunterjumper114777 cool life. so I'm spoiled because I've gone to an A show? You sound like a jealous bitch. Not everyone who goes to A shows get money handed to them...
i used to work at an a circuit farm and THOSE girls were spoiled - they had the best of everything and their parents paid for all of it. i liked coming home from work & riding my horse -who i had to pay for bymyself- amd feeling really humble and good about myself that im not like those girls and that im learning a lesson that hard work really does pay off.
same! i rescued my horse from a animal hoader for ONE DOLLAR.
i am a freshamn in high school. have my own buisness of babysitting, tudoring, pet sitting, and refereeing soccer games. i hate how rich bitch parents buy there snobs there half a million dollar horses, which they treat like shit.
@XXpassion4puzzleXX Hey, keep in mind they don't jump bank as much as cross country riders. And why do they need to, as they are hunter/eq? Both events are challenging in different ways. :)
yea were def not spoiled..although i wish i was... ive been working hard for so long and have been riding for 12 years and still dont have my own horse:(
I hate when people put other people down for not being able to afford nice horses, but I also don't think its fair when people automaticly assume that just because someone has a really expensive horse that they're spoiled brats.
@sassyshela Me too! just because you can't afford a 500,000 dollar horse doesn't mean your a loser and just because you can doesn't mean your spoiled. sure, some riders buy their way, but most of us work our butts off. these girls/guy have worked SUPER hard to get where they are. bravo to them
I know almost everyone has said this a people are probably tired of hearing it but not all horse riders are spoiled... TRUST ME ON THIS ONE. I have been riding horses since i was 6 and i am most deff. NOT spoiled, it took me until this past spring to even get my own horse and i've been riding for 10 years... I had to buy my horse ON MY OWN and i have to pay my board ON MY OWN... so don't go around saying that all horseback riders are spoiled... we ALL work had for what we have
@xoSTIXox same i have been taking lessons since i was 5 but i thank my brother for introducing me to horseback riding and i am very thankful for everything i have
@dreamershavemorefun yeahh... thats how most people are, I liked horses my whole life and my gram paid for my first set of lessons for my birthday when i was 6 and i feel in love with it... I dont take lessons anymore cause it's gotten too expensive but i still ride every chance i get... it just becomes a part of your after a while
@xoSTIXox how were you able to buy your own horse? I've been wanting to for YEARS and get so discouraged because my dad will not support me or help me out. Staying back at the barn while everyone goes to shows with theire own horses made me so upset. I'd like to know how you did it!?
@Kris10Beauty It took a while, I actually did stalls and stuff at a different barn to save up enough money, and i got an ex-racer for kinda cheap, then just re-trained her by working with her for 2 hours, 3 times a week, and to pay for board I ended up working for the barn i boarded at AND the other barn so i could pay the reduced board... I actually ended up having to sell her because i moved and couldnt get to the barn as often... but i'm working on saving up for a horse again.
@elizabethsbiggestfan not being able to jump a bank does not, under any circumstances, make a rider spoiled. Hunter and equitation riders aren't used to jumping banks. Not to mention, the horses may never have seen a bank before, let alone jumped one. Additionally, I've been riding and showing in the hunters my whole life. I've had concussions, slipped discs, broken vertebrae, and countless falls. I've had to fight my fears and my injuries for what I love. Don't you dare call hunters spoiled.
HAMPTON CLASSIC! I've been there so many times including last year (07). It's very nice there, and they were right, it is a bit over the top. But 'tis so fun!
Mmmm based on the height and types of jumps used in the class and the fact that several horses in it did not have their manes braided, its probably a jumper class, not an equitation class.
Yea if it was an equitation class it was proably the USET Talent Search because that is an equitation class but the riders ride a jumper course and they have water and banks.
@showjumppony what does that even mean..? high level equitation classes aren't as particular when it comes to tack. Yes, there are certain rules as to what bits, spurs, etc. are allowed at the shows, but figure eight bridles are perfectly acceptable. also, if you're going to critique you might want to learn how to spell, dear. "liers" is actually spelled "liars". If you're trying to criticize, you should spell correctly. Then maybe you'll be taken a little more seriously.
I think it was edited to make it seem that way. There was a LOT of editing going on, to make certain people appear to fit more into a stereotype. For example, Lindsay "the farm girl" was mentioned as only having one horse, when she also had a jumper at the time. I think they wanted to make Nikko look a little arrogant and perhaps not as serious as the rest of the competitors.
Riders and horses showing in the big eqs often do not practice banks, whether because of lack of facilities or because they don't usually appear in the finals. In addition, in the hunter division, a bank is usually jumped UP, not down. As a result, many riders do not know how to jump a bank, and many horses have never done so. So when suddenly presented with one on course, if both members of the team are inexperienced (as Chelsea and Onatello appeared to be here) the bank can be a disaster.
The ASPCA Maclay is an equitation class that is offered at many A rated horse shows all throughout the country. You earn points in the classes to compete at the regional. If you place well at regionals you qualify for the finals (or you can qualify by placing in the some of the other medal finals). But anyways...The Maclay is not a show it is a class...you can read about it in the USEF rulebook.
shut up and watch the video. seriously.

I am very far from rich...and have been showing, competing, and winning in the AA circuit for 2 years now.
The horse that I am going to try to qualify for the Maclays on, is a 13 year old, 17.3, Hanoverian gelding.
I bought him for $14,000. And we have been competitively showing, and winning, in the 3'6 Equitation ring.
Some girls will go out and buy $500,000 horses..but I am living proof, that not all of them do.

r hunters supposed to have a more foreward seat, like on the flat and stuff??

How does a bank make someone a spoiled brat?
Hunters don't normally do banks so both horse and rider are not use to it.

Thought it was a little funny they were worried about the little bank, when they're jumping such big fences.
Eventer13 3 years ago 2
No, it's because it's easy for the horses to understand what they need to do at the fences. At the banks, you have to give really clear signals.
