  • i met him yesterday at CIU, cool guy

  • My Favourite author

  • Yancey is one of the most honest Christian writers that I know. A friend introduced me to his book 'whats so amazing about grace?' several years ago and I've been a fan ever since. One identifies with many of the struggles he faces or write about. Have been much helped by his books, God bless you Mr Yancey.

  • So, when does Bono get an invitation?

  • BONO & PHILIP YANCEY -- Really amazing --

  • His Disappointment in God book would bless anyone if they can understand it since his writings are not superficial but deep.

Ok ok he is my favorite writer.

  • I read many books and Yancy's books go deeper into the Bible than other writers, he has a prophetic gift it seems, he sees what is there.

  • Yancey is life affirming and full of Grace and Truth- not just truth, as some fundy Christians are. I cant believe there arent a tribe of them commenting here about how Yancey is a closest heretic or something....

How can I get a Yancey afro? He looks like one of the Jimi Hendrix Expereince

  • There's definitely people who call Philip Yancey a heretic but as the same sort of people said the same things about Jesus, he's in good company.

  • I can't imagine anyone calling Yancy a heretic. I have read his books and he is clear, true, precise and deep and a has a phenomenal grasp of the scriptures so anyone saying that about Yancy reveals their own ignorance.

  • I like Philip Yancey. His books keep me constant 'in season and out of season.' Everything he says always projects towards God. The approach he makes is very practical and God-centered. May God bless him more and more.

  • I've just recently started reading Philip Yancey's books and love them! Can you caption this video for deaf viewers like myself? Thanks!

  • I thank God for this man!

  • I don't regard most christian leaders or artists...but I highly respect Mr. Yancey highly!

  • Talking as someone who now dislikes most christians. After 30 years of church this is a good man.

  • That makes two of us. Except, cut the number in half. Haha

  • His books have always, consistently, made me walk closer with God. His perspectives have always re-introduced me to who God is, and love Him so much more. Phillip Yancy has been such a special instrument in the hands of God. He will always be my favorite for all time.

  • Yancey makes me think about the way I think in my approach to how I read the Bible, my personal faith in God and they way I view the evangelical church. His brutal honesty is what sets him above many other writers of the faith. His courage and willingness to deal with difficult and complex issues makes him my favorite writer. His books have sustained me through difficult times. I am sure that God delights when we approach Him in frank honesty and candor. Thank you Philip.

  • Philip Yancey helped me in my recovering stages from Fundamentalism. As a new Catholic, I see the clear difference between mainstream evangelicalism, which allows God to be God, and Fundamentalism who view with suspicion everyone who doesn't share their views. He counters fear with the experience of Love

  • been reading his books for years , and i always revisit some of those ive read. just an honest look at what we beleivers really go through in life...health and wealth gospel preachers? they should be ashamed.

  • It sure sounds dramatic, but books like The Jesus I never knew, Disappointment with God, How my faith survived the church and most of all What's so amazing about grace are the reason I'm still a believer.

Unlike many christian authors Yancey writes from a journalist perspective, a journalist who is honest in his doubts and criticism. I think he really has something to say to christians as well as non-believers.

  • Thank God for this guy. He points out that God's sovereignty reigns past the troubles of the world. I also appreciate how he stands by the truth and is so humbly honest about his own struggles with faith.

  • Church: Why Bother? Destiny & Deliverance, Disappointment with God, Fearfully & Wonderfully Made, In His Image, In the Likeness of God, Keeping Company with God, Meet the Bible, Prayer: Does It Make Any Difference?, Reaching for the Invisible God, Rumors of Another World: What on Earth are We Missing?, The Bible Jesus Read, The Gift of Pain, The Jesus I Never Knew, What's So Amazing About Grace?, When We Hurt, Where is God When it Hurts?, Finding God in Unexpected Places, & God Is Already Here.

  • I love this guy!

  • I've read 7 of the books he wrote and I thank GOd for those books. He is such a special writer.

  • Thank God for a writer like him. Philip Yancey books and writings speaks to the soul. Not every writer could do that.

  • I love Philip Yancey.

  • I'm from Russia and I wanna thank mr. Yancey for his books "Where is God when it hurts" and "Dissappointment with God".

I've never read more deeper... Thank you, and please say thank to him.

I wonder, Philip is reading Russian Classical literature
